The December release has been deployed on December 8 during an extended downtime.
This release introduces 13 completely new ships together with the revolutionary Micro Jump Field Generator, amazing new visual (damage) effects, new falloff range mechanics for remote repair modules and energy neuts/nos, a massive increase in grid size from 250 km to 8000 km, a huge amount of module rebalances, PVP killmarks on ship hulls, and so much more. Explore the full scope on EVE Updates!
Alongside those new features we see the emergence of Operation Frostline, the cluster wide storyline event promising profitable loot and a good amount of spaceship action. Check out the Operation Frostline dev blog!
The full details of all changes and improvements are available in the December release patch notes.
Please post general feedback and discussions in this thread.
Report issues with the release on the PC in the December release issues thread. For Mac users, there is, as always, a thread on the Macintosh forums for discussion of this release here.

Is it by design that there's no visual feedback anymore? Like shield boosters, they only initially display an effect and then stops. Same with shield hardeners. Same with armor repair etc. Sort of boring looking.

More changes for the sake of changes....
- The new shield effects don't cycle. So I can no longer count shield booster cycles without taking my eyes off of my ship. A minor detail, but quite annoying. I liked the visual detail of shield booster effects repeating as long as the booster was activated. The feedback has now been lost for no reason. If anything the lack of feedback make the new effects a little boring.
- New propulsion effects have lost their feedback also. You can't really distinguish when prop modules are running and how powerful they are?
- Salvage effects look cool! I like the feedback you get of seeing chunks of salvage cut away by the lasers and tractored in. Nice!
- New vibrancy? I'm not seeing it. Perhaps it's the new blurry AA technique? I don't know, but I can't help but feel that it looks quite dull? Or am I simply not appreciating the new change?

Most of the issues with probe scanning seem to have been resolved, so good work on that :)
One minor thing: While the new scanning animation looks cool, the visual effect only plays once and ends before the scanning process (and the corresponding sound effect) actually ends. It's rather irritating, the effect should replay until the scanning is completed.

All good and nice there, I agree... but the quality of the effect is awefull! It's not at all eye-catchy to see washed out blocky gradients on high end system with graphics pusshed to the max. Is it?

feedback?
- missing items (no big deal)
- camera wont stay zoomed out when docking/undocking. (only a real issue when doing a lot of docking/undocking)
- space looks absolutely horrible now, all blurry and wishy washy. (this IS a problem imo.)
- sounds are no longer relative on distance (big problem as its a PITA hearing cloaking/gate sounds as though you are on top of whatever the noise is coming from).
- map upside down (meh, just a PITA having to flatten/unflatten it every time.)
Conclusion? as most of the problems listed above would be noticed within less than 5 minutes of any testing been carried out, QA department needs a kick up the ass. |

Hi!
I'm a newbie here. This is my first toon. I enjoy playing 6 months for now, so I will tell you what I think about the game and the current patch.
Dear CCP designers: 1. Eve online is the best game I ever played. I'm going to stay here. 2. Eve online has the worst user interface I've ever seen, in aspect information capability.
A few words of explanation of the second statement: EVE is the pretty old game. Most of the users on this forum really do know everything about the game mechanics, market and so on. They dont see that more information would be useful for new players. But for a beginner starting playing EVE is horror. This game cannot be played without asking the other players, checking the internet, reading forums. Most of items on the market is described poorly. There is a lot room for interpretations. For example: Skill Guided Missile Precision: Skill at precision missile homing. [....] Skill Torpedos: Skill at handling and firing of torpedos. [...] One of the first question I had: Does "Guided Missile Precision" works with Torpedos or not? What about Bombs? If this skill refers to the weapon group "Missiles" - it works, but on the other hand it may be limited only to the Light Missiles, Heavy Missiles, HAM and Cruise Missiles. It is not explained in the description. The solution is very easy - just add the another tab in the item "Supporting skills" and this will show which skills will enhance the properties of the item.
Second example (lack of information): I salvaged something and got the salvage material. I can easy check its price on the market. But finding how can I use this material is very hard by searching in-game descriptions. I had to use external services like eve wiki, chruker to check usability many materials. The only materials which are nice described are planetary materials. Everyone final product can be tracked down to the raw materials, and from the raw materials to the most complex material. I assume that planetary interaction materials were added to the game like last ones, but this kind of production browser for rigs would be extremely useful for new players.
All these things enhance new player expirience. You touch completely unimportant things like exchanging "caldari state" with an icon of Caldari, exchanging check mark from green to blue, and so on. Better investment of your time work would be expanding the information base to this point, when eve-wiki would be completely unnecessary.
Anyway - thanks for the good job - creating such fantastic game. |

