i have a question, revolving around a character of mine who is mainly focused around fighting.
the thing is, a while back someone told me that if you get "serious" about pvp, missions with that character wont be as easy. probebly because you either dont live near an agent or because in lowsec people can snif you out andk ill you.
the question here is.. should i have a different character just for the PVP ? or is there a way i could have my character that runs missions into pvp, and once he is into pvp back to missions when i want to ?
i had thought about the possiblity of jump clones, who im not sure how they work.. it seems a fast way of transport towards an agent so i can get going
i have 2 accounts, 1 being a fighter, the second is a miner/industrialist.. i wouldnt like to have to make another character just for pvp, so i hope someone can tell me that its not needed

Ifyou plan on living in deep 0.0, then jumpclones would be best, as long as you are sure that your outpost is safe. Or you can live and operate out of an NPC station with good agents in it.
If you plan on living in losec and being an ebil pierat, then you have to take into account the sec status loss, if some agents want to send you into hisec. Plus if you PvP in that system/constellation, you should know the layout and likely gatecamps of the area, and adjust your tactics and mission choices accordingly.
I mission in hisec because I really can't be bothered with the risk of losec, it's just stress I don't need. I mission in hisec to pay for my PvPing in hisec with PRVTR, I cycle in and out (Oh God no, i'm so lame). --- Mods stop nerfing my sig! Err - what sig? - Timmeh Yes quite! |

i wasnt planning on being a pirate so that wont be a big problem i guess :)
im just speculating tho... my future plans are****ue at best, and im just doing missions atm, and havent really seen alot of pvp.
the basic question is, could someone who got himself into deep 0.0 (or something) do missions ? and would that be by the use of a jumpclone?

Yes you can do that by using jump clones. Deep 0.0 usually doesn't have agents. (unless it's npc space) My experience with jump clones is that they are a pain to deal with. You either have to decide you will do missions the whole day or pvp the whole day. (24hour timer on the jumpclones) I often find myself waiting because the timer is still running and I want to quit either pvp or mission and do the other. When this happens and the timer still has a long time to go, I ussually quit the game....
Having two characters solves this ofcourse, so if you can a second will be allot better. _________________________________________________________

not what i wanted to hear... but it is what i feared.
i dont know how .0 corps operate so i dont know if it would be possible to NOT be around for a few days to do missions.
my second accout like i said was for mining/industry so that kinda makes it hard to have a combat one on there too :P slowing down my training time wasnt in my planning
ill just see how it ends up going. maybe ill get a little tired of missions eventually and do some pvp

FYI I do exactly this. I'm a bit of a casual player, but I have a jumpclone in a lo-sec station that I jump to for the weekend to play with my corp, and on Monday morning I jump-clone back out to my hi-sec mission agents station (and my much better implants). I spend the week running a couple missions a day for money, then jump back for the weekend.
If you're like me and either mission or pvp each day, meaning that you pretty much do one or another in a given time frame, a jump clone works great. I don't have the playtime to need to jump more than every 24 hours, myself.
