I am a Minmatar, but i started to use Gallante ships, mostly becouse of large drone space, i managed to do most lv3 missions in Myrmidon, fitted with 3 autocannons and 3 nosfi (or two nosfi and one drone upgrade to increase drone range) and drone bay with Ogres, but now i tried to switch to Dominix and i cant make out good setup for it. I need some advice for good Dominix tech1 setup, maybe tech2 equipment i can use for now are tech2 drones ...

Missions? In a dominix? Cant be done.
If youd really like to try do something like this, change to t2/named where possible:
Hi: 1x Civilian Laser, 2x Tractor beam, 2x Salvager, 1 x Drone link Aug(Change for dual 250mm rails for extra speed, less salvage if you wish) Med: 5x Cap recharger/4x Cap recharger, 1x Cap booster Low: 2x LAR, 1x DC, 4x specific harderners.(Can be swapped around depending on mission obviously, some are easier with 1 LAR 6harderners, some are easier like this etc, DC to avoid stacking penalties)
Then again, flying this would require more skills than searching the forums for a domi setup, seeing how this question pops up once a day...

Edited by: Drethon on 02/03/2007 12:58:59 Can't be done in a Dominix? I ran a couple L4s with a similar setup to what you suggested a few months back except I traded one LARII for a hardener and with my poor sentry/heavy drone ( not to mention all around skills ) and cleaned up except for the last couple battle ships which turned out to be a mutual perma tank situation between me and two or three rat BSes.
The same mission I ran with a character I ran up to play with everyone's favorite Raven L4 mission running style and while she beat the mission, she had to warp out two or three times to recharge shields.
Dominix are slower on missions but they seem to be able to tank better, that setup is quite good (especially with better named stuff) unless you wanted to play with a passive shield setup. I built one up yesterday as I'm getting board with trading and wanted to run some missions again. For L3s the passive setup with low skills allows you to turn on hardeners, send the drones and come back in ten minutes. I think it needs more skills than I have for L4s though...

I really didnt thin the irony would go lost, but seeing how it did.
Dominix is one of the best missionrunners around, it can do all lvl 4's with ease.

Edited by: Joseph Valiant on 02/03/2007 13:06:57 Edited by: Joseph Valiant on 02/03/2007 13:05:25 Highs: 3 x Nos 1 x Drone augmentor 1 x smartbomb (for fast frigates) 1 x aggro weapon tech 2 if you like
Mids: 5x Cap rechargers
Lows: 1 x DCU II 1 x large vestment reconstructor or Large armor repairer II 1 x 1600mm rolled tungsten 4 x specific hardeners
rigs: 1 x trimark armour pump 2 x CCC I
this relays alot on drone skills for missions where you just dont want to be there and just let you drones fly about reaking havok, the armour is about 13k the recharge rate is 270/s
an alternative set up would be:
Highs 5 x neutron blaster II's 1 x drone augmentor
Mids: 3 x cap recharger II 1 x web stasis (slows down those frigs) 1 x target painter
Lows: 2 x armor reps (not sure what size is best ie 1 large, 1 medium) 2 x mag stabs 1 x dcu II 2 x energized adaptive membrane II
rigs: 3 x CCC I
this ones more about damage dealing so swap blasters around where needed and if you feel you need more of a tank then feel free to swap out the mag stabs.

Sorry, too subtle for me this early in the morning and I've been so buried in trading and manufacturing for the past couple months that mission running seems like a distant memory

Hi,
I've been using the following set up:
HIGH 5x 250mm Railgun II 1x Drone Link Augmentor
MID 4x Cap Recharger II 1x Named AB
LOW 1x EANM II 2x Large Accomodation Vestment Reconstructors 4x N-Type Hardeners (Mission/Rat specific)
I come back in a Destroyer and salvage after all Rats are gone because I prefer to have more firepower in the mission.