Of all the new features that have been release, some of which I haven't had a chance to use yet, I find the new grid size to be extremely distracting. Items are showing up on grid at 17,000 km, as well as cluttering the overview while multiple ships fly past making combat and scouting distracting. Things are appearing and disappearing from the overview making selecting items difficult. While I can see the benefit of expanding the grid beyond 250 km but the current size is more than a distraction and could prove fatal. |

I agree that the CCP team should be thanked for their continued efforts to improve the look of Eve. Generally, I can live with most changes in the visuals of a game, so long as it does not interfere with function.
The only real issue I have with this release is that it slows down my scanning process. The color of the probe scans match the color of the dscan, which makes it more difficult to align/overlap the two. And the more detailed probe effects combine to obscure the scan signatures you are trying to center on. It is difficult to see a small yellow "+" amid the visual noise.

Great improvements overall, really happy with this patch!
Few points of praise:
- Scanning with the upgraded interface is a million times faster
- Data sites are worthwhile now
- Game visuals feel smoother when making fast movement (spinning and such), is this TAA?
- Market loads so nicely fast now
Few points of improvement/questions:
- Sigs in the new map really needs to be a tad brighter (those red dots are really hard to spot sometimes)
- Nebulae overlay on the stars look botched, blocky and unpleasant in general
- I cannot spot killmarks on my ships for the world, are these implemented already?
- When in the D-Scan window manually typing a AU distance loads a different filter which is confusing
Great stuff keep it up!
One last question: How long will it take for dust to appear? |

Ok, so it appears that you guys didn't learn your lesson after we had to tell you that when we are probe scanning we need to actually be able to see what is going on. So here it is again:
Either give us the ability to modify the brightness/ contrast of what is happening in the new solar system menu, or actually spend some time scanning on it to make sure it isn't an eyesore that's going to cause strain if stared at for more than 5 minutes.
More specifically: The new probe effects are far too bright and the muted exploration site 'dots' are quite difficult to see within them, and requires quite a bit of squinting.
Furthermore, stop messing with the probe system just because you are bored. There was no justification for it this time, it didn't add anything to exploration and instead creates unnecessary headaches for people that are tired of you changing the system every few months. |

THIS I don't get it how CCP manages to screw up sounds while updating the graphics. Best part is, this is not the first time this happens.
Also, who had the bright (literally) idea to change the Directional Scan cone / sphere colors to exactly the same as the probes spheres?? The signatures colors themself are crazy. I have a 20/20 vision and I'm not colorblind in any way and I still have to strain my eyes to see stuff in the scanning window. What the hell CCP? Also, all this spinning and flickering of the spheres... distracting and unnecessary.
And now, for some examples.
Old, was totally fine. Why was it changed?! http://puu.sh/lN40c/009ca3d704.jpg Spot the signature... http://puu.sh/lO61u/d582ec93fb.jpg Spot the arrows. X marks the spot. http://puu.sh/lO6nf/a567f5ec4d.jpg
Overall the scanning UI has been borked big time. I loved doing exploration. Today, after seeing this, I literally thought to myself "time to quit this game like all the other friends I flown with, CCP does not desevre my time".
Thank you, and check your UI designers for colorblindess ASAP. |

Ok, I'll have to second many people here for the overbrighten stars in space + the new solar scan map.
Then again, visually related to this release - while downloading each patch, I would usually browse the eve updates website for the 'latest release'. And I've have been through this site for many of the previous patches. Yet this timeI'll have to say that some (if not most) of the images lack the visual details eve online used to provide. The 'Introducing New Destroyers', though I understand what was intended, I must say it looks like looks like last minute work done on microsoft paint. And visually obvious, when you have to show off a darken hull ship (eg. navy frigs), you don't pick dark background
Take no offense of my critics. I love this game and try to bring in new ppl therein. I'd just hate for low level visuals to be their 1st impression of eve online, specially on a festive december. |

