IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR MAC USERS!
Today we released an update to the client that adds download on demand functionality. Unfortunately, this functionality is not backwards compatible with the old Clonemaker. Fear not though, as we have resolved this issue and you can download the compatible version here.
To summarise, each clone would create its own unique repository of cached files which greatly increases the space requirements if using cloned clients.
To fix this, you will need to delete any existing clones that you use, and recreate them using the new version of Clonemaker linked above.
Please give us feedback or raise any queries you have in this thread.

Can SIS and TQ share the same resource cache?
I already had one for SISI so now have 2 folders: C:\ProgramData\CCP\SISI C:\ProgramData\CCP\EVE

by the way a question regarding the clonemaker.
I didnt use it because it kills my installation before sometimes, i simply login again using "switch to another user".
What is the benefit if i use the clonemaker for my differnt accounts ?
Can i also use a clone for sisis login after the change to download on demand client ? |

The Clone Maker keeps saying it is broken when I try to open it.
But, Show Package Content and navigating > Contents > Scripts > main.scpt and double clicking that and then hitting the run button in Script Editor, made it work.

Do you use clonemaker or are you running all from the same base client?

Is this a warning generated by gatekeeper regarding security issues with the tool?

Base Client via EVE Launcher. Never used Clonemaker. I'll stick to official CCP-Tools. |

Clonemaker creates another set of prefs folders but doesn't duplicate an installation. We have a known issue that in certain configurations, whilst multiboxing using a single uncloned installation, closing one client would freeze the other (as mentioned earlier in this thread by Ian Blackbird). Using clones works around that issue without you having to have multiple EVE installs taking up space.
It is possible to use clones for test servers, but this is not recommended as it requires using terminal or bespoke .command files to connect to the server.

OK, if this provides any reassurance, I have extensively tested this version of Clonemaker (provided to us by our partners) and have yet to experience the client crashing when a clone is closed, whereas using the Switch User functionality of the launcher I can still reproduce the issue.

We're in discussions with our partner regarding it, they are aware of the issue and that issue exists on their side. We are endorsing Clonemaker as a solution in the meantime.

It's the Mac that says the clone maker was broken and refuses opening it. Turning off the security-standards in your mac's preferences will help. |

That should've been fixed, can I ask you to check a setting for me? System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General tab: What is "Allow applications downloaded from:" set to?

Was the Clonemaker code not supposed to be properly signed with the latest version? Having to fiddle with security settings is a Bad Thing (TM). |

Yeah it was indeed, and I just verified that. I just want to be sure whether they have their setting correctly set to "Mac App Store and identified developers" or not.

Ok, just fired up my MacBook Pro (mid 2012 model). Converting 13 GB of existing assets plus applying a new 28 MB patch took less than one minute. Solid state storage rocks, and also: nicely done, CCP. |

Ohe thing I noticed that isn't necessarily broken, but is a Bad Thing(Gäó) about the shared cache. It's not installed in the Applications folder, or the /Library folder, it's installed in the /user/Library/Application Support folder *of the user who ran the update*. This means either a: someone logging in to a different account on that machine won't be able to play Eve, or b: That person can play Eve, but only because the Eve client is somehow bypassing security restrictions on accessing other user's data.
Please seriously consider relocating the cache to the main Library folder to avoid potential problems with this. Well unless you have a specific reason for wanting different users to have different game installs, for all practical purposes.
