example 1; i created a corp with my alt and built a pos with him. i then took my other character to that pos by entering my pw on my ship. now i exited the ship inside the pos's shields and once i logged off the pos jetted the floating ship outside the shields. is this because the character's ship was not part of the corp? will it do the same to corp members as well? why is this happening as with other corps i could just leave ships floating outside pos and they would never be jettesoned after i logged off.
and it appears that i cannot disable the password for the pos once it has been entered. i am thinking that the password is causing this. but without a password then anyone can enter the pos?

This is because once you log the password you set on the SHIP is lost.
Your corp doesn't need the password if you allow corporation members (tick box) ticked. If you don't tick allow corp members then yes it's likely that the ships will get ejected from inside the shields.

ok so you are saying that the ships get ejected because their password gets deleted when the non-corp pilot logs off. so if the ships were piloted by a corp member that does not need to enter the password will not have their ships ejected if he leaves it floating inside the shield? the that would mean that the pos would know who's ship belongs to the corp and i thought the game does not recognize such things and that a ship is just a ship.

Yes,
strangly enough it recognized the last pilot so to speak.

I think this is because you are in effect logging in space, I effect the same rules apply in the you get warped to a safe space of the grid.
One of our memebers got cought out that way as he was attacked by a pirate and warped to the POS in his POD and logged thinking he was safe. It seems if you get attacked the person that attacked you gets a 15 min flag on you, and you get one on him as well and they will be flagged to Concorde. What happened to our member is he came back to find he had been pod killed, it seems that if you are flagged you get warped to a random spot on the grid till the flag expires and can be found with scan probes.
So watch out for that, you are only safe if you get to a station or wait out the flag in the POS before logging.
You will get warped back to wher you where when you log back in, which probably explains why the non-corp members would end up out of the shield as would not have the PW set.

Depends where your POS is - if it's in 0.0 I'd set
Shoot on agression - shoot if at war - shoot if standings below 0.1
Then that would kill everybody that shouldn't be near it.
If it's in high sec then the standing one isn't in effect but I would set the other 2 on.
I don't like the standings dropping setting because it has caused too much friendly fire loss.

ok another question. how can i allow corp members to have access to the ship and corp hanger arrays of the pos? do i need the skill, starbase config to do this? i do not see these options in the standard roles management in the corp tab.

You need the role, not the skill.
You need to go to access and set the access to "corp" and not to role. Access by role means -only- those with starbase config can access it. ----
