The Rite of Shathol'Syn, encompassing the deaths of no less than five sovereign lords of Amarr, doesn't happen very often so the talented volunteer writers of ISD Mercury have stepped up to pen a new and intriguing chronicle that should provide some insight into the lives and loves of these fallen lords of Amarr.
We hope you enjoy the tale of "Sunset"
The new chronicle can be read on the Community site's backstory section: Sunset

At first I was like "why did this chronicle need somekind of strange backroom deals", then I realized what it was actually about and went "Oh, he just .. Well ****..." Now I feel kinda bad.
But also inquisitive, is Sathol'syn actually recorded? I assume it is only for Imperial use however, for the history books and never to actually be seen anyone but the Emperor/Empress and other select few? |

The attack in Federation space was audacious and ultimately a huge thorn in the side of Uriam's reputation, if only because it left many people scratching their heads as to his motives. I know I've often watched the Quantum Rise trailer and pondered 'why?'
Now we know. Military experts are now calling this an act of love :)
In terms of inspiration, much of it came while driving, listening to Sarah Blasko. This song became an anthem for me during the writing of this rewarding, collaborative affair. I now think of it as part of the soundtrack for what this Chronicle became.

Warner Brothers already trademarked, used, and ruined the title "Dawn of Justice".
Also, fantastic Chronicle, especially because of the new light it cast Kador in and giving all the heirs a meaningful send off (minus lyin', crooked Khanid presumably).

The name of the chronicle is recalling the last moments of the lives of the Heirs, reinforced by the fact that the ceremony takes place in the early evening. The last acts of the more powerful people of the Empire, the ray of light posing an end to their lives like a last ray of sunshine are all simbols of what the Chronicle is about: the Sunset of the Heirs lives, of the old Empire giving way to the new one ruled by Catiz. Plus, short and powerful names are cool. |

Okay.. To be honest a boring Chronicle. Nope intrigue. All too "right" In the past, in 2003. It was the intrigue after the "Succession" Here then it was very interesting to see how it all will end. Boring Chronicle, as well as the previous one. Do not have interesting NPC characters. Catiz is too formulaic.

Because in them Jamyl Sarum wants to die. And precisely because it began the war with the Drifters. Indeed Bravo. What I saw in the Chronicle: Why continue the storyline NPC characters in which it was invested so much soul and interesting moments in the plot if you can just cut a character, and begin again from 2003. Old Chronicles were far more interesting. Amarr have returned to their barbaric tradition. The Age of Enlightenment is ruined:
Quote:Once a new emperor has been chosen, all ties to his old royal family are severed and he joins the holy family of the emperors, which owns vast estates throughout the empire and wields considerable political power. Empress Jamyl I, crowned in YC 110, tolerates no interference from her former relations, but is determined to guide her empire to a new golden age of prosperity and enlightenment -- despite them, if necessary. But all is well begun, without any idiotic "succession" Amarr as were the slaves of their barbarous traditions and have remained.
And all for the sake carrying out Succession, not more.

I've made a German translation of the chronicle: Abendrot (more in this thread on the german subforums).
Thanks for this chronicle! It was fun to read (and to translate, even though...wow...it's looooong ), and still some nuts to crack.
One question that I have immediately: Did Jeanelle work as a Gallente spy (despite that certainly true love story with Uriam)? I was wondering how the Gallente Navy knew (back in the days) that Eturrer was in Kador Prime when they extracted him from that system. Jeanelle as spy would explain it, but I might have missed something else in the past.

Nice work. Well done!
As DZ mentions above (beat me to it) In terms of Jeanelle and knowledge of Eturrer's whereabouts (and Jeanelle's scar, which has drawn speculation elsewhere) I'd encourage people to read All Tomorrow's Bodies

Thanks for "All Tomorrow's Bodies", this chronicle gives a clear answer!
Personally, I hope to hear more from Arrach Sarum who was the most interesting character among the new Heirs in my opinion. And he seems to fit best into the context of displaying the "most sacred rituals of the Amarr Empire" (ACN) as a bloody comedy.

