OK.. Im getting really enoying with almost 19/20 of the people who convo me trying to scam me when im selling stuff e.g.
******* > sounds fair, setup a contract for just me, or my corp. Save yourself a buncha isk and just set the buyout to what we agreed and then something low for the min so you dont get beat on the taxes and contract charges ******* > You'll get beat out of about of a lot of isk that way
I know some people that have lost dreadnoughs to these auctions at stupids costs such as 200,000,000 isk. Yes.. O.K. maybe they should of been more careful when making the contract. If you go into the trade channels all you will see now is people scamming.
To stop people doing these enoying scam offers the auction system needs to be changed. You should be able to cancel your auction even after a bid like a real auction site allows you to. By cancel it should lower some kind of standing with the auction hosts.. there for they should charge you more tax on your next auction sales. To get the auction tax back down, you should be able to increase your standing so much per succesful auction. There for if you have figured you have been a fool and made a mistake on the auction, you can simply cancel it.
It's just really starting to buy me with the amount of scammers that have contacted me today telling me they want to buy my stuff and tell me to auction it to them. It's a waste of my time and effort. Please get something done CCP.
Please post your ideas and thoughts.. I am looking forward to what other people like me think and what alot of the scammers will be whinning about

Never use Freeform, unless its with someone you know REALLY well. If a random person insists, he may be a scammer.
Never use Private Auction, unless its with someone you know REALLY well. If a random person insists, he may be a scammer.
I use Item Exchange and Market, it's all I need, and I buy and sell multiple items frequently. Never had any problems with those.(other than not having an ALL REGION SEARCH)
Yes, CCP doesnt mind scammers, among other things...*mumbles* |

Private auction (or whatever) is still useful for exchanging between alts if you don't have a second account.

People who try to "beat the system" this way by avoiding the taxes really deserve what they get anyway. I don't have a lot of sympathy if they're too dumb to see through this scam. Cancelling an auction just because you don't like the bids you're getting is dishonest, you shouldn't be starting the bidding below what you're willing to accept.

While I don't necessarily believe in protecting people from scams they can protect themselves from, I do agree its pretty obnoxious that people spam you with convos trying to scam you. Its one thing if they put up a scam and the people looking for contracts just have to be wary, its another thing to be inundated with convos like frakking telemarketers. There's no way to tell which convos are legitimate and which ones aren't.
I am unclear as to the rationale behind this scam. The tax is based on how much it sells for, not the starting bid. Are the scammers just lying about the tax system hoping people will fall for it? ----------------------------------------------------

Why? U can also make an item exchange for this purpose. Get rid of private auctions.

I'm not sure if this message is currently displayed when you make an auction to a corporation, but Oveur has stated that while it is allowed, it will be changed soonÖ ________________________________ ~Jiekon ~CCP QA

Allowing auctions to a corp does make sense in some situations (more so for your own corp than an outside one).
Example: Your corporation produces 1 t2 ship every day that can be flown by many of your members, but not all of them have the ship already. The easiest/fairest way to manage who gets it would be to set up an auction to your own corporation (or sister corporation if forced to have a separate corporation to anchor a POS in empire). Your members bid and those that are willing to spend the most get the ship.

The entire point of ingame auctions is that you cannot cancel them. They are totally, horribly useless otherwise. 4. Restricted auctions to corps make a lot of sense. Not everyone is in one man alt-corps. All the scammers obviously are. Changing it removes even more functionality from the contract system (standing-based market is what a lot of alliances whished for ... instead they got ... the contract system) 5. There is no tax on private contracts. No joke. 6. I agree that those scammers are pretty persistant, and annoying:

Yeah I wish they would change escrow, oh wait contracts I mean. Not because there's a chance of getting scammed but to stop the thousands of half-assed scams that waste your time and are just, lacking a better word, lame. Also I just hate the no-risk escrow scam alts that litter the world.
