We've recently joined Privateers and thus our theatre at the moment is empire. Here we work hard night and day to make empire life as troublesome for the alliances as possible.
Fighting in empire, we've noticed a few things that could, from our point of view, be improved:
1. Remove neutrals from overview so that you have the possibility to see only war targets. The feature to remove neutrals are there, it just include war targets for some reason (I figure, as there is no standing set towards them from alliance/corp they are considered neutral).
2. Wrecks/Cans -> Back in the days a 15 minute agression was added when stealing from someone elses can to add a consequence to ore stealing in high sec, etc. When a ship is destroyed the wreck has ownership off the pilot. Offcourse the pilot should be able to collect his gear without getting agression as a thief, BUT, there is currently no consequence for looting a wreck. This result in noob corp alts, or just neutrals grabbing loot from our kills without consequence. I believe this to be even more unfair than people stealing a can of veldspar. Perhaps the ownership of the wreck could go to the corporation and alliances that make final blow AND offcourse the pilots corporation/alliance.
3. NPC corporations -> Trial accounts function so that newcomers can safely have a good idea about EVE and what it's about. In my opinion, NPC corporation should function ONLY as a safe place for newer players to learn the game and try the features. After a certain age the kids should leave the nest and no longer be able to live a protected life in the comforting womb of their NPC corporation. EVE is a game of consequence and interaction. Perhaps after a 6 months period you should be channeled out to another corporation where there would be consequences such as taxes, giving people the choice to join a player corporation (with the consequences that have), or stay in a NPC corporation with an higher than average tax rate. Perhaps they should be able to be war decced... perhaps not, but at least give it some consequence when you choose not to interact with the rest of the game. Don't make it an advantage!
Take a place like Gicodel. Warp to the icebelt. You'll find 20-25 mackinaws. happily mining ice. Safely... they are all in NPC corporations. Many of them warp to station, unload and undock everytime they complete a cycle. This could indicate a macro program running happily 23/7.
I'll add to this as I come up with more.... and when I get more time... there's targets to be shot right now :) This leads me to another issue. There is no taxes for trading / mining. An increased sales tax is needed to make the npc corp idea work.