Hello,
Some feedback without any real order. I doubt you will read, but still :
The Brightness option is awesome, really. One problem, it doesn't work in station or at least it don't show any effect instantly (because I don't have the "Load environment" option on ?) . You have to undock to make it work.
And still, the UI isn't concerned by this option and so the UI is still too dark to be usable, and I am seriously tired to have to double-check where is the fuc... scrollbar/button/whatever I want to interact. When there will be some bright themes or the old RGB sliders ?
The engine effect is... meh, with low shaders in fact. In medium, it does look great. But in low, it is worse than the previous effect (I play in low to spare ressources for others games while autopilot or any reasons).
I don't understand something about the Shield Power Relay tiericide. For me, it looks like the Type-D Restrained Shield Power Relay is the best one. Ok, the T2 version give 3% more shield recharge, but cost +15% in capacitor recharge decrease so depending of the ship, it will be best to sacrifice the 3% shield recharge.
It is worse with the Shield Flux Coil. According to the spreadsheet, the Mark I Compact Shield Flux Coil cost -5 CPU but only -1% less recharge than the T2. Most of the time, there should be enough CPU in the ship to get this 1% bonus, but still, it doesn't really make the T2 appealing. Maybe a small boost is required for the T2 version ?
Oh and thanks for the "Mark my orders" selected by default. I didn't know that this option was here, and it will be really useful. |

What was the point of flipping the map? Just to fuk with folk? Another change for change's sake?
Also being able to see folk 4000k from you just the same as if they were 250k or even right next to you is just lame. If the grid had to be increased then a mechanism should have been introduced that changed the visibility of ships the farther they were away from one another - with factors influencing the visibility including ship size and perhaps electronic signature.

Why has the Command Destroyer Skill a x6 Multiplier? Thats the Multiplier for T2-Cruiser, not for T2-Destroyer. Interdictors, for example, has a x5 Multiplier, which feels right. So the Command Destroyer Skill seems out of line. Any Statements for this?

After years of just looking I am finally fed up enough to actually complain.
Minmatar space looks ugly. Ugly. UGLY.
It's a horror to look at. The colors are ugly and cause unpleasant feelings. It's no fun to look at it!
THERE IS COLOUR BANDING AND COMPRESSION ARTEFACTS ! http://imgur.com/a/Pt8Jw
Have a look at it. Click the images. I even MARKED IT for you to see.
It is completely useless to attempt to make it look prettier when the base is just horrible.
Do you notice the blocki edges in high contrast areas? Do you? I do !
I use a 15.6" 1920x1080 display. It's ugly. Absolutely and outright DISGUSTING and I hate it!
Next are the colours. They aren't right. They don't fit. They look cartoony.
My thrasher looks less realistic than the new (great!) thruster effects. THE THRUSTER EFFECTS LOOK FAR MORE REALISTIC THAN MY SHIP !
Lighting with the minmatar nebulae is just not working. It's too toony. Colourfull. Blocky! Banded! Wrong!
It feels DISGUSTING to fly around in minmatar space !
It is BEYOND fixable! There is nothing you can do, because it needs to be changed completely! It is too bright, the colours are horrible (ever heard of colour psychology ??), it looks fake.
It made me log out, because it ******* disgusts me !
Wah, so sick of this ...
I identify as Sol-kin and I oppose all WiSgender because the white priviledged spacists just want to oppress me with their Avatariarchy. Once the carebears are eradicated, I will stand before them, screaming...

All good and nice there, I agree, but the quality of the effect is awefull! It's not at all eye-catchy to see washed out blocky gradients on high end system with graphics pusshed to the max. Is it? - The new armor procedural damage effect on armor / shield is absolutely amazing and very important upgrade for EVE. Thank you! I especially love the attention to detail, where you can see your crispy spaceship with all the circuit electrical thingies under the armor. Also I love the hull damage effects where your lights start to blink!! Wooo Also thank you it is possible to see the same effects on NPCs, very cool.
- Effects for armor repairing / shield boostering are also amazingly looking.
- The new nebula 3D effects are awesome and they really make you feel you are inside the specific region!
- Really like the little detail of the blue-ish thingy when you / someone else jump off your system.
- Tracking computer graphical effects are nice, but little too small. I think they you could be bigger!
- Space dust on my spaceships I don't see it yet! I guess the dust is added after each downtime starting yestarday? I was playing with my spacehips all day long but they are all clean and shiny
- The Nugoeihuvi skin has been changed from dark red & black spots to dark red only and it doesn't look that good anymore Was it an intented change?
- Really like the supercool image in character selection screen.
- New thursters effects are awesome! They are generally only blue-ish I believe, so with Vargur for example the butt switches from yellow to blue and back to yellow when warping / exit warping. Not sure if that is intended? Also you could add a thingy that when you are too close with boosters to your camera drone it actually burns it away? Or add a temperary black-out in a specific area.
- New DSCAN thingy is looking awesome and fancy, but the new solar map is laggy for me and slowish. Also the new map is somewhat laggish. And it was also even potatoed for me as it showed me I was in null, while I was in hisec! The old map is also swinged by 90-¦, but it actually made the universe feel more alive, lol. Keep it?
- Ship tree renamed to Ship tree is a good call, thank you

I dont know where you got those numbers but looking quickly at eve offline things look pretty flat from june to nov. From nov to the present it looks like we are below average - not to make excuses but that is holiday time and also there were some significant connectivity issues as I recall. Overall, IMO, I believe that EVE log ins are and have been for sometime flat - this situation strikes me as not being great but at least the serious bleeding seems to have abated. OFC I dont think citadels and little tiny new ships are going to change anything. Until ccp gets back to the place where it was with big fights and big scams making the news (and sparking the interest of new players), we are going to just tread water.

