This is a fact that has been overlooked by myself, but it was pointed out to me today and I was astounded by this fact.
It seems that only the caldari have a Tech 1 ship that has a bonus to scan probe time. The heron has 5% reduction to duration/activation time of modules requiring Astrometrics per level.
None of the other race frigates have a skill bonus on any tech 1 ship to reduce the scan time of probe launchers (which require the Astrometrics skill). Is this detail correct, or have I overlooked something along the way. It seems to me that this is an important fact for anyone who uses scan probes of any type and may go some way to explaining why the Buzzard (covert-ops) is 3 times the value of the other covert ops frigs.
Anyone who wants to get into scanning will surely start with a Heron, and once you have skills in caldari frigate you are not going to restart training in another race frigate just for the fun of it.
Come on Devs do something to adress this small but not insignificant imbalance ASAP by giving the Maulus, Crucifier, and vigil the same bonus to scan probe time as the heron.
Signed - One upset covert-ops maufacturer who cant give his ships away (lol)

Edited by: Ealdenarche on 16/03/2007 19:06:00 As a Gallente pilot, I can tell you that the Imicus also has a 5% reduction to astrometric duration per frigate skill level.
Edit: The Minmatar Probe also has the Astrometric bonus.
The only difference though, is that the Heron's direct descendant, the Buzzard, is the T2 counterpart. The Gallente and Minmatar versions have completely different hulls.
Amarr doesn't have one.

Edited by: xHalcyonx on 16/03/2007 19:07:07 Simply put, you are wrong.
Amarr - No scanning ship Gallente - Imicus Caldari - Heron Minmatar - Probe
EDIT: It only takes an hour and a half to train any racial frigate to level 2, so that point is invalid. As to why the Buzzard is so expensive, many people have Caldari Frigate to level 5 already for the crow and or harpy/hawk, so why waste 9 days training another frigate to 5?

For the record, I'M cross-trained in every race's frigate, destroyer, cruiser, battlecruier, battleship, and industrial just for the fun of it. There are ALOT of pilots out there who are also, some because we like the ships, some because we want to be able to choose the best ship for the job at hand regardless of race. Aint that big a deal, getting to frig 4 for another race is like under 2 days start to finish if you have decent attributes.

Gallente = Imicus Minmatar = Probe Amarr = cba to look it up, but pretty sure they have one.

No, Amarr don't have one, it's the missing amarr frigate, 5 frigs for amarr, 6 for everyone else.

Edited by: Acinonyx Jubatus on 16/03/2007 21:49:10 I coulda sworn the Crucifier had it... Guess I just forgot.Certainly has the cpu to fit one, if you have electronic skills.
Oh yes, the anathema, which is the T2 crucifier has the bonus.