Edited by: Stainless Rat on 03/03/2007 02:00:17 My current level 4 mission setup now that I have 15m SP:
High: 4 x Dual 250mm rails 2 x Drone Link Aug (because I can't fit a 5th rail)
Med: 2 x Drone Nav (so the heavies can reach the target) 1 x Omnidirectional Tracking Link (to make up for the orbit speed bugs) 1 x 100m AB 1 x Cap Recharger
Low: 1 x CPR 4 x Hardeners (appropriate to mission) 2 x LAR
5 each of light, medium, heavy and sentry drones. I usually stick with Wardens for the sentry as they have the longest range and can pick off frigates at 70km. Lights take care of those pesky Spider Drone IIs and the like. Heavies kill cruisers and battleships once they're too close for the sentries.
Of course use whatever named / T2 mods you can. I highly recommend T2 heavies and a T2 LAR. In general, try to engage at max range. First with sentries to thin out the frigs and cruisers, then with heavies for the battleships while moving away to keep the range open. I can solo any level 4 now, no problem.
As mentioned, use a destroyer to do your looting.
I'm considering switching out one LAR for a MAR and then squeezing on more/bigger guns. My setup has shifted from uber-tank to more and more DPS over time as my skills have improved. When I started out I was not doing nearly as much damage and thus enemies were getting in close and hitter me harder. So I was doing more like this:
High: 1 x Small Neutron Blaster (for aggro) 3 x Heavy Nos (all I could fit) 2 x Drone Link Aug
Med: 1 x 100mm AB 4 x Cap Rechargers
Low: 5 x Hardeners 2 x LAR

Edited by: Profhet on 03/03/2007 03:00:17 Hi Slots 3 NOS 1 Salvager 1 Tractor Beam Add 250 Dual Railguns as many as possible after fitting out the other slots, good for aggro, and they deal some damage
Mid Slots 4 T2 Cap Rechargers, or best named 1 Omnidirectional Tracking Link
Lows 2 Tech 2 hardners for each damage type, (4 total) 2 Large Accomodation Armor Repairs 1 1600mm Rolled Tungsten 1 Damage Control Unit
Make sure to carry Heavy Drones particular to the NPCs,(if possible) I love my T2 berserkers :) AND medium or lights to attack the small stuff. If you can use sentry drones, they are nice, they can kill alot of cruisers and up at 30- 60kms before they even get close to your ship, just be sure to be stopped when you deploy them, cause you dont want to be picking up drones while under NPC fire.
forget smartbombs, the ship is not agile enough to bother doing this, and they anger or hurt your own drones if you arent being particularly careful.
forget the drone link augmentor, you can do fine sending your drones out when the NPCs starting reaching 45kms
just make sure to stay aligned if you start getting into half your armor, cycle your NOS or best NOS 3 different targets.
The domi tanks like a mother, but its so so slow that a slow decision to warp out can cost you some expesnive drones, and worst a nicely fitted ship.

1. Don't use smartbombs on a drone ship. 2. Don't use plates for missions, use a repair/resist setup, you'll end up taking tons more than your plate anyways, missions are endurance tests. 3. Don't fit nosferatus for level 3s, the only thing with enough cap to actually help you out are battleships, and they don't appear till level 4s.

I use this setup when i do lvl4 missions in Domi.
high slots 5x 250 railgunII 1x drone augmentor
medium slots 1x painter 1x web 1x injector 2x cap recharger
low slots 1x larII 1x marII 1x eanmII 2x active hardener 2x magstabs
rigs 2xnanopump 1xccc
You can fit also 5x dual rails or bs size electron blasters to this setup without changing anything else.

I beg to differ. Your drones do the most damage, you want to use them for as much of the fight as possible. Most enemy damage decreases with range, so you want to keep them as far away as possible.
I engage at 70km with sentries and rails w/iron charges. Wardens have a 50km optimal range, combined with drone sharpshooting that gives you plenty of range. Depending on the size of the group can usually pop all the frigates and cruisers before they get anywhere near me. Then I switch to heavies to take out the battleships while moving in the opposite direction to keep the range open.
Rather than using high slots for looting equipment, put on the drone link augmenters. Drop a bookmark in each room and come back in a dedicated loot ship after completing the mission. Its much more efficient both for fighting and looting.
