Please be aware that any discussion of real world politics from here going forward will result in the removal of people's ability to forum post.
There's not a huge amount that we can say regarding what's going on internally surrounding discussion of this change in the law for citizens of the Russian Federation.
What we can say, is we've been aware of this legislation since it was announced publicly, and our legal team are in contact with legal representatives in Russia, who are working with us to ensure that the transition is smooth, and that we're compliant with all the new legislation that's going to be put in place.
Right now, there's not really a great deal more detail that I can go into, but once we have more information, you guys will be the first to know.
Regardless, our community comes first and we'll make sure that we're compliant so that players living in the Russian Federation can continue to enjoy EVE Online in the years to come.
Thank you for your concern about us :3

Maybe they'll just setup a DB server to host all russian customer data in russia and forward all request of those players to this system internally. |

You're dealing with eveplayers here falcon , just put a lock on it and sticky it in the russian forums once the ''details'' are ironed out.
Or not and the inevitable lock will be a few posts away .

So all the nations doing this are going to force another level of (in)secure servers in order for people to do business over the internet. Yeah, that's going to work out just fine. |

As someone on the U.S. side of the payments gateway end of this, I can say a couple of things:
1. I don't think it's ultimately going to turn into that big of a deal. Yes, I'm familiar with the Russian law. 2. The law itself--steering well clear of why it came about--isn't all that clear.
The angle many U.S. companies are taking is that it's the unencrypted form of the payment method that constitutes the information the Russians want to keep on their soil and out of various other places.
Storing the encrypted form of the payment method's details is not exactly the same and might get around certain parts of this law. I would say it gets around the letter of this law, but maintains the spirit of the law.
All that is to say that my company is attempting to work around things in this way, and we think we will be successful. I have no idea what CCP is doing or attempting to do.
But again, I won't be surprised if this turns out to be a relatively small issue.
I honestly feel like I just read fifty shades of dumb. --CCP Falcon

Captain Semper wrote:Hello CCP, i have a question. 31.12.2014 a law on PD was passed and starts work at 1 september 2015. In a short this law means that all companies, sites and etc must keep russian personal data at servers that locates in Russia. Credit card number is a pd so i wont be able to pay with card. Even more - email is a pd so eveonline.com will be blocked with my provider if you (CCP) will not keep pd in Russia. So what will you do with that? Do you have servers in motherland? :/ Link for more info about this law http://www.bbc.co.uk/russian/russia/2014/12/141217_russia_personal_data Id be more concerened with the fact that political moves like that means your country is gearing up for isolation, or more extreme independence, which means you might have a war coming up, or at least open preparation for having war declared on you.
In short, EVE is the least of your worries, getting drafted and send to fight over the freezing northlands of europe is alot more of a concern |

Well, simply put, CCP can not really do much about that law that has obviously deeper reasons behind it given Russia's current economic state. They want people to return home from off-shore and conduct their businesses in the homeland.
The real power will be with your own people in Russia, but after following the news, I completely understand if people decide not to complain about policies of their own country. |
