Hey Capsuleers,
I have supported this even a lot...
Quote:100% of the proceeds from the sale of these SKINs in the New Eden Store will be converted from Aurum to real world cash, and will be donated to Bleika Slaufan (The Pink Ribbon Campaign), which is owned and managed by the National Cancer Association here in Iceland.

Has CCP published any numbers? How many ISK / AUR / real money they have collected?
Cheers and fly safe! |

Probably not alot cause those skins were ugly and antithetical to keeping garish flamboyant trol skins out of the game.
I wont fly an industrial until they remove the yellow from it and all the industry skins. |

Actually CCP announced that they were quite popular. And they even joke about them not being pink enough. I have my Rosada always on when I am mining. I would like more occasional sales like that, they could make it repeating events.

Yes, let's raise money for the most funded cancer research instead of more deadly cancers, like say, Prostate Cancer.
Nice Virtue Signalling. |

A good thing is a good thing. Let's try not to contrive a reason to delude ourselves into thinking a good thing is a bad thing. Perhaps it would be better to suggest another good thing, such as a similar campaign to raise funding for a cause you personally believe in with references to facts from reliable sources outlining why it is important.
CCP is no stranger to raising money for charities, and I don't see them as a business that is simply trying to use charity as a marketing ploy. They are, however, obligated to consider the success of any campaign they do choose to pursue and a lack of awareness as to why a problem is a problem in the general public would hinder such an effort. Raising awareness without alienating people (for example, with passive aggressive attacks on their values) is important for getting a cause the attention and understanding of the public to make these campaigns succeed.
It is very easy to point fingers and say someone should do something. If nobody's doing anything to address a problem you feel needs to be addressed, that's easily fixed. You're someone. Do something about it.
I feel that it's a common misconception people carry with them that they must solve a problem entirely, or not at all. That it's a binary state. Yes, we are small as individuals, and one at a time people are fairly weak creatures. There are problems we could never surmount alone as individuals. We do surmount these problems, though, and we are not alone. Make an effort, do what can be done, allow others to do what they can do. Show people gently what good they can do. Teach people that any good, no matter how small, is still worth doing and good will get done. |

Nice Virtue Signalling. It wasnt raised for research.
Quote:The Pink Ribbon campaign is the annual women-¦s cancer awareness and fundraising campaign of the Icelandic Cancer Society. The focus of the campaign this year is breast cancer education and prevention. All funds raised will go to modernising and improving the breast cancer screening equipment and software. Sounds like we funded new equiment for Icelandic hospitals. |

Nice Virtue Signalling. The majority of prostate cancers are slow and benign. So much so that most old dudes die with prostate cancer, but very few die from it.
The same cannot be said for other forms of cancer... especially breast cancer. |
