Anybody else seeing this weird white jagged overlap around the perimeter of planets post patch? Or is it just me?

its supposed to be an effect as you would hain real space where the light is refracted off the atmossphear and you see a soft 'glow' around planets. I guess it looks jaggidy to some. . .

I've noticed this too. Some planets look lovely with a nice atmospheric glow around them. Other planets have jagged clipping of the atmosphere on the surface. Some planets show the back side of their rings right through the planet. Still other planets will show the glare from the star behind them, blinking off and on rapidly.
All in all, it looks like an issue with the depth buffer.

I think the OP might be referring to the z-fighting (not a perfect term for what's happening, but close enough for forum work) error that's occured since Rev in the different layers of the planet effect, not simply the effect itself.

Edited by: ArchenTheGreat on 03/12/2006 11:05:41 It's not only planets. Stations, some wrecks a lot of stuff have z-buffer errors now. The worst example I have seen so far is here:

Edited by: Stabs on 03/12/2006 15:38:37 I've been noticing them too. A lot of flashing textures and clipping bugs, their annoying.
Doesn't seem to be an issue with drivers or certain cards because a lot of people (with very different setups) are seeing the same thing.
Not seem Z buffer problems like that for about 10 years now :P

It's an old bug. Visible since I remember on Amarr stations. I spotted it even on CCP videos. Problem is it became a lot more common now.
My theory is CCP scaled up everything ingame in last patch which produces more problems with Z-buffer now.

Since the last patch, planets with rings have a horrible flickering problem as the part of the ring behind the planet keeps changing its mind about whether it should be concealed by the planet or show through it.

I've noticed the same thing on 3 different computers. It happened after Revelations was released. Rings messed up, jaggy seperation on the day/night terminator on some planets and moons. I took some screen shots and sent them in as a bug report.

Wow, I'm really excited now :P I can't even get the damn patch to install right, and I have these errors to look forward too?
It just gets worse every minute...
