I bought a new TV recently, LG 37LCD, 37" LCD tv. Now, admittedly, it wasn't bought to use the pc on, but I noticed a monitor connection in the back, so naturally curiosity got the better of me, and I had a look.
After connecting my laptop to it, I was pleasantly surprised how good the picture was with one small but important problem. There is a very slight ghosting effect, resulting in the text being almost unreadable.
As I said, I didnt buy it for the pc anyway, but what a bonus if it works. Any idea how to sharpen up the pic? I mean from the pc point of view, unless someone is a LCD tv expert!! ------------------------------------------

I believe my brother has the exact same TV and he's using it as his main screen for his computer. It took me a bit of fiddling, but the screen will quite happily run out-of-spec resolutions; its just the text will look craptasimo.
Go check through the Manual; somewhere in there is a list of supported resolutions/refresh rates. Use one of those and you should be good to go.

no matter how good you get it to look on LCD tv the text will always be terrible. i made the font bigger and thickened it. still hard to read but just readable. --------------------------------------- Furious Angels are recruiting Carpe Pugya Pyga - Seize the Buttocks

It's not too bad on my brothers TV; the trick just seems to be finding the resolution the panel wants to run at properly.

I do the same thing every once in a while - it's actually hard because you have to constantly scan the entire screen while in battle to make sure you're not missing anything.
But it's awesome, ain't it?
My text was so-so, but readable. The only thing I can suggest is make sure you're using a DVI or HDMI connection, and when in doubt bump the res down a bit to see if that helps.

Some TVs are better than others. My 37" Toshiba is fine with the PC generally, and there isn't any improvement I can see from RGB to DVI. With DVI the text is slightly thinner, which I actually find less easy to read. You have got Clear Type turned on haven't you? I say this because on XP it often isn't by default, and it improves text readability on LCD screens. Go to wherever you change the appearance of windows and it's on the Effects.. button.
As the others said running at the TV's native resolution should be best, for me and probably you that would be 1360x768. I would advise turning the TV color down a lot, like by 50%.
Your TV settings may include geek tweaks for clock and phase and stuff, mine has them but the default was spot on anyway. Tweaking might well cure ghosting.

I had a similar problem - it was down to the screen res in widnows. crank it down, it worked for me and I am happily gaming on a 32" LCD T.V. woot. - in hindsight getting 2 20" TFT's would of been a better idea.

There's my setup I run sometimes. Since I took those pics I've put a screen up on that wall. It's cool for Eve, but it's spectacular for Oblivion. Why there should be a breathalyzer to login to Eve:

LCD's max res is 1300~something by 720,
if your laptop cant do this res then you are not likely to get a good clear read,
my laptops max res is 1440xsomething(widescreen) but on my LCD i use the 1300~ setting, its really pretty sweet,
anything lower than 1300~ res your text is going to be ghosted,

TVs have much much worse resolution than monitors. I dont know about you but I value every inch of my screen real estate, using an LCD TV would reduce it.

You're thinking 720p which is 1280x720. The new 1080p LCD TVs are 1920x1080, Sony is calling it True HD. It's pretty sweet, honestly. It will be my next television. ---
