This seems like a great idea, but it doesn't work for me. I switched to Wine in launcher prefs, the launcher downloaded wine, but then every time I try to launch eve, wine starts up and then crashes tryng to execute some xxxexe.exe thing (I don't remember the name). After four tries, I'm going back to cider. The damn client may be crashing regularly, but at least I get a few minutes in the game.
If this keeps up, though, I guess I'll have to cancel my four accounts. :-( |

WINE still doesn't work for me. Started the launcher, downloaded the last patch (and there was a launcher update), clicked the go button, and it failed to load. Eventually wine spits out "the program exefile.exe has encountered a serious error and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." There was a button in the WINE wrapper window that is supposed to "show details" but when it didn't do anything after 5 minutes, I quit WINE, which generated an "application (WINE) crashed" line in loglite. So I quit the launcher and restarted it. Same problem.
When WINE launches, the following lines appear in loglite:
info2016-06-19T11:23:078C:\tq\bin\exefile.exeiMacs-iMacsvcviewStateService viewState required 0.000 seconds to startup error2016-06-19T11:23:0711063/Applications/EVE Launcher.app/Contents/MacOS/evelauncheriMacs-iMac.localevelauncherwine"err:ole:CoGetClassObject class {5a508685-a254-4fba-9b82-9a24b00306af} not registered" error2016-06-19T11:23:0711063/Applications/EVE Launcher.app/Contents/MacOS/evelauncheriMacs-iMac.localevelauncherwine"err:ole:CoGetClassObject no class object {5a508685-a254-4fba-9b82-9a24b00306af} could be created for context 0x1" error2016-06-19T11:23:0711063/Applications/EVE Launcher.app/Contents/MacOS/evelauncheriMacs-iMac.localevelauncherwine"err:ole:CoInitializeEx Attempt to change threading model of this apartment from multi-threaded to apartment threaded"
So now what? Cider at least lets me get into the game, but I would like to get WINE working if possible. |

Well, Cider started up just fine GÇö until I tried to launch the IGB. CCP, if you're not going to fix the damn IGB, please just get rrid of it. |

Well, for one thing, some of us haven't been able to get Wine to work.
I run Windows 10 in Parallels on this Mac, for access to things like EveMon and EVE-IPH. In theory, that shouldn't cause problems with either Cider or Wine, especially when I'm not actually running Windows, but I dunno, maybe it does with Wine. |

I tried it again. It crashed on startup again. This was in loglite: Exefile SHUTDOWN Crashed (0x80000101) for b1056508, minidump written and uploaded in C:\users\blackshoe\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\ce6268e5-0b57-45df-86a0-908df151402a.dmp but I haven't been able to find that file. I did submit a bug report a few minutes ago. |

Okay. I deleted the wine and wineenv folders as you suggested, and restarted the launcher. Same crash.
I'll see if I can attach the log file to the bug report. |
