Well something weird happend to me a whle ago, i was happely rattng n my brand new tempest in 0.0 terretory. Then all of a sudden some pirate warped in flyng a domi, i said Oo and just bailed out, seeing as am a relatively new charter and he was not.
All was well untll he jumped me again, and locked now at this point i had some backup from a mega flying around there aswell and took the chance, i just opened fire with my arty's and made him run. But then somethng hit me when was looking into my character screen.... i lost 0.5 sec standing, i was under the impression you don't loose sec-standing n 0.0 or was i misinformed somehow?
Ps: Prolly lot's of typo's so don't kill me for it

you don't lose any sec status for kills/attacks in 0.0.
not sure what the deal was. maybe you ran to a system other than 0.0 and thought you were still in 0.0?
I thought since this game is called Eve that I'd play a female character. Is that a good enough excuse for a guy? |

There are a few systems which are shown as 0.0 ingame but have a "true" security of higher than 0.0; afaik these are the 0.0 with names instead of letter/number combinations.
There's a site with true security ratings of all systems somewhere, can't remember which though, sorry.

There are some "Empire" systems that are listed as 0.0. You would lose security status and be attacked by sentry guns in those systems. Even though the security status is listed as 0.0 they are still considered Empire because they are in a region controlled by an Empire Faction. They aren't true 0.0 but are still considered "low sec."
There are systems like this in regions like Aridia, where it's almost entirely low sec but still under the sovereignty of an Empire Faction. Usually they border true 0.0 space and so maybe you just didn't realize you had actually moved into Empire space. I know I've completely forgotten what security space I was in the heat of chasing someone/being chased around the border systems. It's a nasty surprise when the sentry guns pop you.
This is the only explanation I can think of. Otherwise you should report it as a bug.

I may be wrong, but read somewhere that it's not a matter of empire or non-empire space, but a simple matter of rounding numbers! There are a few systems that have security levels of something *like* 0.02 or similar, but it rounds to 0.0 on the user interface (display).
As someone mentioned though, I think these all have proper names, as well, there aren't very many of them like that.
