Hi all.
We've now enabled the Shadow of the Serpent event on Singularity. This means that you will now see the Scope Network on your character select screen and Neocom.
The Scope Network will provide you with challenges which when completed, will award you with the points assigned to that challenge. As you complete challenges, you will see your points total increasing and how many remain until you unlock the next reward.
Please note that the rewards gifted here are not final, and incomplete challenges expire after 3 days and are replaced with a new challenge.

Just a quick note, the rewards on the login screen should have some kind of hover or right click option to know what they are. Icons are nice and I recognize most of them but it isn't clear what exactly the ship rewards are or the thing in the middle tier. |

This is something we're aware of and will try and get to before release.

Hey! Just curious... is this similar to the Blood Raider and Gurista events earlier this year where anomalies featuring the pirates popped up all over New Eden?
My corp currently lives in Kinakka, which is in Black Rise and has Gurista pirates. It would be very annoying to miss out on the higher tier rewards because I would have to take many, many jumps to go to Minmatar regions to kill some Angel pirates. Likewise, I think the corps living in Heimatar, Metropolis, Molden Heath, etc. would find it annoying to go to Placid to kill some Serpentis pirates. |

Yes, there are anomalies/sites open throughout New Eden to find! You'll see them globally in the Overview. Some sites such as Serpentis Sortie, Angel Cartel Mining Outpost, or Sepentis Mobilization Point. They are all active now on Singularity to find.

The "news ticker" can be irritating to some folks, both for the animation effect and waiting to read all the info. it's a good effect to have by default. But could you add code that, on mouse-click, would stop the animation, and display all news text at once?
(I hope to see a few items added and removed in the "news," as the event progresses.)

CCP please argue amongst yourselves about the use of the word "killed" in regards to the completion counters on the Scope UI. Ships are "destroyed" - I think this word fits better. NPC's are anonymous for the most part, and I feel like I'm not making any progress against Zor. |

But I don't want to shoot Angel Cartel or Serpentis, I want to shoot CONCORD and other "Law Enforcement."
How about something for the pirate PCs at some point?

There's some issues with having a smaller monitor (on my laptop, at least), considering how wide the new bar makes the character select screen. While my desktop (and widescreen monitor) had no issues, looking at it on my laptop had the new content tucked under the third character box. |

Character selection screen.
- news ticker needs to have links to news articles.
- Needs to be some information on who the Serpentis and Angel Cartel are. why do they matter etc. otherwise it just feels like a artificial go shoot x ships for x reward which is uninspiring and not immersive. If we had a reason for completing the missions it would be alot better.. eg that it contributed to a storyline that had a lasting impression on new eden.
- reward icons. Need to state what the reward is when you hover the mouse over (or click). Not everyone can recongise the ship by its shape etc. Be nice to have it link to the ship tree. So new players could see the progression they need to make before they can fly that ship reward. Would give them a nice goal to work towards.

Event NPC's are leaving wrecks; in the previous event, they did not, and this was answered at the time to be "by design." Is this change intentional?
Consider adding pop-up warnings about threats you might face, when warping to the beacons. Some of the sites might make you wish you brought a different ship. Or friends!
Some new structure naming is generic. If possible, consider adding the name of Citadel and Vault "owner" in sites they are used in: Serpentis, Angel, etc.
The Research Vault in one of the shipyard sites lacks a collision boundary, allowing ships to fly inside it.
Challenge text could provide more info to help players find content.
DED complexes: could use a link to more information about what these are, and that scan probes might help find them.
Terrorize the Angels: (Angel Cartel Assembly Point sites) Where are these typically found? At first, this site name made me think of the standard Rally Point cosmic anomaly (lowsec.)
Hunting the Serpentis: (shoot Serpentis Guards) Where do I go to find them? (I just saw an Event guard, so they might appear anywhere. A Serpentis Guard NPC already exists, the event NPC name might cause a tiny bit of confusion. e.g., "Why am I not getting credit for shooting them:" wrong type.) |

Pop up would be nice, middle item appears to use the cerebral accelerator image, so possibly that.

Unsure if intended or not, but drones will not engage the Angel Bunker inside Angel Cartel Assembly site; this was attempted in high sec, ship guns would damage, drones would not.

