You'll get a better responce if you mail them, not sure if the address is still broken tho.
mods@ccpgames.com or something.

If you actually look at the thread I was out bid during the auction.
I was outbid. This thread is not about me winning an auction. This thread is about the countless number of auctions in which the auction rules are being broken.
Yes, its true the reserve wasnt met in the thread linked. Its also true that the seller did not need to sell the character to the winning bidder in the auction.

Quoting an auction that wasn't breaking the rules when your main point is about auctions breaking the rules is way beyond me

He had a "reserve" meaning if the bid is below a "wanted level" he simply won't sell the item.

The only auctions that they'll moderate is ones involving RL funds. (GTCs and Char Transfers, and ONLY if the person scammed followed the procedures fully)
Everything else is free game. Sellers/bidders can do *whatever they want*.

So then why we use the term Auction? By your definition the term for selling characters on this forum in bid form is "No Risk Bid War".
Of course we should also point out those people who retract bids.
TBH, this forum is the most unprofessional part of the game. If you make rules, or bid on an item, you should be held to those rules no matter what.

Edited by: Argenton Sayvers on 26/01/2007 21:58:22 This forum helps you find information about potential deals. Nothing more, nothing less. When you post a bid to an auction, you signal interest that you might be willing to buy the item. When you post an auction, you inform those who visit this channel that you have something to sell, and outline guidelines about how the deal should take place.
Its fine as it is - what is really needed is a GTC/Character sell order forum. And maybe an ingame auction system that isnt pathetic.
Considering that the mods dont have enough manpower to stop evil multi-bumpers, asking them to police tag usage is ... not smart. Crying for GM police is beyond stupid. Starting this discussion with 2 links that have nothing to do with the topic (broken auction rules) ... well.

Edited by: Azrael Bierce on 26/01/2007 21:59:00 They shouldn't allow reserves in this forum. All it does is end up turning an auction into a protracted price check.
Simply make the rules: Post if you are willing to sell the item for your starting bid, otherwise the forum you are looking for is four spots down.

Edited by: Chrumz on 26/01/2007 22:31:03 Wicke, both of those auctions you have linked to expired with winning bid. This leaves the sale of whatever is in question entirely up to the seller. After the auction ends it first come, first served.
Beyond that, if you don't like the rules of a particular auction don't bid. (Not that you were whining about that)

I fail to see where there is any "crying". Im simply pointing out an inconsistency that happened to involve a thread I was involved in.
You are right, the current setup of this forum is something that CCP cant 'police'. Perhaps seperating the forums like you suggested would help.
Of course it would be easier if the mods just created a short list of rules that actually resembled an auction. The concept isnt that hard and would create an envioment that is easier to 'Police'.
Do I think the system will change? Hell no. But I do hope players start saying what they mean and meaning what they say.

Was the reserved revealed before or after the auction was over? If it was hidden, then it's retarded since the seller can just do what was done in the first link.

The bumping rule is hard to maintain. The traffic in the sell order forums is the highest of all the forums. We will not catch them all. If you see a thread that is violoating the rules, please mail us so we can take a look.
As for sellers not selling to they're rules they set, well, we cant help you on that. It is up to the seller to be honest and do what is right.
