but:
Small Railgun Specialistation I has Small Hybrid Turret V as the pre-req... ???
There are several other such examples of wierd pre-req trees on items and ships. After 3 or so years, isn't it about time stuff like that wasn't still around?

BR it if ou hink it is a bug but... it is possible that you can loose your Samll hybrib 5 Skill and still use the guns then -- BIG Lottery, BIG Deal | RaTTuS @ Skills Showroom

Oh i got electronics upgrades to use a mod.
I use the mod, but the pre-requirement for the skill (science) I dont have
that is fine with me.
How many dragons can you slay? You cant slay mine. |

For that cruise missile one, it makes perfect sense because you can load defender missiles into the cruise missile launcher. ;)

It is possible to have the skill without the prereq, if you die w/o a proper clone.

My favorite is Trade V. As far as I can tell it's not needed for anything. Retail doesn't need it, wholesale only needs retail V and tycoon doesn't even care if you've mastered the trade skill. I haven't seen any other skills that want it for a prereq either.

Skills themselves are useful, they aren't always needed as a pre-requisite for something else.
Trade gives you this: "Active sell order limit increased by 4 per level of skill."
Thus if you go from Trade IV to Trade V you can do 4 extra sell orders.
