So, one of the rigs as this as a discription: 'This ship modification is designed to increase a ship's chance of salvage retrieval at the expense of max velocity'
And when viewing the patch notes this leads me to the conclusion that when blowing a ship up (in missions for example) you don't get any loot without these rigs. Am I correct in this?

You can still open the wrecks the same way you opened cargo containers and see the loot - whether you can remove it or not, I'm not sure.

You get to loot them as before (not that the loot in missions got another hit to the head.).
For rig production components you have to salvage the wrecks with a highslot module. --*=*=*--
The cause for this is not yet known, but we do have a possible fix in testing. by Sharkbait | 2006.09.20 |

You can loot in exactly the same way as you did before. But now you can get special modules that allow you to salvage the wreck to get additional goodies.

To clarify: The Salvager I (highslot module, not a rig) is the basic salvaging device and is all you need to salvage from wrecks. The salvage tackle rig is an optional extra to improve the process.

Edited by: Dante Xaphan on 29/11/2006 14:30:17 So you do need something fitted in order to loot? Which is it now, yes or no?
And fitting rigs costs 'Calibration'? And where can I find 'calibration' on the fitting screen in a station, I don't see it.

Looting: no item needed to loot Salvaging: Need salvager to loot
If you want to find your civilian miners you dont need a module if you want to find broke guristas computer relays than you need a salvager. The last stuff you can use to build rigs. If you dont want to build rigs and cant be arsed to salvage than you can still loot the wrecks. . Seriously Have I Not Said How I Can Assist Some One You Are Killing Online? |

So far, every ship I've seen has 400 calibration. It's under the fittings tab.

does the rig 'pop' after you salvage it, like looting did before. if not, looting just got a whole lot harder its a real pain to loot right now, as i dont have skills for salvaging, and all those empty hulks have put me right off

My Navy Comet has 350 (only ship I've checked), so perhaps it's based on class.
If not....boost faction ships.

Its dependent on class. some get more, some less. faction ships get the shaft in no small way. meh

Faction gets 350 because they are improved tech 1. Tech 2 ships gets 400.

You can also shoot the wrecks to make them go away. My question is if you loot or salvage someone wreck, will you be criminally flagged?