Completed challenges do not seem to actually add points to your total; i.e. completed Angel Sortie Challenge, Scope Network drop down showed completion w/ check mark, 50 point market, etc. while the full event UI still shows zero total. Sortie challenge has updated to Mining Network.
*edit* In addition, killing the Serpentis Battlecruisers inside Angel Sortie sites do not count towards Serpentis Clean Up

Unfortunately it does not exist in the region of space that I live in.
I dont think many people are going to want to jump many systems over looking for these things.
Perhaps make it a scordite or veldspar type thing.
Also how does one dismiss or refresh the list of objectives/missions? Some of them like Angel Cartel or DED things may not be something that I do as a player, add in that plagioclaise one and now im left with only one thing refreshing in the list.
Just a thought. |

Guards usually warp to stargate. Wait for few seconds. If nothing happen for minute then find at another gate. |

While engaging a few of the Angel gangs near some Hisec gates, the visual effects appeared to show missiles launching from my ship, then turning around and hitting my ship. I was in a Dominix at the time, which can't fit missile launchers. It was quite visible when the only Angel ship left was a Machariel, which also can't fit missile launchers (unless NPC Mach's can). |

I like nailing their wings and halos to the walls of my hanger. I'm still waiting to see if one of them will drop a harp or a trumpet as loot.

Why are the overview settings for the new Event NPC ships under Entity instead of NPC on the overview settings? It was a PITA finding them so I could turn them on.
Also, why are there six new overview types for each of the ship types involved in the event? Are we going to get more and more overview settings as new factions are added to events? That seems cumbersome.
Otherwise, I love the content itself.

That being said....my previous comment stands - how do you refresh the list ? If it contains things that are all either outside the area you live in or you are unable to complete due to age of toon or capabilities.
Also the mining ones should use roids that are available in all sectors or it should offer only the ones that are applicable to where you are located when you log in. That or there is an easy way to refresh the list - which i think it needs regardless.

The Guards are similar to the Seekers etc, they move around system. Cloaky followed a set for a bit before going hunting for sites and they went to a Gate, two belts and a POCO in probably a 20 minute window.

Angel bunkers at Angel Assembly sites (hisec) aren't taking any damage. I've tried sentry and medium drones, cruise missiles and large autocannon. Drones will not attack the bunkers at all, cruise missiles and large autocannon will fire on the bunkers but do 0 damage per volley.
On the other hand, my Domi isn't shooting itself with missiles any more. :) |

If it contains things that are all either outside the area you live in or you are unable to complete due to age of toon or capabilities. Also the mining ones should use roids that are available in all sectors or it should offer only the ones that are applicable to where you are located when you log in. That or there is an easy way to refresh the list - which i think it needs regardless. Cheers Regan
It looks like the challenges expire after 48 hours, at which time you are given a new challenge. I don't see any other way to "refresh" the list.

I have same issue. I did Serpentis Transpotation Facility but no progress. Still 0/1 Site Complete. Also perhaps some info from characters as where one might find spesific rats. Like "They tend to hang around Stargates in Low Sec." or something. |

My only real comment so far after having done this for a day or two on SiSi is... why are these sites' beacons on the overview instead of anomalies in the probe scanner? I mean, don't get me wrong... I'm HAPPY that they are on the overview -- I wish all anomaly content was that way -- but they could REALLY use their own category instead of just the generic "beacon" category.

In general this just brings up that the way CCP exposes content is highly inconsistent. Signatures being differentiated makes sense since they aren't warpable unless effort is expended. But the difference between anomalies and overview items seems completely arbitrary.
While I don't expect CCP has time to do anything about it right now, I REALLY hope you guys can be consistent on this in the future with any new content. Anomalies make no sense; anything that is an anomaly should just be an item I can filter for in the overview instead. Things that have multiple "states" (potential vs active FW plexes, private vs public Citadels, etc.) should just have more than one overview category to filter on so people can pick and choose what they want to see.
Requiring me to keep the probe scanner open just to see content that ought to be in the overview -- when I don't even have a probe scanner equipped -- is kind of silly. |

The updated version of the Shadow of the Serpent event is now live on Singularity. Some changes include:
* Required reward totals have been updated * New ceremony for achieving rewards * Various challenge point values adjusted * Roaming Serpentis and Angel Guards now count towards the 'Miner Defense' and 'Belt Security' challenges.