The new scanning window sig and d-scan effects need to be toned down, to much bling going on here.
D-scan AU graduations should not be every +/- 0.001 that is too small, make it back to 0.1 for the up and down arrows for distance.
D-scan: I like that when you go to switch presets a side window appears, but why can't my custom filters show up in the parenthesis after the number of items filtered? I think this is some kind of bug, I'm really stick of seeing "58 filtered (None)" on my custom filter, half the time I can't remember what its set to and I have to double check it.
Please stop the probe scanning from popping up as the active window every time I change systems, whether it's a wormhole or a star gate the window always makes itself the active window. Its really annoying because even if you have it minimized it will pop up in your face. I overlap my probe scanner and directional scan so my d-scan is on top when Im flying around and its always getting covered up as I'm mashing my d-scan jumping through wormholes. Change it please! |

- New thruster flames look good - BUT! shouldn't they bend when the ship turns?
- You enlarged the grid - then how about adjusting maximum zoom out accordingly?
- With this large grid overview gets easily cluttered -
why not add a 'visible distance' Slider so pilots can adjust in real time how far they see in overview? OR even set a range like 'from 1000km to 5000km'
Already mentioned:
- dscan cone too bright and the same color as probe spheres
- half scanned signatures are too dim
- shortcut to refresh dscan still doesn't work when dscan window is active - remember that?
- no scrollbar in dscan filters
- new dscan is slower than old one
- autorefresh upon entering new system is... arguable
Also I got infected with a stuck camera bug (this happens when you jump through a stargate with (old) map on) not sure though, some people say it's been here for a while
Also - agreed 100% with Sasha O'Reily's suggestions, but there's lot more to do in this area
P.S. Thanks and keep up the good work! The effort you put in may actually save Eve. Lots of things that I saw abysmal when I started a year ago were actually adressed! |

Feedback to the Scanner Probe Window:
In my Opinion it looks horrible now. I liked the classic view of the New Probe Scanner.
The Red and Blue from the Scan Cones are to intensiv.
Also the pattern from the cones is annoying.
I Would like the possiblity to deactivate it or to activate classiv view for it. (No i dont mean the Old Probe Scanner. I Like the new one)
The Second Feedback is also Probe Window. You cant Center a Signature by clicking the Dot on the Map when the Cube is on it. The Cube overlays the Dot. Thats also annoying and not usefull.

I just read this whole thing and the developers notes and I can see what you were trying to do with the scanner - I'd say good job all around. Maybe the probe scanner just got rushed, I never got a chance to test it on sisi but it should probably be listed as a beta until the big bugs are worked out. That's how we do it where I work, not a bad way of introducing things and having time to tweak them. Like the map for example.

I gotta say, I'm loving this patch so far, but I'm a visual type of guy so can't really comment on the other stuff.
The engine effects look great, the new brighter nebula look great, new damage effects looks great. Haven't noticed the other new module effects yet, but most of the modules that got them I don't use on a regular basis so.....
I do have one request in regards to the shield effects. It looks a little silly to have 15 lasers from 15 enemy NPC's all hitting my shields in one of maybe four spots. I think the impact effect would be greatly improved by adding more impact points for weapons fire to be spread out to. I know, old complaint, but maybe it's time this was improved.
Actually, this gives me another idea =)
You could use the density of weapon impacts to give a visual indication of the accuracy of incoming fire. So, the more accurate the fire is against your ship, the more "center-mass" the impacts hit. It would be one more reason to keep your eyes on your ship and what's going on around it instead of staring at the overview for the same information, which improves situational awareness and visual impression, a two'fer =)
Depending on how you did it, you should be able to use the existing hit result code (Hit, Glances, Smashing, etc) to determine how far to offset the incoming effect from center. Maybe also the God-ray code to give an accurate outline of the ship to build a hit pattern from any given angle.... Gah! You got the gears a turnin'....
Anyway, its just something I'd like to see! |

