If they remove it all that will happen is people who need to buy ISK will buy it off the macroers and farmers. They'll do it on any of the many gold selling sites.
It won't stop people amassing fortunes in ISK or stop them selling it to others using RWC. At the moment the system is somewhat policed and the amount of ISK people do buy limited somewhat.
IMO removing the link would be a bad move. Better would be for CCP to sell GTC for ISK at a fixed rate, adjusting it so only the most dedicated player can regularly play for no cash input. GTCs would then be exchangeable for ISK as they are now but onl through CCP and at a reduced level of ISK. Maybe 200m to buy a GTC and only a 100m to sell one.
GTCs would still be buyable for cash elsewhere but selling it for ISK would only be doable through CCP. _________________________________________________________

Simply put, the problem is that people other than CCP can sell game time for IRL currency. This makes game-time Eve currency and makes Eve currency real currency. That is bad and opens up a lot of abuses.
CCP could make GTCs an ingame only item. When you pay IRL currency the code comes from an NPC corp. When you pay ISK it comes from a player. Prices are fixed and the market is first come first serve- whoever had their GTC for sale the longest gets the sale. This does one very important thing, it ensures that only CCP can sell game time for IRL currency. That means that nobody can profit IRL by converting ISK to IRL currency via game time. The opposite can happen, people can profit in Eve by converting IRL currency to ISK via game time, but this is not nearly as bad.

Originally by: teeze Maybe people should stop trying to control how others choose to play the game and concentrate on playing it and enjoying it themselves, and leave it to CCP, whom so far have produced an excellent product and facilitated the formation of a formidable community,to carry on with what THEY are good at.... Drinking the profits
You win Eve.

i don't see what you think you see.
From what i can see he never said that GTC for isk was going to stop, he just said this is going to change in the future.
They may be going with CCP sanctioned USD <-> ISK exchange where it will be even esyer to get isk in game and USD out of the game
I have been playing since beta, if I decided to quit, I would like to sell my 43m SP character, convert the isk to USD and go home..
but my point is that he did not say that the GTC for ISK was going away, that is all in the original posters assumptions. he only said it was changeing.

Wasn't Project Entropia first MMOG that supported reallife <-> virtual life trade? Playing Caldari-Online as a Amarr specced is PURE Hardcore

You probably don't want to read this, but if you are in such trouble, you might want to consider devoting your time to fixing your RL issues instead of spending it on a MMOG.

You are wrong. EVE is a game of competition and ISK buyers are buying their way ahead, destroying the even playing field for the rest of the players. It's not hard to understand, but it's probably hard to admit for those who need to buy their way ahead.

Originally by: Min Jita CCP actually make less $$/ÇÇ from GTCs that normal payment methods.
Resellers have to make a profit so CCP have to sell to them at a discount. Plus many of them (I know of at least one reseller anyway) pay a % commission payment for alliances to refer members to buy GTCs from them (around 4-5% i believe).
So if we believe that a certain alliance with around 2000+ members is using this as a means to fund the alliance then we can summize that @$40 per 90 days (roughly) x 2000 = $80000 x 5% (commission from reseller) = $4000 per 1/4 to buy GTCs with @ $40 each = 100 x 90 days GTCs @ 350m = 35bn !!!!!!
So now we can see where the problem of abusing the system arises maybe we can think on a way to change it so we can keep the GTC -> ISK on a small scale and remove this blatant bending of the rules.
Now that are a lot of frigs, blackbirds, caracals and celestis.
