I am an agent, not the principal.
My client has asked me to find out some information that doesn't appear easy to get. She is still a freelancer, and last night was victimised by a pirate using CONCORD's arcane rules to blow up her ship without penalty in 0.9 space - which cost her a lot of isk, as it was loaded with some exotic equipment.
The pirate in question is in his own corporation; however, publicly available info reveals that he is the only pilot in it.
She's not the sort of lady to take this lightly, and wants her money back from the perpetrator - either that or evidence that he has permanently retired. In this instance a corpse won't do, as they are far too cheap at this pilot's level of skill.
So how much would a smallish merc corporation charge for this sort of service? I say "smallish" as the job is probably not worth a large corporation's time - and her money isn't infinite.
We both know that declaring war involves some cost in bribing CONCORD, but how much more would be involved? How much total, as well?
Answers please on this channel; I am semi-retired and may not pick up GalNet messages too quickly. ---------------------------------------------- "Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent." ---------------------------------------------- |

people who pirate really dont usually care if someone war decs them, and for a merc corp to chase down 1 person and kill him would be near impossible, since it ismost likely he will choose not to fight.
You can try anyway, if nothing else they could keep him trapped in a station and make his gameplay very boring. But your friend has lost her isk and i highly doubt she will get it back.

Edited by: vanBuskirk on 28/12/2006 11:42:33 Thank you, Darkness. The money is secondary to making a point, I believe. Especially as the cost of the contract would probably be more than the isk lost to the pirate. Essentially she would like to make this guy's life miserable for a while, stop him preying on others and stop him making money. Permanent retirement would be a bonus.
She thinks (and I agree) that those who rely on legal loopholes are the real scum of the galaxy. At least low or no-sec pirates take SOME risks.
Question remains; what sort of contractor fee are we talking about? ---------------------------------------------- "Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent." ---------------------------------------------- |

Contact Surreptitious of Privateers. We'll wardec anyone, just wire him the 50m that the wardec costs us and send a mail stating the corporation you want decced.
I'm not saying anyone will take the specific job of killing this pirate but it will make his moves around empire a lot more difficult.
Here's a link to a forum post about this.

Thanks for that info. Is there an ongoing cost? I know very little about the CONCORD war system.
If it helps, an agent location trace can be supplied. ---------------------------------------------- "Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent." ---------------------------------------------- |

CONCORD sanctioned wars last 1 week, they cost 50 million per week.

What technicality are we talking about? Is it one thats allowed, or one that is an exploit. If its an exploit then its deliberate use a cause for 'Mod Hammers'.
The other option of course is to pod and scramble the pod and hold it in place with webbifiers, until downtime. If he logs - report it. Logging is an exploit. 23 hours is a long time (and if you get back on before him after downtime, just scram and web, and stick on the next dvd).
Repeat until...

heh... And if that ever happened to me, rest assured I would report the pilot scramming + webbing me with the sole intention of keeping me there until downtime for harrasment and griefing. If you're going to pod them, pod them. Otherwise let them go. Well... ok.. for harrassment. We all know griefing is a valid career.

This is possibly the worst advise I have read in these forums.
1) pod self destruct 2) logoffski is not an exploit - everyone has the right to ed their gameplay when they choose 3) Doooh immature and in bad form. 4) nuf said