Shields
Are shield effects supposed to nigh unnoticeable on non-shield tanked ships? I recall nothing in the patch notes stating you required a shield booster to see the effects. I had to zoom in all the way to catch the faintest hint of a shield effect. And even then I'm not even sure I saw anything as it was only seen at a certain angle one time. Every other hit, while shields were up, looked no different than prior to the patch. What was shown in the EVE Vegas footage was not what I see in game.
Armor
Are armor repairers supposed to have no visual or audio clue that they are active? Effectively, the new effect is no effect at all. If you are capable of tanking incoming damage you have no visual or audio indication that the module is even running. Is there no way to keep the green lights pulsating thru the hull and the hum of the module and have the little damaged spots repair themselves. To see even that you have to not run the module at all which you're not going to be doing in any situation other than trying to see the effect.
Or is something wrong and I'm supposed to be seeing and/or hearing something?
Hull
Are the dirt and grim effects not retroactive?
As for the exhaust animations, is it just me or do these new effects not match the ships models? It looks like two separate graphics engines. I had to turn off the trails because they look out of place with the new effect. |

Is it intentional that the green box for anchoring POS mods now works in 1 meter increments instead of the previous 1 km?
It is much more difficult to place mods in order and where they do not intersect with other mods than when the green box was limited to 1km sections of space.

CCP love you long time! Might should use one of my female chars to do so but well, if you are male imagine my female char telling you that. <3
When I logged in a few minutes ago I realised you have changed the d-scan stuff so now I have a scroll down menu for my filters and the "shortkeys" don-¦t mess around with my filters anymore when I manually put the d-scan distance in by using numbers block. This change is making me a super happy capsuleer! |

Still thinking there is a much better way of doing Frostline type events rather than open beacons, if you can find one theres nothing stopping someone coming in at the end of the cycle and getting the loot. Seems like the blurb on this is that CCP want that which I find strange if that annoys/frustrates whomever loses out. |

QUOTE CCP Dolan and the EVE Online development team:-áThe battle was relatively even for some time with CFC and Russian forces holding moderate lead at first and only have a slight lead in Titan kills. Then came a turning point in the battle. Manfred Sideous, the initial Fleet Commander for PL/N3, handed over command to the CEO of Northern Coalition., Vince Draken

How big is the grid now? I see people 12.000km away, and yes, I can click to select them, which leads me to another issue, why are stuff selected when I release my mouse button? ........... The latter drives me bonkers.
CCP fix please :( |

Please, can you remove the new effect you added to the regular shield hardener. The repetitive effect is very unpleasant. |

Worked with the latest so called 'Improvements' for a while now, thankfully CCP did listen to what players asked for, a 'Turn it off'', facility.
Scanning Map, over engineered, fiddly and purposefully confusing in regard to colour contrasts, not really required and seems like another box ticking exercise.
The new Map, again like the New Scanning map, WHY!.
Iconography, again another box ticked, but for what purpose.
Expanded Grid, My only thought here is that CCP finding that the Icon spoof did not have the desired effect now thought they might just fill up the overview with 'Stuff' in a bid to catch out the unwary, thank god they forgot to remove the filters element....Ooops! Should not have said that.
And what the hell happened to the graphics here guys, ships now appear flat and bland in space, jagged and poorly rendered in stations even max everything has no effect. Or was this another ploy to get players to buy into that ISK sink, Skins, that equally bland and utterly useless eye candy that any real Pvp player will never see....if he has any sense at all.
And finally what's with this 'Operation Frostline' farce, No Salvage, No Bounties, Pitiful Drops and no challenge to a player at all tbh. Get a grip guys, it's even worse than the Blood Raiders thing, at least we got something out of that one.
Somehow CCP lost there way, blinded by there own hype unable to face that fact that Past changes have crippled the game, lost them players and income, they still persist along this failed path, Comments....'Nothing here, Move along'. And your PB is doing just that,....Or is that something else you have not noticed, I guess the title of Eve online, an old tired game run by old tired Devs that have simply run out of ideas is one you enjoy.
You asked for feedback, well here's some.....you lost and WoW won and nothing you have done in the past eighteen months has had any impact on that aspect.....Tick That Box. |

steve62j2 I'm pretty sure it was designed this way. Maybe travel to a remote system and do them instead? |

Note : Repetitive effect is required on a shield booster but not on a shield hardener. It's visual feedback. I'd very much like to know if someone has shield/armor hardeners active before I engage them. However I also understand that the new hardener effect probably wasn't meant to be looping in the first place. Sooooo change the effect to be less wavy perhaps? |

I just wanted to say that PvP Ship Kill Marks is brilliant. It's by far the best thing you've added to the game in years. I actually thought my friend was pulling my leg when he told me about it. |
