(News item)
On the 15th of November, all EVE Online CD keys will become non-redeemable. This includes all trial keys, boxed edition CD keys and any reseller purchased CD keys.
PLEX Activation codes, EVE Starter Pack codes and other Reseller codes (including promotional codes for ship SKINs) will still be redeemable on our website.

Amak Boma wrote:what will happen to players that purchased those cd keys recently but not activated them yet . I think CCP Phantom explained it in complete detail - On the 15th of November, all EVE Online CD keys will become NON_REDEEMABLE.
Simply - For those who recently purchased but haven't used an Eve CD key - Use it within the next 10 days or it becomes useless..
My opinions are mine.
If you don't like them or disagree with me that's OK.- - - - - -
Just don't bother Hating - I don't care
It really is getting harder and harder to justify $23 a month for each sub.

So why is this even a thing that is happening? Especially with such a SHORT time frame that basically screws over resellers with a large stock. |

so let me just clarify:
Does this make all the keys in the collectors edition no longer redeemable (the in game item codes, and mystery code) or just the 60 days game time key?
or even better non of these.
Kind of want to know as I bought the collectors edition fro a friend for Christmas, and would rather give them the codes early than late when they are no longer usable. |

I too have some keys from 2nd decade and Art of new eden that I have not activated yet. Will those become non-redeemable also?
If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

I hate being a ****.. no i lied i don;t hate it...
Reading comprehension FTW. The mystery code and other codes are promotional code. The 60 day time card code i'd beleiev is time card, and not a CD key code.
A CD key, is the key that was bought on a retail box of eve online that came with a CD used to install the game (i have not seen any of these in retails stores in about 5 years however) These will no longer work, because well.. you get a free account anyway.
Any promotion (i.e. codes with the 2nd decade and the Art of New Eden) will work fine, as these are NOT cd keys.
OMG Comet Mining idea!!! Comet Mining!
Yes i am optimistic about eve.. i'm giving it till dec 31st 2016 before i doom n gloom

Read the firts post again:
"PLEX Activation codes, EVE Starter Pack codes and other Reseller codes (including promotional codes for ship SKINs) will still be redeemable on our website."
The keys you listed are NOT cd keys. A CD key is a key from a retail box that was used to activate your '30 free days' of game time. The stuff in the 2nd decade and art of new eden are not the same. They are promotional keys for items

Hi guys, CCP Sales guy checking in.
As mentioned in the post above, CD key is a key that comes with a CD or was sold by us as a CD key, rather than code/ETC/Mystery/PLEX .
In the case of the Collectors Edition, the only CD key inside that box is the 60 day new account creation CD key. The remaining items are codes (DUST code, Mystery code and EVE Online code). The 60 day CD key is designed to upgrade a trial account or create a new account and that's the CD key which will stop working after the 15th.
If you have an unused CD key (at this stage it should be either a trial CD key or a CD key from a boxed version of EVE Online), you will have to redeem it before the 15th.

Thanks for confirming as to what constitutes as a CD key. Will have to give that part to my friend early then, so they can use the 60 days. |

I don't think that will work. The 60 day CD key that comes with the Collectors Edition creates a new account and adds 60 days game time to it. It's possible that it might work but that isn't how I would interpret it. |

I can tell you now that the 60 days is for a new account only, as one of my accounts was started with the same style code and I only seemed to be able to use it for a new account. |

What about the EVE Online Core Starter Packs? (these came with 30 days of game time)
Will CCP be offering any reimbursement for un-registered keys?
FYI these are still being sold by online retailers including Amazon, Greenmangaming, Humblebundle, Steam, G2A etc...
What happens if someone purchases theses keys from a retailer after November 15th?
I have 2 x of these keys which I was saving for a rainy day so I'm a little confused as to why you are getting rid of them? a little short-sighted maybe? |

You can add it to a trial account and get the extra 60 days on top - have done this with two Collectors Edition codes in the past.

In the Announcement it also states that "PLEX Activation codes, EVE Starter Pack codes and other Reseller codes (including promotional codes for ship SKINs) will still be redeemable on our website."
Does this mean that my steam eve starterpack will no longer work or simply that it is redeemable if i want to ?

If have no interest in making then upgrading an extra account in the next ten days, please send me the address to post my opened second decade collector's edition box to so I can get a refund, all codes are intact.
I imagine the 4 I gave out as presents will be returned as well.

This seems like a perfectly reasonable thing to do, except for the timeframe.
Eight days notice for obsolescence of physical merchandise isn't a good idea.
Make it three months, and the complaints will all go away (because who still has one of those keys...)

So instead of giving out new stuff for the Collectors Edition owners (mystery code *hint*) you are now taking things away? Nice. |
