Hello,
I remember when doing some courier missions some time ago, I hauled a cardboard box, not knowing what was in it.
Can you package goods like that when creating a courier contract, and if yes, how do I do that?
Thanx in advance!

When you set up a courier contract it aitomatically places the items you want hauled into that box your talking about.
Back in the day you could set one up to be picked up by yourself. Tried recently with Contracts to make an order for myself only and couldnt seem to get it to work. |

Okay, so the one taking the contract actually never sees what he/she is hauling?
Unless pachage is broken and with that the deal is off, I lose the goods but I keep the collateral, right?
If that is so, then it works as I hoped, thanx for the info.

Yes, items were placed in cardboard boxes back in the old courier system. That did not guarantee anonymity: people could still open the box, even if they don't break it. Breaking the box meant that they would either take something out of the box, or repackage the box.
I would not be surprised if that is also the case with the new contract system.

Edited by: Wendat Huron on 25/12/2006 08:34:07 Why was the courier missions changed so that the potential takers can see the employers name? That just opens up for more theft. If I don't want the courier to know what I'm moving I might not want to let them know who is moving it in the first place.
If this is about people putting up missions to stations where you cannot dock then let the name of the issuing party be known once and if the mission fails for them to take action against that party then.
There's really no need to disclose this information and I'd like it nerfed back to pre-Revelation status.
How again were people able to open a courier box without breaking it and failing the mission?

I quite agree. I do not think that people should be able to see who the creator of the courier contract is.

Simply double-click the box just like any other container. That always worked for me. It was rather fun looking inside the box to find out whether or not it would be worth taking the the item and losing the collateral... ;)

A courier can see what they're carrying. Opening the container to look doesn't break it and doesn't void the contract.
I'm a full time courier and I must admit, I love knowing who has issued the contracts. Some I filter out because I know they are always rubbish jobs but the main reason is when doing low sec runs, I am VERY wary if the person who issued the contract is in system. e.g. yesterday I picked up a job from 0.3 space with 1.1 billion collateral. The package contained 20 Antimatter Large charges. Loud alarm bells ringing! But at least I could see if the issuer was online and where they were....

I just did another courier mission, and you can (still) in fact look into the container.
However, I do recall that before the Revelations patch, the container was named something like "Start Location > Destination Location [size]", whereas now the container is simply named "Plastic Wrap", which is highly annoying if you're trying to run several courier missions at once and having trouble figuring out which container is the one that needs to be moved where. I've thusly filed a bug report on that... ;)
