http://strawpoll.me/5559952
I have spent the better part of 4 years frequently visiting F&I and the GD forums, like many of you I've had the relative misfortune of watching threads get reposted over and over again. People it seems are notoriously fickle and that there are as many currents drawing on the development team as there are human beings at a keyboard.
So today I have thought to post a strawpoll on the matter of what the general populace thinks they want from the game. Please do link and spread the poll to your corp/alliance mates via the appropriate channels your group uses, let's get as many people in on this as we can. CCP already know about the EVEo forum regulars and their opinions - it's really crucial we start polling the rest of the population whom may or may not be under instruction to avoid this place (allegedly RAZOR frowns on it, I'm not actually sure, YMMV).
It would also be great if respondants could be encouraged to write a paragraph or two detailing their choice and the reasons for it.
Of course this requires me to go first;
The ship rebalance.
Let's look at a few outstanding cases here in isolation and then weave them back in to the greater whole. First up is T3Ds. As the newest member of the EVEo family they have created massive waves across the universe due to unparalleled and frankly in the svipuls case unbalanced performance for cost. At merely 33mil/ship they were possibly the most cost effective sub-caps available, with entire fleets of them being deployed in nullsec and lowsec to abuse their unique versatility and cheap price. Since that day they have been toned down where necessary - but with svipul and confessor occupying both first and third place respectively I think there is a strong case to be made for further work to be performed on at least these two vessels. I'm not advocating a buff to the other t3d's, I'm advocating nerfing the svipul and confessor more so that they are balanced against what the game is designed around (which is not T3D combat).
Additionally there is the long overdue T3C rebalance. This is a real doozy, there's so much to say here but it's just running over old ground. Most combinations of subsystems are without merit. CCP aren't publicly prototyping other ways of running these ships and frankly I don't think they should keep the subsystem mechanic in place. Do I want mode switching for T3C? No, because if T3Ds are anything to go by the T3C will just become even more horribly broken in the process. T3C's are a milestone for many players and deserve being dealt with and soon.
Capitals. I will talk strictly about dreads and carriers here; apart from the revelation most of the dreads seem functional. They do their job. Whether that job merits expanding on is a matter for debate and one that has commenced in smoke-filled rooms beyond the eye of regular folk. Carriers are another sensitive topic. For me I would have said these ships could be limited to just deploying fighters and doing their logistics tasks. Compensate for this by expanding the radius of their refitting ability and dramatically increasing their internal storage. It would be nice to see some more mobile fleets with perhaps a carrier or two at their centre. Do carriers without sentries and non-XL drones merit an increase in their jump range? Who knows. At least we should be able to debate it.
Supers and titans; another sensitive topic. CSM member Mannfred Sidious created his own thread on the matter but I fundamentally disagree with everything he said. As a member of PL (which owns one of the highest concentrations of supers and titans in the game) he stands to benefit from this far more than anyone else he posits that proposal to. No I think Supers and Titans should be done last, as they are the crest the so called pinnacle of ship flying then it stands to reason they should only be touched once all underlying mechanics and ships are strong underneath them. I would remove all highslots from supers bar 1 each, and remove jump bridging from titans. These are combat vessels. They have highly specialised weapon systems, they shouldn't be getting used for anything but shooting other ships.
That's my feelings on the matter, please do post your own thoughts on what you chose on the poll, spread the link to your friends and let's get a grass-roots look at what we want done. CCP say they are metricing data but from who I have NFI.

Aside from ongoing improvements to the Sov system and balancing issues, I think the UI really needs some love. Not graphically, but the UI framework needs love. It needs to be more customizable in where you want to display information and needs better support for multi-monitor setups. More freedom to decide for myself on what screen I want the Neocom and current system information. More freedom to resize windows beyond their current minimal sizes. The client fully supports bold, italics, underlined, so buttons for these things would be nice. Inserting a URL into anything still doesn't work and adds a redundant HTTP:// to the front (has been like that forever, no-one has ever remotely bothered to fix it).
All those tiny things that would just make life that much better.

Their top priority definitely needs to be more pizza and other delicious treats for the development teams to keep them fuelled. I'm happy for them to focus on whatever they see fit, though I would like them to make a decision on whether or not to remove the attribute system. |

I voted pvp mechanics, specifically wardecs. Every corp that tries to build itself in empire gets wardecced by trade hub huggers so now most people in high sec are in 3 to 8 man corps, doesn't do much for retaining new players. Same for suicide ganking and CODE, it just chases away new players en-masse.
Yes it's not in the spirit of the game to hand hold people, yes it's a cutthroat world, but it's also hemorrhaging players so maybe a rethink might be in order. Let the empire people have their bigger corps and mining and missions without being constantly decced and harassed, and let them grow and move to low / null when they're ready.
Trying to force people to pvp when they don't want to doesn't work, they just log off for the duration of the dec, or they leave said corp. Low sec that is partially claimable with the new citadels might one answer. |

Bullshit that's a haiku - where is the 5/7/5 structure? Where is the implicit reference to the seasons? You need to brush up on your Japanese poetry, son!

