Eve is a product, nothing more. If devs continue to be unprofessional in thier manner, there will be less EVE sold.

Yea the lack of information from CCP is annoying.. like last time when they changed to the latest DX9 and expected pepz to have that.. we all know how many posts there was then about it.. Altho they have improved on that this time they have made a program to convert to 3D instead and made a post about it.
I know the access to SISI is a priviliage not a right.. but like said they could atleast have made a post about it in the KALI section, or on the MOTD.. how hard would that be....

Oh dear what a poor perspective some people have.
Eve tranquility server is the game you pay for. SiSi is a test area where the dev team and bughunters like to see people testing contructivley and tolerate people just getting one step ahead of the rest of the eve population.
Jeikon has politely let you know that Sisi is being used for the fanfest. He did not say anything like "like it or leave"
As for suggestions that the news item be posted or a MOTD. I am prepared to bet 10 million isk that if they had done that then there would be more complaints not less.
At the end of the day SiSi is there for testing around 300+ days a year. A big chunk of "testing" that is done by the players is the players testing setups or playing a counterstrike version of the game in FFA for a break from the regular game. I am no exception to that. That being said if CCP feel that SiSi could be put to better use running a PvP tournament for their most loyal customers then thats their right and anyone getting upset at this doesn't really understand the bigger picture IMHO.
FWIW I was going to spend a few hours over the weekend testing. Unlike a few people I can accept that my plans will have to wait. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I've actually wanted to help testing, but considering every time I try to logon to sisi it's either maxed out, down for the count, or not available. I really don't feel like waiting two hours in queue just to help test out new features.
This isn't worth my time. I'm not getting paid for this. The only real benefit I get is by bug reporting Kali might suck that much less.
Access to Sisi is not a right. But it is a responsibility of the Dev team to make it available for its purpose, testing. It's ironic that the Devs feel that a PvP tournament is more important then a weekend of testing.
So essentially how I feel is if Sisi is not available to use when I want to (i.e. my free unpaid time) then I won't do any more testing. That's one less tester, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. -=Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds=- |

Remember that next time you are asking people to help you test expansions. Testing expansions for the Devs is a gift from the players not a right. We are this close to Kali release and you are holding a ******* pvp tournament on the only test server you have. Dumb fricken idea.

Umm... not sure why people are upset? Jiekon is right. The test server isnt included in the subscription. You cant make any demands for it to be up, or accounts to be activated etc. If you dont want to help ccp test stuff, there are plenty of other people who will... im not sure what the problem is here?
If its about the "god given right"-comment, was it really that bad? People are very sensitive here....
How about because they beg for us to help them test their buggy ******* game then they turn around and treat said testers like crap for asking why the test server isn't up. The Devs of this game are really turning into condescending *******s.

Edited by: Athena Minoko on 11/11/2006 18:32:28 I too, would love to help test. I've managed to get on Singularity ONCE in the entire time I've been subscribed to this crummy game.
I think I'm just going to give up trying - Kali is going to be a mess probably - it's been delayed forever - anyhow, so there's nothing we can do as players except continue to enjoy the wonderful courteous professional customer service.
Edit: Oh, and I love my forum Pic. Thank you

Most loyal customers? What the **** is that comment about? So because I don't go to one of their stupid fanfests I'm not loyal. So I guess all the money I've paid them over the last 3 and a half years is not showing loyalty?

I think which you laught ?
You have a another solution : pay 200-300 BH for play only on this server !!!
With the numbers of bugs on SiSi and after on TQ ... You need to add a second test server yes ! One alpha test server, one beta test server and TQ because the number of bug on TQ after a patch it's a catastrophe !!!
Watch the number of patchs on Dragoon and number of bugs still actually on TQ !
Players make bug report for free and for somes bug, CCP don't patch and don't give any answers !

furthermore, wtf kind of definition do you have for 'most loyal'...ahh you mean the richest customers with no real life responsibilities that can afford to fly overseas for several days to play a video game...ahh yeah im not that loyal. i see since we dont have more money than we do blood cells and we have families and jobs that dont say its ok to fly overseas to play a video game for several days...we're not loyal enough. basically if you have the money and time to give ccp they'll give you a lag free environment...ahh thats why tranq gets laggier every day and all the threads involving imbalance take months to years to be adressed.
this thread for me was just out of curiosity because i dont have the time to check every fricken thread about why i cant connect...but it has brought up some rather interesting issues involving the test server and our feedback...
ahh yeah and as someone said before...brilliant idea to shut down the test server testing kali content this close to "release" with more problems than solutions still present. then again wow's expansion was just pushed back a month, so theres some more time to try and scoop some new customers... isnt the new warhammer coming out too?

