There is nothing more you can do sadly. Depends on those traders if they will be honest and return your ISK.
It happend to me few times too, some ppl will give you ISK back, but many won't even answer. GMs probably won't help you, especially if there was some interaction with other players already (order got filled).

It happens now and again. Only yesterday I almost put a buy order for 27 mex at 10 million each rather than the other way around :)

Happens to the best of us m8. I put up 100 T2 explosive hardeners at 800k instead of 8mil at one point. I only realized it because my wallet was suddenly blinking like crazy, and I didn't expect them to sell that fast. By the time I cancelled the order (only 5min or so after I put it up), there were less than 15 of those hardeners left.
A few trader rules I created for myself:
1. Before setting up an order, or buying stuff, ask your self "is that price correct?". If the answer is "yes", check again...if it's still "yes", you're good to go.
2. NEVER open contracts when your drunk, stoned, or tired!!! I've probably lost more ISK by buying stuff I don't need while being drunk/stoned/tired, than by every single pirate loss within the past 2.5 years combined.
3. NEVER play the market when drunk, stoned, or tired...trust me, the market will play you, and not the other way around.
4. If a deal sounds too good, there's a good chance you just discovered a new scam.
5. Jita is a dirty place...don't go there except with a disposable hauler alt. Once that hauler alt gets back, it'll be so dirty, you'll prefer killing it instead of cleaning it up _______________

This happened to the CEO of TTI a few months after the server went live. He bought 1 unit of trit for 100,000,000 isk I believe. At least you didn't throw a fit and put bounties on everyone who did not give you your money back. ----

did it the other day. Changing a buy order by some ISK's accidently deleted the point and all of a sudden im 400mil down the pot ( 40mx10 PDU II's). it is sad. :(

If you are a serious trader well It will sadly happen to you once in a while. One way to reduce the issue is for instance only put a minimal amount of isks on your character wallet to just have enough to buy/sell what you need. Then obviously you can't buy/sell what you can not afford. But then again this is rather clumsy and you just end up doing a few mistakes once in a while.

You still got off light, someone put up a buy order for 4bil instead of 400mil last week. Make it a point to always mind the regional average before pressing ok.

always hit tab after you enter the price, this will format the amount with comma's and period's correctly.
Never hit enter.

I'm always stoned... so that would mean I could never play the market
But being drunk I just tried last saterday (well actually it was sundaymorning), it didn't work out that well, luckily it only costed me some taxes. I wanted to setup an order but I ended up setting it up in the wrong system, so I cancelled and tried again, guess what, I ended up setting the order in the same wrong system again!
So indeed, it felt like the market was playing with me...
I just hope I never make a mistake that would cost me the amount of ISK I see in here, it would probably ruin my enjoyment of playing and force me to quit, well...at least for a while, my emotions just can't handle big losses because of stupid mistakes like that, mistakes that could have been easily avoided just by paying attention. I'll probably get so irritated with myself and the fact that my order went through even though it was a ridiculous order that I'll hate the game for it, and then go back to loving the game after I've blown of some steam. It happened before with other online games.
I keep my mind open for everything... but I don't believe anything. |

If it helps any, I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday and he accidentally put a module on the market for several hundred billion instead of million.
Think he lost about 4.5b in broker fees.

I have to say this has nothing to do with traders being honest. It also has nothing to do with GM's, there is no reason they would or should get involved. This is purely a layer 0 issue (user error).
This is a case of people rushing too much and then losing out because of it. I spend extra time and effort to make sure I never do this. I've done it once and lost 20 mill ISK and I wouldn't even think of asking for it back. It was my fault and I didn't deserve the money back. If I hadn't been in a rush that time I'd have the money still. So because I hold myself to this standard I generally don't give the money back to those who screw up and hand me extra money.
I'd say I've been over payed for items at least 100 times and I've been handed cheap items about the same amount. Usually they are not massive orders. Usually it's a few million ISK more someone pays or I get a ship for 1 mil instead of 10 mil. Occasionally it's on the order of 100 million ISK or more... but not often at all. Maybe 3 times it's been that high and in one of the three the guy I was dealing with was extremely nice and handled it very well so I gave him half of the difference of lost money back. The other two I was threatened by the players... which made me instantly decide they wouldn't get a penny.
So my advice is to be EXTREMELY overly nice to the people you are asking for money back from. Don't sound mad or rude in any way... just explain how stupid you feel for doing it and how much you would appreciate it if they should feel kind enough to return at least some of the money. You may get lucky. But expect nothing... that way you may be pleasantly surprised.

I lost 700 mill working market stoned, a few weeks back. I lost 500 mill of the 700 to one person, also the only person that didn't refund the money I lost to him by my error.
Good reason to have a constant wardec on him and hunt him in my free time isn't it? I know it isn't, but it is fun tho. The least he could've done was kindly letting me know I wouldn't get my money back, but no, he decided to ignore me, thus the wardec, else I would've just let him off nicely. Gotta love freedom for players in EVE, hihi.
And indeed, petition won't help you one bit. I do think this should be fixed, if I type a buy order of 10 mill a peice on 50 tristans (for example) I should buy 50 tristans at the sellers price, not the 10 mill a piece price I entered. That is imho what should be fixed.

Why should it do that? You offered someone 10 times their asking value... why would any responsible market broker turn that down and say "No thanks, I will sell for 1/10th of that because I'm a nice guy!"?

happened to me a couple of times, stuck some mods up at 30mil instead of 300k each, poof goes 250mil in taxes, this weekend just gone, a chap got a bunch of sap booster 2's for 400 isk instead of 400k. he seemed happy with the deal lol. it happens, i'm surprised i dont mess up more often, i have 80-90 orders up at any one time, they are restocked weekly, and i adjust the prices twice a week, so thats at least 250 market adjustments a week, knowing my brain i should be getting about 50 a week wrong lol <><><><>

Good customer relations perhaps? I'd never go back to a broker that screws me over like that, and I'd tell all my friends never to do any business with that broker, soon that broker will be out of business.
But EVE's market isn't that realistic of course.

The buy order screen gives you a warning if the buy price is more than 50% above the market average.
Have you switched this warning off ? If so go press escape and look in the window that pops up. In there there are option to switch warning back on me thinks :)
