Is it really worth peoples time to sit outside the starter stations trying to con noobs into looting cans so they can pop the poor little reapers?
Come on guys, that really is low. I watched last night as 4 battleships sat in Ammold baited new players this way... what kind of welcome to the game is that?
Bad enough that the rookie channel is full of crap as it is without all the "omg he told me to loot the can them blew me up" whines.

AFAIK, baiting noobs in a noob system using can flagging is petitionable.
And, people that do that are pansies.

who cares? they go back to station with no lost sp, get a new noobship with a free lesson taboot. maybe if more people learned this the first time they left station there wouldn't be so many people getting popped in rens for taking loot out of the can outside btt. sounds like a public service in my opinion.

Silly and petitionable. That said , newbies have to learn that ignoring dialog boxes is bad , one way or another - and most often painfully.

it really is sad tbh. i would never tell them not to however because imo when you tell ppl who they can and can't kill then it stops being eve.
i do struggle to understand how they get any enjoyment out of it though

Pretty much what i thought. I mean you pay 15$ a month for this game right? I mean if I would do this I would not only feel guilty I would also quit eve because I was just waisting my money. ---------------------------

Screwing newbs is great when your 15 and can only get some action from people first trying the "game" out. But when you get older and more mature, you like it when the people you "play" with have a more experience, teach you a thing or two, and that makes the game so much better.
Grow up and quit screwing newbs. Older, more experienced players can teach you a lot more than the newbs your killing, and you'll have one heck of a better time learning.
Spanking or being spanked... it's up to you. |

If you don't like it, wardec them, blow them out of the sky and, in a final act of indignation, blow away their can.

Sure it's lame, but noob ganking lives in all MMO. Some people just really like ****ing other people off. Hence, smack in local, hence noob popping, hence forum trolls.
In the case of the noob poppers well, it keeps an irritating segment of the populace away from the systems I frequent, that's a plus; and since they are day-week old noobs, well either they like it that the game allows you to do pretty much whatever you want and the stop messing with jetcans, or they get insanely ****ed, reward the noob popper with a stream of vitreol in local and don't upgrade their trial account. Those people are probably better off in WOW anyway.
So, in killmails, no not worth it, in loot, heck no, unless you get that 1 alt with the t2 bpo and what are the odds he'd open a jetcan.. but if you like getting a rise out of other real people, yeah I imagine getting yelled at in local is pretty rewarding. I can't really understand the desire but after a week the noobs will live somewhere else and the problem is pretty much solved.

No... no it isn't. Noob schools provide an endless stream of rookie ships. Some may learn , but there will always be more noobs to bait.
It's indeed a bad idea to confront the baiter , he only seeks trouble after all. One rookie ship wreck , one petition and he'll be gone.

if one laks the ability to fight pilots that are pilots for more than 2 days, you have to camp the starter base.

Sorry, what I ment was when said noob leaves the noob station, took me about three days I dunno for the rest of ya, their trouble with grief boy is gone. He of course is still there ganking noobs but for that target and the rest of us he's become that obnoxious segment of the population we don't really have to deal with anymore.

Quote: An example of grief play would be the so called "Can baiting" in starter systems. An experienced player drops a cargo container with some items in front of a station in a starter system and waits for a new player to take from it. The new player is flagged and promptly attacked and killed by the owner of the container. Doing the same in starter tutorial complexes is also considered grief play and will not be tolerated.
Just petition it and have them taken care of.

Yeh fair enough its wrong to "gank" noobs outside the toutorial school. But still it does warn you if u want to STEAL something, apearences can be deceptive yes, but my point is if u STEAL a can from someone u deserve to be shot at, and anyway ud have to be a dumb theif to not see the person who is more than likely near by ready to shoot at you.

I have no problems blowing up the random noobs who stray into low security space, as long as I'm not feeling that the global is a waste of my time...
However, the people who can bait them in empire are a real class of low. Meaning, they get off on the grief factor... which just ain't my thing.

Can baiting i think is lame, but to each his own.
Metagaming is a broad term usually used to define any strategy, action or method used in a game which transcends a prescribed ruleset, uses external factors to affect the game, |