My gripe that admittedly isn't interesting to many in the playerbase is that I want CCP to do anything else with the Tier 3 BS model..
The Tier 1 and Tier 2 ships get so much love but the Tier 3 have got sod all since they were introduced. (ship skins don't count in my world)
Domi - Navy Domi, Sin Mega - Fed Mega, Navy Mega, Kronos Hyp - Hyp..
Scorp, Navy Scorp, Rattler, Widow Raven, State Raven, CNR, Golem, Rokh - Rokh
Geddon, Navy Geddon, Bhaalgorn, Redeemer Apoc, Impoc, Navypoc, Paladin Abad - Abad...
Etc for the minmatar rust
You get my point
C'est la vie, it isn't a priority :) |

High Sec should be reduced to the rookie systems, and maybe the 5 major trade hubs. The rest can be converted to low sec space.
Carebears suddenly find rewards are harder to come by so easily, which means that in effect, it would give a MAJOR buff to carebearing, because the rewards would mean so much more!
Miners in particular would benefit greatly, since minerals would be trickier to obtain, along with an increased demand for them with more explosions happening in what used to be high sec space, and more people needing new ships. So mining would probably overtake incursions as the best way of earning isk!
The mercs would suddenly find their services much more in demand too, so that would also be a buff.
Low sec would obviously be a much more fun place in general, with so many players everywhere, and given the increased general level of danger in the game, players would probably be much more likely to play in 0.0 space too, because the leap would not be so massive from the other areas.
It's like buffing the whole game really, for everyone. Nerf concord! Destroy high sec! |

This was a tough one for me to come up with, but I am starting lean towards Pirate rats not being static anymore in Null sec. I do not think that there should just be one place considered to be the best that never changes (Sure it could be an economic problem also).
This stagnation IMO, just looks like an open sore to me. Rats along with their respective complexes should be able to contest these outermost areas to stimulate older players and shake the pot up a little. This will either be one of the best ideas or worst ever. I do know it would cause sovereignty to shift more rapidly as juicier targets with greater drops migrate to other areas. Module sales in Null would become more amorphous along with ships. These changes should NOT happen to quickly though. There has to be a feeling of accomplishment for defending or taking these areas while at the same time, Incursions that grant greater wealth should only occur in low or null sec respective to their value. This would prevent huge ISK faucets from running in high sec.
Rat migration... if implemented should happen either with suitable warning or with each major expansion. Alliances would be tested more frequently and the whole game would probably move faster.

Think i will throw up some 1-2 line ideas here and see which ones might provide relevant discussion/support or flameage instead of writing a WoT.
Mining: Do away with static belts, make them necessary to scan down using indy ships only, allow for many smaller dense belts that can also be claimed by a new deployable so anybody not part of corp/alliance goes suspect if they try to mine a claimed deposit site.
FW: Any non-militia member entering a plex should instantly become suspect. They are a pirate or just someone trying to interfere in the legal military authority of the militias fighting over them.
OGB: it needs to be gotten rid of....you want boosts...risk your ship on grid.
Neutrals: to go along with OGB, neutral repping, links, anything to with wardecs and neutrals being involved should make said neutrals automatically suspect if fleeted up with WT's or create a new flagging that makes the neutral a WT for the next 24 hrs the second they start to interfere.
Industry: a novel idea but not new...allow for things maybe like refining 100 broken armor plates to get 1 Armor Plate...basically a way to get higher end salvage.
Misc: Things like clothing for example...if the item is on the market but basically doesnt exsist in someone's Hangar...can CCP at least put them in the NES store or something so that players can obtain them one way or another.
Moongoo: Empires losing control huh....ok plenty in highsec can make the amounts very dismal...but give us the ability to get some even if it means a lot of time...nullsec does not need to keep the monopoly since highsec can not control a monopoly on the ice markets. |

They need to finish ship rebalancing. I don't think it should be their "top priority" so to say, but it's been what? Two years?
It's going to be the elephant in the room for any future changes until it's completed.

CCP should work on more fun engaging pve content to get more ships undocked and in space. As much as eve is a full-time pvp game, pve content is still just as necessary. Think for a moment where (I'd wager) most day-to-day pvp happens, it's Highsec; and why highsec? Because it is full of easy kills that get the hunter-killer types out in pvp ships, and if this was happening mostly in low and null then you would have a chance to form a defence fleet to protect your bears from these hunters.
WH content is largely focused around finding ratters, highsec content is ganking mission runners/ haulers, nullsec content is mostly due to sov, and lowsec content is, well, just people flying around for giggles. If CCP can develop fun PvE content for low and null that sees more people undocking (not in multi-billion isk ships) to run the content then I would imagine that will lead to an increase in hunters and a corresponding increase in content for those hunting the hunters.
A case for more AoE in EvE
