So people can get their ship back when the game "crashes" on them, however, can we get reimbursments from bugs within the game?
Again, I just lost a full rack of drones, due to needing to warp out of a mission, because they wouldn't re-dock in the drone bay (I recalled when I was at 20% shield.. I waited until I was into structure before warping out).. they stayed 1900 meters behind me, while I was aligned, flying towards a celestial object.
getting pretty damn fed up with it. so yea.. can we get reimbursments for bugged drone AI?
My opinion is my own, not of my corp or my alliance. If you have problems, we can have a "who can do L4 missions faster" duel >:) |

Best bet would be to actually fill out the petition and see what the response is.

why didn't you stop your ship and let them catch up. 400km's isn't a huge amount for them to get within scooping distance. Granted they should have made it but you could have done more on your part to get them in your bay.

possibly because:
138 m/s (my raven) < 660 m/s (hobgoblin II's orbit velocity) < 3,360 m/s (hobgoblin II's max velocity)... base stats.
i also have drone navigation (5% drone velocity) to level 4.
Its a known bug. Therefore, it should be reimbursable, correct?

You might as well give it a try. I've had drones bug out this way but I've never lost them. Sometimes I turn and have to rush my drones to get them back in the drone bay.
That said, it's been a lot better lately than when I first played the game something like 9 months or a year ago. -...

it adds up. I usually need to buy 10x drones every couple of days (5x smalls, 5x mediums).
note: the non-drone users will say, "waaaa, you have to buy drones, well, we have to buy ammo"... without taking into account that some people, use both ammo AND drones.

That's because you hit "Scoop to drone bay" instead of "Return to drone bay". They're right next to each other on the menu. Alternately, you can kick yourself for hitting "Return and orbit" instead of "Return to drone bay".
Regardless, the drones only stay out if you don't issue the "Return to drone bay" command. Chalk it up to the vagaries of the universe, and stop blaming the drones.

Drones don't turn on their MWD if they are told to go back to ship and and are withing reach of dunno, maybe 10KM, it was already addressed in a earlier patch and therefore should be regarded as not-fixed and you should petition it :)

How many times did you re-issue the command? Try just once? Absolutely sure that nearly identical entries on a small menu in the heat of battle are differentiable from each other *AND* that you hit the right one the first time?
Because it sounds as though you gave the drones the order to orbit. They gleefully smash into your hull if you tell them to return.

i always issue drone commands 3 times, as they very seldom obey the first command (some might obey, others do whatever the hell they want). i've only made a mistake using drones once, and it was to kill the wrong person
if this was a one time occurance, i would give in to user flaw; however, it happens quite alot, especially in deadspace areas (i've never had it happen in a belt / gate / normal space).
and as i said, they start to get very pricey when you need to keep buying them due to AI / command bugs

Maybe when you're in empire, but when you're in deep 0.0 miles away from the closest t2 drones doing exploration sites it gets really damn annoying.

Yeah, the "easy" "fix" for this is to have them return to orbit then once they're all in scoop range hit scoop. Have them engage something in front of you first too, if at all possible. -----

Next time if they are slow to return set one of them on the rest, when it is destroyed they will all come back. They will then tell the news to any new drones that come into the drone bay and so long as you keep some of the originals that had to eat their own kind, they will always be obedient.

this is a bug and it really doesnt matter if you tell the to return or orbit. only chance is to totally stop your ship and wait for them to return AT YOUR SHIP'S SPEED to your hangar.
haveing this bug on 2 fighters and waiting for them to return from 15km @ about 95m/s is NOT fun.
my own little theory is that drones have their own, bugged piece of code dealing with collision. I think the drone itself has a collision range of 0m which means they are basically a tiny, tiny dot. This in general wouldnt be so bad but when you draw 2 vectors from locations not more than 2km away to an object 30-60km away it can easily happen that the two entities are in the SAME PLACE at the SAME TIME and then they bump off each other, severally reducing their speed.
For an example of that effect you can take a bc/bc (the bigger, the better) and fly it into an asteroid (preverable feldspar). The roid will have a "bumping field" a few m/km above its surfave. When you hit that field (and the roid is shown as beeing 0m away) try issuing a move command in a 90¦ vector to the roids survace. your ship will move at about 5% max speed cause its constantly bumping/colliding with the roid.

Lol.
I've had this problem a lot of times, especially recently. I ALWAYS USE return to bay. I've been getting retarded drones that just stop moving when i issue the command and the only way to get them to fly to me is to target something and send them to attack it, then try the command again. So, technically, setting your drones on one another would work. Never get popped again! |

Reply would be: our logs show nothing.. bla bla bla. Wait till after Revelations 2.0 before they look into drones.
