No, I do know what you mean, and I'll mention this to my co-workers, but I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. And we should look into those small difference in the portraits, so we get closer to what you see is what you get. |

I personally love the new system. The faces are unique enough if you work on them. Also, the clothing will come in time, once the 0.0 carebears will finally dock up and stop crying that WiS is useless (which it isn't). Thanks for at least considering this I think that for change of clothes there should not be a mandatory requirement to make a new portrait, but when changing identity defining characteristics (anything that affects the face, like hair, beard, tattoos, scars, piercings, glasses, etc.) there should be a new portrait
When regarding my alt, I have identified the propable cause being that apparently the hair has been moved further to the front of the head, making the parts of the hair falling down along the face being more spaced out from the skin... this might be just a client render issue... i don't know.
I have submitted a bug report (ID 124061) for you with screenshots of the particcular issue. |

In the portrait page you can set blue lighting and make it look like you got blue skin. Its one of those features that's hard to find. CCP employees should never proclaim a feature to be awesome. Only subscribers should. Subscribers can never answer a question posed to CCP. Only CCP can. |

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MAKE THEM STAND STILL WHILE WE'RE CREATING THEM!! Whoever thought the making the character have a seizure was a good idea during creation was obviously sadistic. I mean, props for the evil, but make the hurting stop. Especially rough on slower graphics cards.
Quote:Did you all notice the "tucking" options, that you can randomize the whole character (and each group), and toggle the clothes off?
I did not notice those.
[quote]Now we have only facial tattoos... would body tattoos be something you would be interested in (and then how interested), even though you cannot see them in the portrait?
not unless you could see them around the clothing, meaning high-waters, shorts, sleeveless shirts, etc would be needed. But even then it's not all that interesting to me.

Quote:A few people have asked for normal glasses... would that be something you would be interested in?
no, if we can clone folks, I'd say we can buy a replacement eye if it goes bad. can't see needing glasses except as a fashion accessory.
Quote:Did anyone have problems with the body modifications, and if so, what did you have problems with?
no
Quote:Are there any small usability issues that bothering you in the character creator?
Aside from the character having the seizure described above, no.
Quote:Do you think players in general would be in favor of allowing bloodline changes, or are there just a few souls that are unhappy with their heritage?
I think you should be able to get a clone of any race / sex. I mean we're transferring consciousness to a freshly grown body here, right? Make it all available, for a fee of course. Maybe even something you could put in the NeX store, eh?
Quote:Any more suggestions? (other than "hey, we want more racial clothing" and "hey, we want no clothing restrictions").

Riall wrote:As you can see, there are clipping issues with the hair going through the cheek, the collarbone and the clothing in the server render, but these aren't expected based on what the client shows.
I also had hair clipping issues, which I found rather disappointing considering the otherwise high quality of the character tool compared to what I've seen in other games. That's half the reason I changed to short hair.

(I've been looking at the character creator for so long that it makes perfect sense to me , but it would be great to get some input from you guys... and these are just questions, not promises that everything you suggest will be done )
1) More options for customization of any type will always be welcome. 2) Mouse over text when customizing the body. Eve is 55% populated by toons with large breasts and anorexic asses. A text could read: "This is the ass of a 40 year old crack-*****. Move your mouse to the right for more J-Lo. p.s. Women have hips adjust those too." 3) I want a GD Han Solo type pistol rig for my toon. Seriously, do it!
Well done with character customization. Best I've ever seen!

I'm happy with my new face, but its a completely different guy.
My old guy was waifish and pale and looked like be basically grew up in the dark... And he had one thing us Gallente got stolen from us in the new creator... LONG HAIR.
Other than that, I'm not unhappy with my new guy, but he's a far cry from my original, and I was disappointed that there was no way to even approximate the old look.
More importantly, it burns my ass that you guys spent a couple years on this and I still can't walk into a room with my corpies and sit down at a table for a beer.
Walking in closets isn't very exciting, and now, it seems like you've just decided to cast it on the scrap heap of Eve history, we lost our old portraits, and we won't get anything more out of this except avatars that look too clean for space, and barbie doll clothes that no one but the owner can actually see (3d preview is a joke, does anyone actually care?)
I wouldn't have minded the change, if it meant anything, but in light of the total bug-splat result, I'm kinda sorry it ever happened. |

All we had before incursion was long hippy art school hair.
you should give that back to all intaki men. No short hair, no bald intaki. All long flowing locks, samurai buns and other variations of long hippy hair.
Well, for the more Gallente-assimilated they should have choice of the Gallente hairstyles too, but for the traditionalists, have the distinctive Intaki choices available for sure. |

I only started playing EVE a month ago, but I have to say that the current character generator is _the_ most advanced human character generator I've ever seen in any game - anywhere.
I must have spent 45 minutes to get my character to look as it does. I bet some have spent all day tuning their characters.
If WoD will have the same depth of character generation I'll be a really happy camper.

Players can become accustomed to any UI system, whether good or not. The new Character Creator isn't really that bad once you play around with it.
The resounding issues you will see upon reading this thread is variety:
- each major race looks like the same - each major race dresses pretty much the same - each bloodline really has no distinctions - there is simply not enough variety
There have been many suggestions on how to make this viable:
- suck it up and just make 10x more variety at CCP's expense - create some really kick ass stuff (not monocles) and sell them via MT - make them an ISK sink or LP sink (ie you can only buy militia clothing with militia LP) - allow colour customizations on all items, not just a few
Really it's the lack of variety that disappoints most. The new graphics are sharp, cool, and very modern. I think most of us are just sad that we lost our uniqueness. I know I am, though by sad I mean I really am going to hurt a dev at Fanfest.

I mostly miss the accessories, (and no I will not pay extra for what I consider a standard MMO feature), but I'm also dissapointed that Verokhior seemed to get a race change.
My old portrait had this gypsy look to it that I loved: http://oldportraits.eveonline.com/Character/539296050_256.jpg
I miss the tacky jewelry, and the big eyes.
The new character looks like a starved child from a Vietnam War movie. I almost cried when I opened the character creator for the first time.
In terms of the UI I find it easier to manipulate sliders than locating the hotspots on the face. I also missed some basic UI elements that I have come to expect. Easy to save snapshots and preview options but maybe some of this has improved since the first version. There is a lot of trial and error involved in this kind of modelling so the risk of losing some work is big.
I also agree with many of the other posters that the uniqueness and the 'edge' of the old characters was lost. More distinct options to accessorize might have fixed that. Preserving some of the racial accessories of old perhaps. We were promised more accessories as an iteration, but it seems that promise was changed to a cash shop feature. :-( The Gallente plastic visors, and the Sebiestor life support units were some really distinct features that defined them. |
