Edited by: Tolarus on 08/12/2006 09:17:17 Was talking to a few mates not to long ago about probes and system scanning. With the skills and training any pod pilot can find out what types of ships are in a system and locate them easy enough. Had this idea kicking around in my head, thought it would be neat if there was a module that could be fitted that would block scans from identifying the type of ship its installed on, just have the ship type show up as '?????'. Would be great for setting traps, draw in a careless pirate, lure lawful pilots into an ambush, keep war targets guessing.
Pilots would still be able to locate a ship fitted with one of these but have no idea what kind of ship it is. Maybe its an easy target, say a mining barge or it could be a fully loaded fleet issue battleship. Pros, cons, suggestions? Let me know what you think.

Maybe make it an area effect. All ships around the ship with the module become unidentifyable. Seems like a wast to me if everybody would need such a module.
(This could be also an idea for a new T2 support ship, maybe the new BCs?)

Yeah! Maybe even have it be a deployable device that has a limited area of affect. Capital ships wont fit, but there would be enough room for a few ships depending on their size.

It should also scramble the identity of the individual in local, so that other players/factions (with the exception of concord) cannot tell what alliance the player is part of, or what the player's name is.

even better would be is it makes any combat ship show up on the scanners/scan probs as an Industrial. so well just imagine the suprise when someone scans out and sees 20 Badger Mark IIs, says oooh free money. and jumps into a fleet of Blasterthrons at 0km.

Better yet, you could acquire transmitter modules for every type of ship and then use the module with your skill to conceal your ship as a different type on the radar.

Anything you add to a ship that's called a thingy, I'm in favor of.
