And Immediately activated and canceled my WoW subscription. God I wish I had known about this game when it came out. This is absolutely incredible.
For any of you here reading to see what the game is like, just play trial. Won't take you long to see what this has to offer. I'm so happy I'm here! I finally got killed last night in .2 space and it was the best gaming experience I've ever had :)

Welcome to Eve Snugg. But just keep a tight hold of that thought. Because Eve will draw you in and suck you up. Then come the day you loose that Uber new ship you have just got and taken month to train for, and raising the iskies and skills to fly it. Eve will rip out your heart and trample it in front of you

Best thing to remember is this:
Do not fly what you can afford to lose.
That is, if you can't literally lose your ship and all its modules, then hop into the same ship with the same setup, don't risk it. Yes, it sucks to wait until you have at least 2x the money to fly that new ship... hehe... but it'll save you a lot of grief.

Eve likes to suck you in... Chew you around, swallow you and dump you out again in a big pile of ****....
Then you grow into a nice wonderful player again only to go through the process once more. --------------

Ok I was shocked at how awesome the actual game is, but getting 7 replies to a thread when Ive declared myself a nub, and getting 0 "learn to plays" and being treated politely......I need to sit down. This is the first time this has ever happened on the intarnetz. Take screenshots guys.

It's funny. This is the only online game I keep coming back to. I leave for a little while, then find myself back here again.
Just reactivated my account today.
What have I missed in the last couple of months?!?!

Edited by: Ngwee on 10/01/2007 18:29:44 Welcome to EVE.
It is an incredible adventure - so strap in and enjoy the ride.
My best advice is to not fly what you cant afford - as has already been said, and after that to join a good corp asap - being with players who will become your friends makes a huge difference.

And trust me, it gets even better with time and some new skills you can buy (and those train also offline) to open even more opportunities for you in this game.

Welcome to a forum where people are forced to be reasonably polite... upon threats of bannination .

Ya, well, the EVE community as a whole is quite possibly the most mature MMO community out there. I can't say for sure, because I haven't tried them all...
Then again... often the forums are less of an indication of said maturity then the actual community in-game. ----------- My Bio in Progress Prologue / CH.1 |

It's weird. It's got the most maturity of any game I've played, yet at the same time it has the most juvenile smacktalk I've ever seen... because of how much you do lose when you go pop.

Most immature kiddies cry and leave the first time they get killed, while the mature players stay and learn how to be the one doing the killing. I call it the WoWFilterÖ
As a result most of the 'L2P noobz0r' crowd go back to playing WoW.

Smacktalk is a mind game most people fall for.
In any case, welcome to Eve.
As for the 'Don't fly what you can't afford to lose' thing, I have a different philosophy:
Your ship is an explosion waiting to happen, the trick is surviving long enough to sell it to the fool who gets it blown up.

..or how to avoid those types who like to kill. In the case of Privateers, just steer clear of Jita, Oursulaert and Tash-Murkon Prime and you'll be fine
