Another thing to try is to go to Setttings, Shared Cache Settings and hit Verify. That will clear out any corrupt files from the cache. You may need to restart the launcher after running that (something I need to improve).

Is this still a problem? It seems like the launcher is having difficulties decoding the gzip compressed file (index.html). This error usually happens when the file is not gzip compressed but the website tells you its gzip compressed. Might be some hiccup on Amazon.

Maybe there is something going on with caching done by the QtWebEngine. It lives in %LOCALAPPDATA%\CCP\EVE\QtWebEngine. Close the launcher, rename this folder to something else, then restart the launcher. See if that helps.
The drawback is that you lose the accounts you had remembered - you can either add them again, or put the folder back, deleting everything but the LocalStorage folder.

i got the problem that the BETA launcher seems to have problems with downloads or the shared data.
it want to download 240MB but only download nearly 1% /hour. i have 50mbit/s and all the other stuff (you know, porn for...research) works fine.
restart or search for corrupted data didnt work, still the same slow download. |

i have the same problem. diagnostics sais client.eveonline.com is not reachable. rest was fine.
i am trying the old launcher as we speak and it seems like its stuck too.
how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Something else that is driving me insane.
I use my clients in "windowed" mode. But launching the clients results in them not taking their previous window resolution.
My profiles are setup: http://i.imgur.com/NttB2bp.png http://i.imgur.com/iUPMg4y.png
This is how it looks when launched. http://i.imgur.com/wQ08PKb.png
These are the display settings before I expand: http://i.imgur.com/Jr89fKA.png
These are the eve settings after I expand the window. http://i.imgur.com/292PA7i.png
But after I close the client they reset back to the 1024. BUT settings for other things get remembered just fine per client.
I expand the window by "maximizing" it rather than stretching. |

welcome to the club. windowed mode, full screen. best way to play multi client on a single screen and not spam alt+tab all day long.
CCP has somewhere, somewhat decided that "windowed" mode needed a resolution setting instead of windows status setting no one else does, but did that ever stop ccp? ;)
so windowed mode has a stupid dropdown setting for resolution... AND IT CANNOT BE SET. infuriating. and of course it doesn't rememeber the "maximized" status, only a default resolution that is changeable through a lot of clics...
I'm going to offer you "my" version of the workaround : a script that will maximize the all the eve clients launched with a bonus, it also minimize backround client (unfocused ones) to save the earth by consuming less cpu and gpu this is optional but ideal for mono screen. just copy the script in the launcher folder, run it to launch the launcher (yeah, lol, a launcher's launcher.... but hey, you do what you can as you can, the post explains how to make a shortcut to the make a nice icon and make it look like the real launcher) this link in eve, follow the instructions
if you don't want minimizing : put a sharp (#) before this line
[UserWindows]::ShowWindowAsync($hwnd, 2)|out-null # 6 = we minimize the windows near the bottom
not fun stuff about that : new eve launcher is clearing all the files in the launcher folder, so each patch you need to re-copy the script in the launcher folder. I did ask a few times here to stop deleting files from my computer, bah, I worked around that |

I am not even trying to multiscreen launch most of the time. It affects a single client which is the most infuriating. I play windowed mode because I multitask to ****. Fullscreen is a horrible mode for multitasking and "Fixed window" may as well have its own monitor. |

A small suggestion for the beta client if it not come up before.
I like the idea of have multiple log in at the same time. But is it possible to have an option to add a master login key into the client locally on your machine?
For the people who plan to perhaps save there different passwords for there different clients and just use one master password every time they start the game?
No need to have the master key saved on the server sense its just a extra security for us paranoid eve people! |

yeah, for some reason the beta deleted all my saved patches. their isnt even any option in the beta launcher for deleting all patches after the download. and even if so, why the hell where they all deleted? now i have to patch again with a 30GB data traffic internet connection. im really pissed right now, he even deleted them in my backup file.

Launcher version 990283 on Windows 10 Pro
Two errant behaviors:
1) Immediately upon startup, the launcher will enter into a "Not responding" state and the user is prompted by Windows to kill it. evelauncher.exe nor its child processes consume any CPU during this time according to Task Manager. The mouse cursor is a spinning ring of death when moved over the UI.
and on the rare occasion that it doesn't do that:
2) The UI will be sluggish. Mousing over the UI elements which highlight themselves becomes a laggy afair. If I watch evelauncher.exe in Task Manager while I scrub my mouse over the face of the Launcher window, regardless of the location of the mouse cursor, the process consumes up to 20% CPU until I stop scubbing my mouse. Actually trying to launch a client fails to happen.
However, the right-click context menu for the task tray icon reacts speedily.
One minor issue:
1) The network test function where it pings client.eveonline.com will fail in all cases as ICMP appears to be blocked for that address. |

Do you have Norton or something like that?

You went Qt way, that is awesome! But here is my input on new Launcher: 1) Actions in SystemTrayIcon context menu spawn new Dialogs every time triggered. Result is ... well it's not cool) Same actions run from dropdown menu (next to minimize and close btns) results in dialogs being modal (which is cool). 2) Network diagnostics dialog troubles displaying locale-aware text , in my case Cyrillic. But i guess someone already mentioned C866 earlier

QT is the easy way to get a browser web app on PC and MAC at the same time without having 2 devs team QT is now chrome based which is not what I would call the "best" way to present something especially when you have interference between your chrome personnal settings and the launcher behavior. isolation ffs.
and excuse me but a glorified "light" browser consuming 300MB of active ram, (not counting commited set and virtual) is what a Firefox with 9 tabs of random browsing is consuming right now on a box where I post (or 1 Firefox with a flash plugin lol). I don't care about RAM (I got enough) but the launcher is about 40% of 1 client. or 3 times old launcher... ah well, I guess the minimum HW requirements will change again
so I really don't share your "awesome feeling". I *DO* like the effort and functionalities, all the work being done is amazing (lots of functionalities, devs listening to what community want, nothing to say there) I do appreciate the "future" programming feeling that everyone is going to for the last few years where coders don't have to focus on mastering photoshop. and designer do their job, coders do their jobs. I just have a philosophical problem with QT, and chrome on a general basis.
and that is in now constructive at all, I know. there is no alternative to qt for this, and I am absolutely not asking a change about that, I guess I got ticked off by "awesome"

On launch it freezes up the PC, screen starts flashing from sort of black with cursor visible to completely black as if screen was turned off to whatever this is http://i.imgur.com/MyElzzF.png sometimes to white

do you have chrome installed on your computer ? if so, can you go ahead and try to disable hardware acceleration? ( link to a HowTo )

QT does not use chrome, it uses chromium. Chrome contains chromium. Chromium is not chrome. Embedded Chromium DOES NOT USE YOUR CHROME SETTINGS.
