Edited by: Merciless1 on 19/01/2007 09:55:26 I was messing around with vivox on the test server and it's pretty nice. It allows you to select and input device and an input line(?), but there's a problem, it doesn't allow you to select an out output device. I use a USB headset because it allows me to set TS and Vent's output to the headset, so I am able to have game sounds through my comp speakers and coms through the headset. IMO this is a much needed feature, anybody else think so?

Haven't tried Vivox yet, but if it lacks this feature, it should be on the to-do list ASAP!

No, but you can invite them to a private convo, then each player can select "Join Audio".

Absolutely, this is crucial.
I use a USB headset for the microphone but I have the sounds coming out of my main speakers (with EVE having no sound of course, EVE's sound is so broken it's not true).
Simply won't use it unless you can specify seperate input & output devices.

/signed.
I have ts/vent/other voice comms going through one soundcard into my headset, while game sounds, winamp, everything else goes through a different soundcard to my speakers. So this is definitely needed. ----------- Join channel 'Turby' or die! (bring pie) I <3 carebears on toast ^^ - Xorus I'll trade you some carebears for some sheep -Tirg

Its a pity they can't talk to Creative to get something at a driver level similar to Xbox live.
What you can do on XBox live is basically exactly this, but without having a seperate soundcard(which usb headsets basically are) it just pushes in game voice through a headset if you have it plugged in and all the game sounds through the TV/HiFi.
Rocks.

I haven't used this, but if Vivox outputs through speakers, and inputs through a mic directly infront of the speakers, will that not result in some sort of horrifying feedback loop?
Or do you not hear yourself talking? ------ ------

First point I don't know but with regards to the hearing yourself you mute Line 1 input (for example) for playback and then its not played back, only the Wave that Teamspeak (or equiv) is outputting is played back.

Yeah, managing feedback is tricky with this kind of setup. I've had to try a few headsets & mics before I've found one that is directional enough to minimize this problem, but it still requires careful volume control adjustment.

I agree with this, and have pointed this thread out to the those responsible. Hopefully it will be possible to add it in the near future.

You rock Redundancy, sombody get this man some Bree. To be seriouse for a moment I think this feature will affect how many people will choose to subscribe to Vivox, personnaly I would love to use in-game voice, but I won't unless this feature is added and I assume many others who use USB headsteds won't either, so again, thanks for looking into it

Surprisingly, someone actually did get me beer.
I wouldn't expect anyone to use our integrated voice stuff unless it's actually better than the alternatives and worth the cost, so it's very much in our interests to listen to what you want from it.

While I do agree it should be an option in the vivox settings for this there is a work around.
Go to your audio properties. Choose the Voice tab (tabs should include, Volume, Sounds, Audio, Voice, Hardware). In this tab set your usb sound card as the default one for Voice playback. ---------------------------------------- A Guide to Scan Probing in Revelations |

I've tried this and it doesn't seem to work, I'm guessing this is because it's integrated into Eve my system see all sounds as game sounds.

Yes, you can set it up by pressing "ESC" then selecting the audio tab. To activate it you simply need to join a player created channel, right click on th channels tab and selcet "Join Audio".

Well, in the audio-tab there is only the checkbox for "Audio enabled" and 4 sliders for the audio levels, nothing else. In player created channels there are only the options "close", "blink off" and "settings" (if it is an owned channel). Am I missing anything?

Well I haven't test this recently but it used to work fine during revelations testing. ---------------------------------------- A Guide to Scan Probing in Revelations |
