Edited by: 0raven0 on 20/02/2007 20:43:41 I was thinking it would be nice to have an 'align' button so we can align to stargates and other places to warp to without having to double click around the object until your ship finally starts moving. Instead of adding a new button though just "fix" the approach button so you can start moving towards/aligning to objects even when they are AUs away. Would save many mission runners and PvPers fingers.
Also, "R'olyat" suggested an "align - gang" or "approach - gang" feature so that you can align the entire gang so that nobody gets left behind.

Also maybe an "align gang feature"?
I think that would be sweet

dunno, seems like this only takes a half second, and can be easily done by anyone already. lets see, theres a planet/moon/stargate, clickclick.. ok, now im aligned.

Nice topic. Only two days ago I (again) wished for the same thing as the OP. For every good suggestion there is often X number of people wanting the same thing that do not make themselves heard. On behalf of my "x" number of people, /signed :)

That would be nice. A couple of times I've seen people accidently warp to planets or moons in between the gate we've come out of and the gate toward which we are aligning. Don't know how they managed it. I guess double-clicking a planet activates warp or something. ---

I always figured they just hit warp to object and forgot to stop ship before warp activated.

Curious, why are you posting this? Are you against the feature? It wouldn't really take much of CCP's time to implement, they would likely just have to check or uncheck a box allowing things to be approachable.
And Sometimes double clicking doesn't work because of lag ect.. This would make sure you really are aligning. Newer players also don't know what aligning is and they die in fleets due to being left behind. Having the feature would allow new players less grief.

That would be awesome, just as helpful as was adding the "add as first waypoint" button.

In many situations, my graphics are sluggish enough that it is nowhere as simple as you make it out to be.
It's a reasonable request. There are too many times I've used the warp button to align but missed the gang warp because I had just stopped warping. Very annoying.
I also wish we could use the arrow keys to steer our ships through tight spots. Pointing one's ship in the right direction with a mouse is often more difficult than it needs to be. But that's another topic.

What about you make a "AI button" that you press and the game plays itself? You can still watch all the action !

/signed on making celestial objects approachable, but no "auto-align gang" button. It would make moving a large gang much too easy.

Um, so you wouldn't use it if it was implemented? You like wearing down your mouse buttons by randomly clicking towards a gate rather than going through a menu, eh? I suppose you still warp to 15km and because WTZ is too easy...
Align to is a most welcome edition. No idea why it was put in gang as a broadcast but no button to do it... ---

People are ******* stupid and take ages to learn how to align. It makes it hard to train nubbins in fleet ops. I approve of this idea and therefore /sign.

Being able to align properly and quickly is an important part of fleet combat. CCP has stated that this isn't supposed to be a 'twitch' combat game, but with the horrible interface lag I have to end up clicking my mouse button as fast as I can until it happens to register 2 clicks with in the correct time span.
If you're not going to allow us to enter warp in any direction then at least give us an auto align.

Until this does get implemented (if ever), I find the best method of aligning is to hover over the object you wish to align with, then press ctrl-tab to hide the HUD, then double click. This allows you to align exactly, and you won't accidentally click on that hidden moon just to the right of the gate... -

about the people who complain about this, you dont have to use it.
would make my life easier, especially for low-sec mining. the extra 1/2 second can mean life or death out in the roid fields.

We have "Warp to 0" why not this, for those making the "making it too easy" argument.
I whole heartily agree with this suggestion! Seems like a simple thing to implement, just turn on the approach button. It's already there when you select an object. Just change the code form disable to enable [;)] ___________________

personally I think warp gang should be taken out. There should be better communication from the FCs to where you are going instead of them just picking somewhere, not telling you, and warping you. I really don't like getting gang warped when I don't know where i am going to. - "Align to" button!
