You'd think a company that does development would have the self respect in their own abilities that they'd use their own products.
I by far prefer devblogs, or at least written material on the forums. I hate sitting through videos, they take too long, are slow paced, and most of the time boring as hell filled with pointless fluff (not just CCP, but most videos.) Sucks to sit through a mind numbing hour of video for 2 minutes of information. My main source of EVE news has always been the devpost button. Except it's looking like CCP has sort of just given up on themselves and don't bother talking about things, just "here it is, if you like it or don't, whatever, we don't care any more" on patch day. Seems like only 4 devs are active on the forums any more, 1 does just info dumps every couple month, 2 are foreign language, 1 announces stuff from other devs that absolutely has to be announced.
CCP: you've always had some kind of in development page. Most of the time it's been a failure, ridiculously out of date. For most (or every?) game I've seen, the in development page in general has been a failure as a communications tool. Sure, keep it up to date because a professional does their job, but don't pretend it's a new innovation, and don't pretend it's the same thing as communication.

Just promise that the old Dev blogs won't go away. There are some real gems in the ones from way back. My favorite was the one, if I remember right, that was nothing but Hilmar posting "Fixed bug where shooting a mining drone caused Eve to crash for everyone on grid" or something along those lines. Don't rob us of such amazing history!

The idea in 2017 is to make EVE Updates into this, so that we have a rolling timeline of everything that's announced and being worked on I see why there is a change needed. What I don't see is why you throw away a working concept BEFORE you have the replacement ready? At the moment it is a bit of a mess to find the information about what new stuff is coming.
