Okay, so, I've read about 4 pages of posts (a few of the first and few of the last), ---- so I'm gonna ask ---
1) Will the old launcher update to become the new launcher?
2) I tried to install the new launcher, but all I get is a "download Eve" and "where do I want to install it". Since I already have Eve, why would I want to re-download it? Won't I lose all my settings?
3) I have the "dual" setup - that lets me run two instances of Eve at once, what do I have to do different? |

So I installed the new launcher.
Double click.
Nothing happens.
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, deleting folders, Revo Uninstaller, admin mode, etc; won't work.
Use the old launcher, works. |

I decided to come back to Eve and re-subbed a few accounts, but I can't seem to get back my old settings without going through clunky steps in the new launcher.
I've done:
- Updated to new launcher
- Migrated settings using the wizard on new launcher first run
Does using exefile.exe in its new location not load any settings at all? I understand you can click the "E" button in the top right of the launcher and start an instance using that specific settings folder in the server list, but what I'm used to doing and want it to do is load the settings from before when I run exefile.exe by itself (bypassing the launcher, which I only use for updates). When I run exefile.exe right now, it loads up Eve with all the settings gone. Are there some parameters I can add to the exefile.exe shortcut to launch a specific profile with my old settings without having to launch Eve instances one by one with the options under the launcher "E" button? I'm contemplating re-subbing my other accounts and it's a huge pain already to launch one by one via the server list in the launcher. It's just not as convenient as hitting the old exefile.exe shortcut a bunch of times.
Is this scenario not possible anymore? Perhaps it's possible but my forum search skills are just quite terrible (I've read through a dozen plus threads that contained no useful/definitive info). |

A few small things were shared between them, but more and more settings over time have been migrating to server side, per-character. The new launcher makes it possible to launch all accounts on TQ with a single click of the "Play Selected (number)" button.
My experience with exefile is similar, it seems to pick up default settings. I used to keep the old launcher configured for one account so I could easily close and relaunch that account to switch characters, and start a second account with exefile, but not anymore. The new launcher makes it easy to launch multiple accounts from a single UI.
Some feedback for CCP: I have walked a number of current players through new launcher setup, and find it does not always store migrated settings properly during the first run of setup. Players will copy the settings file from the left side to the right in the client settings window, click "close" then log in an account... and find themselves watching the Intro movie all over again, stuck in default settings. They close out everything and recheck client settings, and discover "default" in the list.
For best results, I'm advising players to not log in an account after the client settings screen is closed. Instead close the launcher, and restart it. Players may see a message about purging obsolete files. Once that's complete, go back to the client settings screen in the launcher, and double-check that your settings file selection was copied from the left side of the window, to the right, and remove "default," if its there. Close and restart the launcher one more time to check that the client settings window shows what you expect, and you should be good to log in accounts from that point. |

The new launcher keeps its startup files (including exefile) in a different place. You don't install it into an existing EVE folder, take the default folder suggestion or make a new one for it. The new launcher makes it very easy to start multiple accounts from a single UI / window, and then it leverages the shared resource cache files you already have. |

I had the same questions about installing the new launcher, as I'm running EVE on a SDD and don't have enough room for a whole new install. I tried the above suggestions on my other account which is on another computer with just 1 regular drive, and it did not save my settings, even when I closed the client and reopened again before logging in. (Do you move profiles before closing the window and restarting the launcher, or don't move anything, close the move window and launcher, and restart launcher?
I noticed that no CCP employees have replied to this forum in a while. |

Could you please send us the launcher logs via a bug-report? Stick my name in the bug-report header and I'll take a look at it.

Thanks for the feedback. We've gotten reports where it seems that the settings aren't being copied (or at least not being used). One thing that you do have to do after copying the settings is to select the profile you want to use for your account. If you don't and if the default account is present in the settings list, you will get the default settings. Not sure if this is relevant to the setups you have witnessed.

Hey.
I've had no luck reproducing this issue.
Do you have any Anti-Virus active which might be blocking the install?
Also, could you please check if there are any CCP or EVE folders in your %APPDATA%/Local/VirtualStore folder?

Could you please try to go to the settings->shared cache settings and click the 'Permissions..' button that fixes permissions of the cached folder.
We have noticed some 'interesting' permission issues on occasion on Windows, and running this has helped in many cases.

Would it be possible that the eve launcher remembers the selected profile for each account without saving the password? The launcher choose always the first profile if you don't activate "Remember this account (Insecure)". I don't want to save my password but I want to keep the selected profile remembered for each account by the eve launcher. |

the problem is that my prev client settings are not migrating the way theyre supposed to with the "client settings" drag n drop dialog box we get in the launcher.
is there a way to find and move those settings manually? or am i stuck rebuilding my UI from the noob ground up?

Again the launcher forgets all my accounts. This is becoming quite the norm. So I log one in and suddenly it remembers 3 of them. Not in the order I had them.
I save my login info so I DON'T have to enter it every time I log in. They are (should be) saved in the order I like to log them in, unfortunately the launcher isn't smart enough to remember player settings.
Is there, like many other things, a work around to get and keep the launcher to work as intended?

With the interface update today (v1000) the profile assigning process has been reworked and your profiles should now be more consistently associated with correct accounts. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=487446 |

I never had a problem with profiles - It's the launcher consistently forgetting my accounts (all or some) that is the issue.
Edit; Back to the drawing board, just started the launcher - I think V1000 is broken - None of my accounts has any profile assigned to it - They did when I logged out last night after resetting everything due to V1000, which was supposed to fix profile association.
My opinions are mine.

I have downloaded and tried to install the launcher several times now. Each time I double-click on the desktop launcher, it displays a dialog asking if I want to migrate my old client settings. I select "No". It then brings up a "Could not write file" dialog indicating that either there is another EVE client running (there isn't) or the file permissions may not be correct. I click "Yes" to have the launcher attempt to fix the permissions for the shared cache folder and it ends up displaying the same "Could not write file" dialog again. Eventually I click "Ignore" and the dialog goes away but on the bottom of the launcher screen it shows "Error! See Log for details 0.0%".
What file permissions is it trying to set? My SharedCache folder is completely empty.
What log file is it referring to at the bottom of the launcher screen? The only log file that I see is the InstallationLog.txt file which I have pasted below.
I almost forgot to mention ... I am running Windows 7 and am the only user id on this computer.

Okey, i've posted this in "issues" subforums few days ago and i do not have any reaction from CCP or anybody else. I'll dublicate this message here.
For last week (aprox) i have constant strange bug. When i trying to start launcher, i got white screen with two phrases "Can not get GUI version" and "unable to write" Atempts to restart PC or restart launcher itself gives no result. This disapeares on it's own without any logic.
CCP fix this please.
PS I've tried repair and so on. Does not work. I do not want to reinstal game. |

Update. I've reinstal the game. Nothing changed. Same white screen and two phrases. I can start the game via small short cut in the upper corner of the white screen. But i guess that it is till next patch :( |