We haven't really had a chance to see rewards for this yet I guess, but anyhow with the daily hunt going away I hope you guys consider putting a "newbro 10k SP injector restricted to <5M SP characters" item into the game and add it to reward track for these kinds of events. I've seen nothing but positive feedback from new players about the ability to get a bit of a bump in their training to keep them interested and motivated to go do these things. |

I have so far seen 16 challenges in the current iteration. 4 were mining (various amounts of Veldspar or Kernite), the rest were combat. There are probably more mining challenges that I haven't seen; I'm not doing those so they aren't refreshing very quickly. The combat challenges are some variation of kill x Serpentis or Angel event rats, kill x of some very specific type of Serpentis or Angel event rat (gate guards), or complete x number of the combat sites that spawn. Oh, and one challenge was to complete an incursion.
Each challenge awards anywhere from 100 to 1000 points on the event track credit (well, the "compelete an incursion" event is 2000 points, but other than that I've seen none higher than 1000). The first event reward on the track is set at 10,000 points. It is a bronze container of some kind, with no hover-text. No clue what's in it.
There are 9 combat sites total; 4 Angel and 4 Serpentis ones that are mirrors of each other in terms of ships you are facing. The 9th one is a Serpentis one with a container that holds 1 to 4 "Serpentis Modified Capital Microprocessor". The event rats in the combat sites have reasonable NPC bounties, but there is no benefit (event-wise) to completing a site unless you have an active challenge for that specific site type or the rats inside it. From what I can tell the sites spawn everywhere except J-space in roughly equal proportions.
All of the sites can be solo'd in a decently flown Corax w/o too much effort. Only one site (the one with the cargo container) poses any kind of challenge for the Corax (totally doable, just a bit slow). That one is easy enough to faceroll in a Gila or any other typical ratting setup though. The rats do not drop loot, they do have bounties, and they do drop wrecks which appear to salvage to normal T1 wreck salvage. None of the LCO's in any of the sites can be damaged.
Serpentis frigates in the sites sensor damp. Angel cruisers will rarely web. The Serpentis like to hit MWD speed and close to point-blank range. The Angel's prefer to kite at >10km and max out at AB-level speeds.
In addition to below info, all sites have a small random chance to spawn one or more extra waves of frigates, cruisers, or BCs from the off-faction. There appears to be no trigger for this, you just see in local something to the effect of "Angel Cartel Cruisers appear to aid the Serpentis forces" or equivalent upon entering the site.

Angel Mining Outpost / Serpentis Transportation Facility 2 BC, 3 cruiser, 4 frigate
Angel Research Bunker / Serpentis Information Relay 2 BC, 4 cruiser, 6 frigate
Angel Assembly Point / Serpentis Mobilization Point 2 BC, 6 cruiser, 8 frigate
Serpentis Shipyard and Research Facility 6 BC, 13 cruiser, 18 frigate split across 3 groups (2 groups immediately aggro, the 3rd can be avoided initially) a cargo container that drops 1 to 4 microprocessors; it cannot be opened until all site rats are destroyed

I don't know if it's intentional but the 'Keep up the Pressure" challenge (destroy 5 shipyards) keeps popping up again immediately each time I've completed it. I've never had it replaced by any other challenge.
EDIT: If it's NOT intentional then, just FYI I guess, something's up there needs fixing :)
If it IS intentional, this might be a balance issue. This is the only site that drops any loot and seems to spawn a lot more often (and be a lot easier ot find) than any other sites. As a result it feels a lot more efficient to just keep clearing these for the 500 points + loot than to hunt around for hours looking for the hard to find guards or bother with any of the other less common sites and their related challenges. |

I had the same problem with a Worm, several times. On the other hand the counter for the opportunity Keep Up the Pressure (complete 5 Serpentis Shipyard and Research Facilty sites) work correctly. I thought either the frigate used must be a tech 1 one (but if you have the same problem, that's not it) or only one active challenge can be completed at any given time (but you apparently can't choose it). |

Same mixed result: completed 3 of these sites with a friend present in each one, from the first NPC explosion to the last... only got credit for completing 1 of the 3 sites. A Final Blow situation? More loot variety in sites please. Why does only ONE of the event sites (that I've noticed so far) have a loot container? The 10,000 and certainly the 25,000 point prize tiers are going to seem unreachable to some players who have limited game time. Even a low percent chance for a "good" item in a loot container dropped by a final NPC, helps reward weekend warriors & create "what will I get this time?" interest in every combat site. |

what no way that benifits just space poors, I want more for me I have close to a hundred mil SP and I want more to unlock more skills at level 5.