Chronicle a very nice. Question: We should expect Chronicle about how Jam-âl Sarum spent the last days of her life? That she felt. What was she thinking. Her thoughts before death, etc. After all, she was a person of faith. It is faith that helped her be herself. Example: http://orig05.deviantart.net/97f4/f/2013/316/e/d/ed92a188c807a121f0be09a8475da03e-d6u0f41.jpg

Are the revival of Shathol'Syn and the role the Order of St. Tetrimon plays here in the execution of the ritual a part of Jamyl Sarum's Testament?
I was quite confused when Arrach asked Merimeth "Need I remind you who it was that ordered the construction of this grotesque spectacle?" and from his following questions it seems clear that Merimeth's aunt Jamyl is meant. But now I discovered this news from YC117 which, underneath the text, explicitly refers to the "Testament" chronicle. Putting these things together I'd conclude, yes, the revival of Shathol'Syn, giving the Tetrimon Order the role to maintain the "integrity of the succession", lifting the "edict of suppression" that banned the Order into the Khanid exile and allowing them to return to the Amarr Empire are parts of Jamyl's Testament.
In the "Testament" chronicle the Emperor Family's High Chaplan Kalefa Sufrin explains to Tetrimon Grand Master Khemon Dulsur that the Privy and Theology Council will recognize Garkeh Khanid as the sixth Royal Heir and his right to claim the Amarr Throne, a decision that has been made public in this news three days after Sufrin and Dulsur had met in the chronicle. Sufrin finishes his explanation with "This will explain everything" and then gives Jamyl's Testament to Dulsur. So, I would guess that the restoration of Khanid as a Royal House of the Amarr Empire is part of Jamyl's last Will as well.
All in all I see four points in Jamyl Sarum's Testament:
1. The Khanid Family is restored as a Royal House of the Amarr Empire 2. The ritual of Shathol'Syn has to be revived for the Succession to the Throne of the Amarr Empire 3. The "Edict of Suppression" for the Order of St. Tetrimon is canceled and they are allowed to return to the Amarr Empire 4. The Order of St. Tetrimon is responsible for ensuring the security of the sequestration of the Heirs and for maintaining the "integrity of the succession"
After Khemon Dulsur had read Jamyl's Testament he shows two interesting reactions. Firstly, he says: "The Chapters [of the Tetrimon Order] will require persuasion." Which is irritating as point 2, 3 and 4 are probably very much in the Order's interest and favor. However, it might somehow refer to point 1. Secondly, when he is alone in his ship cabin and apparently thinks about the Testament again, he whispers: "I'm sorry." Hm, maybe he is sorry about having called Jamyl a heretic and recognizes now that - especially with point 2 - she was closer to the holy Amarr traditions than he thought.
I'm not entirely convinced about the picture I'm drawing here but Arrach's question mentioned above let me return to the "Testament" chronicle as this question appears to refer to Jamyl's last Will. In fact, I might be completely wrong and miss some background from the past.
Or the really important point in Jamyl's Testament is point 5. I'm still curious if something, maybe quite surprising, about her Testament will follow in future.

All is certainly good. BUT: can not be six heirs to the Council. This contradicts Stories Amarr Empire.
Quote:The Khanid Rebellion left the Empire with another problem aside from the loss of territory; it had also lost an Heir family. The presence of five Heirs on the Privy Council prevented a stalemate from ever forming on important matters. With four families, there could be a tie vote. With five, there would always be a potential tie-breaker. It was evident that the Khanid Family be replaced.
Numerous powerful families were considered by the Privy Council, but in the end Emperor Heideran VII decided on the wealthy Tash-Murkon Family.[8] The Tash-Murkon were wealthy Holders who were defacto owners of a large swath of territory. They possessed money, resources, and GÇô most importantly to Heideran GÇô a powerful family fleet.
However, their selection was not without controversy. The Tash-Murkon Family were notorious for having some Udorian ancestry. While the social and physical differences between the Udorians and Amarr had vanished centuries prior through intermarriage, the Udorian blood cast them firmly as non-pure Amarr. The Ardishapur Family in particular raised an objection over the idea of a non-pureblood Amarr being a theologically valid Emperor.
In the end, their objections were overruled, and the other Heir families agreed to raise the Tash-Murkon Family to the position of Heirs. The Ardishapur Family seethed over this and has never quite come to accept the Tash-Murkon Family's legitimacy.
And finally: Tetrimon:
Quote:In the present day, the Tetrimon are seen as a small fanatical religious cult, that have been responsible for a number of disturbing terrorist attacks against targets both amarr and foreigners. Quickly Amarrians forgotten the all the crimes of the cult.
Too simple all.
