Edited by: Skrot Nisse on 10/12/2006 10:22:20 Hi guys, im most likely the 1001st guy posting this. But my petition hasnt been answered for decades and im growing impatient. My specs: p4 3.4ghzHT 2048DDR2 RAM on a P5AD2-E Del m.b.(asus, with latest bios) SB Audigy Platinum GF 7800GTX Win XP Pro 100/10mbit Fiberoptic connection(89mbit to station)
Im getting about 25-30 FPS whil ein stations, 7-14 while in space(sound off), and everywhere between 0 to 5 fps while in fights. Its the exact same if I play in 1680, as it is when i try 1024 resolutions. Ive tried to switch to w and z buffers, 16bit to 32bit, advanced device=1. Tried to turn off ALL options in the nvidia controlpanel, ive done the "Boost your FPS"-Tweak Guide from top to bottom. Theres nothing that helps... My corp friend has about the same specs but an A8 Model asus motherboard instead, and a 6600GT gfx card... he get about 150+FPS in stations and around 60-70FPS in space, at all times. Does anyone know what i should do? Cause it aint that fun really to try and play when the mouse stutters three meters a time :P I could add my dxdiag if someone care to read it all :o btw, im using the latest nvidia drivers atm... someone tol dme the 84.21 forceware drivers were better, mebe I should try those? Having difficulties beliving itd boost my fps 600% tho... :p :) PS I just reformated as well... if that helps(insatlled latest drivers) DS
/** EDIT If i turn off the UI/HUD, i get a boost of about 15-20FPS /** EDIT

think i had about 150m
seems that some data was interfering somehow. usually the cache stored the clicked pics, some texture of encountered objects yada but as said i had a huge fsp drop one day so i killed it :-P
evelauncher does not kill your settings if you only hit "clear cache" btw :) ---

We have got the same problem. And I've also sent a petition but like you I haven't got any replies yet.
Our computer is more or less the same also. I however run AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 1024DDR2 Ram and so on. I do however own a ATI RADEON 9550 and that's where I think the problem lies. I was woundering if anyone could help me out and give me a few pointers in what to do. My max FPS at the stations is around 30 and average FPS is 20. In space my max FPS is 10 and average is around 5. I've even tried playing with sound and effects off and it's all been futile. It doesn't even matter if I play in 1280x1024 Resolution or in 1024x768. W or Z buffers don't change anything nor does it matter if I change from 32 bit colour depths to 16..
I'm all out of ideas and I've searched this entire forums for help but everything I've tried so far has given me nothing.
Please help me. Thank you in advance. Best Regards // Concellor

Cmon guys it is obviously that something is baddly happen with the client performance after patch. Too many of us have been reporting lower performance with less than half year old machines which should run EVE smoothly.
Caches cleared, all kind of game reports deleted, disk defragmented, eve reinstalled, still having sudden bad performance, approx 30-40% of fps loss
I also noticed that bad performance hits occasionaly, not related with peak times
I hope that next patch will resolve that

Thats the setup my buddy uses, and has worked fine pre and post-Kali. Gets a little laggy in heavy combat and the like obviously, but much better performance that what some are listing here.
Concellor: I also have a laptop not too far from the above specs, but with a dedicated 32mb Radeon 9000, and it works alright - better than you listed atleast.
There's a good chance this has to do with other factors than Eve, like spyware/malware/virii' taking up resources, although you should notice this slow-down in all applications then.
Just to cover all the bases, might you want to make sure it's clean. Some to try:
Adaware Spybot S&D
Also update your anti-virus and run a full scan. AVG is a free anti-virus if you don't have one.
Also wouldn't hurt to do a defrag.
Not saying this is the reason. It's possible there's something conflicting with certain hardware, but nobody that has posted seems to have much in similiar. If this was really wide-spread it should affect everyone, and so far I haven't had any complaints from friends or corp/alliance members.

tried to install them omega drivers as you said. But when the computer reboots it deinstalls them and my monitor drivers? ...
If I then press "install frmo specific location" it just ignores the omega drivers, the regular forceware drivers from nvidia works fine though. ----------------------------------------------

ya. spyware was already checked, came up VERY clean, no ie user at all he is :-P
skort. meant that you uninstall the driver first, reboot, ignore the installwizard, hit the omegadrivers, it may (or may not.. i use the ati verison of it) then reboot and then should proceed to install the omegadriver
tried killing the folders i mentioned (if you needed the logs, you backed em up and moved em away right ^^ )
didnt helped i guess? :-/ ---

While I hope your problems are solved I do hope the solution to performance problems isn't upgrading. Eve should run more than adequately on a 7800GTX.
Nice card though, let us all know if you see an improvement .

dont forget to UNINSTALL driver for vidcard first, throwing them above your current driver can cause some issues, but usually "works". but you want a clean install :-P maybe even "nvidia destroyer" or whatever the thing is called to wipe the driver

Edited by: Idami Raptor on 13/12/2006 16:12:03 Hmm. That's a tough one.
Couple thoughts.
Hyper-threading is basically a simulation of a dual-core processor. everything I've ever heard is that Eve doesn't like dual-core.
It probably isn't this, but make sure your Vsync is off if it isn't already. Can't hurt.
Also, sounds like it's having trouble with transparency. Could also be shadowing(since the UI has some surprisingly heavy shadowing effects), I suppose. Probably worth peeking at your video settings. Things to look out for: Soft Shadows. Any kind of Post Processing effects(IE: Bloom). Temporal Anti-Aliasing(Forces VSync on for it to work, only really helps with a highframerate and high refresh rate). Could also try setting the UI full opaque and see if that helps any, I suppose...
Edit: Oh. that'd do it too...lot of cards slow way down if they don't get enough juice...

DO NOT install the Omegadrivers if you have an Nvidia card. Nvidia completly screwed up their drivers, and omega refuses to work on them until they change them and get their act together (Nvidia want to make it hard for people to mod drivers). Only install them if you're an ATI card user, they're officialy recommended by ATI if you're having issues. ---

Most probably an issue with some other part of your setup then. Something you've overlooked, or a driver you've missed, because it's working fine for a large portion of people (nearly everyone). Try and bare in mind that there's no 100% 8800GTX supported Nvidia driver yet, and you will need a 16x PCI-E slot to make use of the card.
On another note, I noticed you have Win XP Pro. If you do not have SP2, you will need to install it as EVE does not support anything below XP SP2, and 2000 anymore. ---

Doom3 and Oblivion are graphics card intensive, not CPU intensive, which is what EVE is (it makes far more use out of a faster CPU than a faster graphics card). Try tweaking your processor in the bios, disabling HT'ing, etc. ---
