Hi all,
I would like to know if the Miningforeman skill will work without a Miningforeman link. I've trained it to lvl2 but it makes no difference on my mining yield . Same thing for my gang mates yield (even in the same belt). When i go in my strips info, the yield is the same.
I don't see the point of giving lvl3 miningforeman skill to a new miner character if he needs a 150M implant to use this skill
I would also like to know if the mining drones bonuses appear in the drone info like the stripminer.
Sry if my english is not perfect

He doesn't need the implant,
He needs to be in a fleet and squad commander for it to work. Your guys will know because they will see a green light in the fleet overview.
[greek]
The key for fleet bonuses is that there needs to be an unbroken chain of command for the bonuses to propogate... properly and all commanders need to have the skills to actually command at the commanding level. ... And commanders do not recieve bonuses from other commanders, so always use the lowest hierarchical level available.

It does not work like the description says (what else is new, CCP does not update info tabs it would seem). Instead of increase the mining yield by x% it decreases the mining cycle by x%. In the end the result is exactly the same but it can cause some confusion at first. ------------------------------- C.D's Formula for success ------------------------------- Credit Card = Game Time Card Gametime Card = ISK Therefore Credit Card = ISK.

The quick HOWTO for the original poster, assuming two people in gang (scales up to 10 easily, beyond that you have to deal with Wing Command and the fact that WC bonuses don't pass on to the SC, only to squad members)
Once gang is formed: Right click on gang tab and select "convert to fleet" Once the gang is a fleet, right click the persion who has the Mining Foreman skill and make them the Squad Commander of Squad 1. Move all other fleet members to normal "Squad Member" positions in Squad 1 if they are not already there. (Default is for the "boss" to be made Fleet Commander even if they do not have the skills)
The fleet "Boss" (the person who can invite to fleet/reassign members between squads) does not have to be the Squad Commander. I frequently run with my main as Boss and my alt as SC. ------------ Ezra Cornell

That isn't affected by the Mining Foreman skill as the original poster was asking - you're thinking of the Warfarelinks and the Mining Director skill. Otherwise you are correct. _______________ Pwett CEO and Founder [QTC]QUANT & [QTC] Industries |

A 5% decrease in cycle time is worth more then a 5% yield increase in overall ore harvest per minute / hour, whatever time period you want to measure it with.
It's only a slightly higher amount, but I would take shorter cycle times over increased yields even if they worked out to the exact same ore / minute in a heartbeat. |

To answer your question with some of what they above have added:
Mining foreman skill gives a fixed yield boost to the gang *only* when the character with said skill is a squad commander or the proper skill waterfall has been setup with wing and fleet commanders.
Mining director requires the use of mining links, along with the correct ship to give said bonuses (BC,Carrier, Mom, *Titan?* ).
The mining foreman Mindlink implant that requires director V and cybernetics V is nowhere near 150 million, they're as low as 30 mil in Jita / Rens these days.
Mining foreman, director affects do not work on drones. I also believe the mining drone rig is broken (unless it doesn't apply a mod directly like the +dmg to sentry ones do, haven't tested this one out yet). There is no seeded mining link for drone yields, as it was eternally bugged and never made it out of sisi IIRC.
If you want to know the max a gang can be boosted in terms of minining production is 22.5% reduced cycle times and a direct 15% ore yield bonus.
Finally, I really suggest you give Halada's guide a read. http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=434899
Good luck with it, these days are great for new empire miners with pyer at insane prices.

Just to add....
The Mining Drone Augmentor I does work and the effects stack.
2 on a Hulk and 3 on the Command BC make a nice addition with Mining Drone IIs.

No stacking penalty?
Nice to know at any rate, I'll have to toss a couple on my covetors. |

Nope - 10% each one - e.g. 555-556 Scordite per Mining Drone
Makes the Command ship rather useful still...

Doesn't each one of those reduce your CPU, though? That's fewer MLUs you can use... how does it average out?

I can only fit one mining drone upgrade on my Hulk while still fitting a full tank. I don't have MLU V or Drone Rigging V, but I'd rather the second slot be filled with some sort of resistance rig since I live in the land of Angels and they can throw any of the 4 damage types at me. _______________ Pwett CEO and Founder [QTC]QUANT Corp.

Edited by: Michael Caldar on 07/04/2007 08:56:06 I'd love to know how u guys manage to get the Mining Foreman to drop the cycle time rather then do what it normally does - increase laser yield (as in "what it says on the tin" or in this case description). Got it to IV and am taking 1400-odd m3 per strip per cycle. But that, obviously, is not having any affect on ice mining. Is there any way to get the laser cycle time reduced? Unless it affects strips in a different way than "normal" lasers (yield for strips and cycle time for lasers)?
Just to clarify: a Hulk fitted with 3x Modulated Strip IIs and 2x MLUs - Mining Foreman skill increased strip output by 2% per level, had no effect on the cycle time though... Fitting 2x IHUs drops the cycle time by 5% per IHU (for Ice Harvesters) but the Mining Foreman does not do anything...

If that's at me - yes the Drone Mining Augmentor does reduce CPU - but then my Command Drake has no Mining Lasers currently.
The Command ship takes care of the rats, salvages and runs Gang Mods.
The Mining drones are a complete bonus for quiet moments and so 3 x Mining Drone Augmentor rigs can be fitted. What would be really nice would be if the Mining Foreman Link - Drone Coordination were issued

Agreed - but High Sec Hulks can have 2 x MLUs and 2 x Drone Augmentor rigs quite easily...

- The Mining Foreman skill increases yield - but does nothing for Ice Mining
- The Mining Director skill used with the Laser Optimization OR Ice Harvester Optimization Gang module reduces cycle time
- The Mining Foreman Mindlink increases the effect of both...

Thanks for that - just as i thought...
Since there is just one of me there's no point going with Director/Links way since 2x Hulks will outmine any combination of 1 hulk + a link fitted BC - bummer Unless I'll get 2 more alts going... But then there's a need for 2 more monitors + since the dearly beloved will never agree to 2x extra accounts I'd have to fund them with GTCs... Funding those will, in turn, kill off what's left of my RL... Oh well, 2x Hulks it is then
CCP - any chance to get links fitable Hulks? Pretty please?

There is an ancient Jovian technique called Windowed mode and Alt+Tab.

Mining foreman laser optimization and the proper skill at lvl 4 gives 154.8 secs cycle time (a bit more than 2.5 mins)