You know, while the general idea that they could have informed us ahead of time may be true, i honestly don't see what *****ing and moaning and flaming to / at the devs now is going to do about it.
Yes, they could have stuck it on the launcher page, but they didnt... oh well? Whats done is done, get over it, its not the end of eve for christ sake...

Why do DEVs reply to measly little threads asking why SiSi isnt up and never state their opinion on all the threads in this forum about game balance? *scratches head* ---------------------

I am very grateful to have access to the test server. It's interesting to try out new stuff in a relatively risk free environment. When something doesn't go right I can report it and thus improve my playing experience when the new software is launched.
My subscription feels like it's going towards the entire EvE experience, which in my mind includes the test server. It doesn't matter if I really am paying, or not for the test server. If my access disappeared I would feel like I was getting less value for money.
Of course the guys who have paid good money to fly to the Fest should be allowed to enjoy their PvP tourney.
I am guessing the Dev in question isn't using his native language and sometimes this results in English being spoken/written in a more matter of fact way! The guys would probably acknowledge that they should have put up a message on the intro screen for the test server telling us why we can't log on - it's just a common courtesy, it's just good service in a commercial relationship with your customers.
Whenever in my business I have to decide how to treat my customers I think of class leaders and how they would fix the problem. I guess the team should think about how Amazon, Virgin Airlines, Majestic Wines et al would run the customer communication/services department.
Not being able to control every utterance of your team comes with growth and all small companies have the same challenge as the business grows beyond the things that worked when it was a start up. Bear with the team... they are learning!

I'd only request, that you update the MOTD on the singularity server to say "Server out of action during Fanfest" and an expected date when it might be available again.

No, telling people they're acting like something is their "god-given right" is not being polite or professional. Try it out where you work if you have to deal with clients and see how it flies.

If we, regular players, didn't have access (not that we've had a VAST amount in the last 3 weeks anyway) then testing for this new release would take HOW MUCH LONGER? Alot for sure. Ask any company that uses "customer" testing to test out it's products... it's a hell of a lot quicker, and a hell of a lot more useful than just in-house testing.
So it's fine that the PvP tournament uses SiS, but it would have been nice to have been told, or for it to be put on the MOTD. It's another example of lack of communication from CCP, IMHO.
I`m sorry you feel upset about my comments, but it is true. Singularity is CCP's test server. They control who accesses it and who doesn't. Many people think it is their god given right to access the test server, but this isn't the case.
I agreee that without player help, Kali testing would be a more complicated matter and we ARE gratefull for the valuable input gained by our players.
As for the lack of communication, LeMonde did make a post here regarding the matter.
Im sorry but you are rude, abrubt and need to learn some manners, you do not talk to customers like you are talking to them, regardless of your personal feelings

Rude, Abrupt..... sounds to me a lot like most of the eve players to me! So the test server goes down for a few days, you pay for access to tranquility not sisi. Who cares if you cannot get to try out your new BS for a few days. BTW if you take a few minutes to look through a few threads in these forums you will see that the devs and the whole of ccp have taken a huge amount of abuse, rudeness and profanity in the past few weeks and i cant say i blame them for coming close to the mark themselves. They are trying to get out a major expansion to what must be a major network and to cap it all they have to listen to all the bloody whiners and crybabys "waahhhhh... i cant get on to test the drake....waahhhhh" FFS Grow up and let them do their job.

A few thoughts -
1. Meeting rudeness with rudeness doesn't solve anything.
2. Who said anything about testing the drake?
3. Getting an expansion is going to be alot easier with several hundred unpaid testers, all they need/require/desire is a BIT of communication on the test servers availability. Some feedback on issues/bugs raised. Some amount of information on what has been changed (focus areas).
I see SiSi is back up ... but with a Dragon patch.

I mean that right now SiSi doesn't have Kali/Revelations on it.
The MOTD says -
We're public testing a small Dragon patch before we deploy it to Tranquility. Revelations will be back Tuesday nigh
In other words CCP are testing a patch that is going to go on to TQ.
