Edited by: Alain Dezor on 11/10/2006 06:26:23 Hi, just have a quick question.
I've been grinding level 2s for a while, and ready to move onto level 3 missions. I have assault ship skills trained up, just saving a bit more money to buy one.
Which would you recommend for level 3 mission running? My skills are about evenly split between drones and gunnery, with a bit more in drones. I've flown a Vexor for ages, so I'm very comfortable fighting in a drone boat. Also any setup suggestions would be much appreciated :)
Oh, and please don't tell me to just go buy a Brutix, my friend already did :P I would rather stay away from BC size ships, I like small size boats better :)
Thanks!
edit: forgot to mention, I'm a 3.5million SP character, lots of secondary support skills. been ratting in low sec most of my career, never run missions before now.

I tried some L3 missions with the Enyo and did ok. My skills was fairly low, the problem was usually sustaining cap if I had the AB on trying to reach a target or tanking the dmg. Try to get the AF skill to 4 if u havent and good luck.
My strategy was to kite the small ships first, the big ones was usually no problem once u couldnt get webbed or scrambled. Going up against missile defence was tricky...
A tip is to read about the missions on Eve Info before you accept and reject if it it feels too risky.
This was my setup if I remember correct (check out this sticky for ideas Linkage):
Hi 4x 125 Rail II (with Spike S) Small Nos
Me 1mn AB II Web
Lo SAR II CPR Mag Stab I (did not have the skill for tech 2 back then) Energized Basic Adaptive Nano Plating (...or some equivalent which gives resistance to all dmg types... you could also change this to something which only give us resistance to the perticular dmg type you're up against...)

Definitely Enyo.
Using drones is a good way to get swamped on lv 3 missions, plus they'll die a lot.
I use t2 125mm's and a standard launcher, with an AB and a heavy tank fitted. It does pretty well, although you'll have to use hit-n-run tactics on some of the toughter missions. Oh and do bring that single light drone with you, it will be a good distraction for npcs for a couple of secs. ------------------------ I don't believe in sigs. |

Drop the web, and get a cap charger in there, no need for the web on mission, will help run the AB all day long :D SAR II in bursts, but it is very workable, and a bit more interesting :D

Edited by: Alain Dezor on 11/10/2006 07:32:06 Thanks for the suggestions guys!
I was talking with a friend earlier, he pointed me to this Enyo setup:
hi: 3x 125mm II 1x best named standard launcher or best named rocket 1x best named small Nos
med: 1x 1mn AB II 1x best named webber
lo: 1x SAR II 1x EANM II 2x dmg mods
Personally, I would rather put an CPR in the low instead of one of the dmg mods, much like what Ka Mi has there. But question for what you said Svenholio, is the web really unnecessary? Would the rails not have trouble hitting?
In reference to the setup I put above there, I only need to train for T2 EANM and T2 rails, I can do the rest already, so I'm pretty set.
Thanks again!

Neutron Enyo with constant AB and SAR II sustained with CPR. Its fun
I wouldnt advise the ishkur, drones become a liability if you cant tank the whole spawn.
Caracal with extenders can do them just as good and is much cheaper though.

personally i dont get it why u fit a small nos and a web. theres absolutly no need to fit these 2 modules. i would never leave station without 4x125 and a rocket/missile launcher in the highs (rocket launcher preferable t2 if u wanna shoot frigs with rockets too). switch between spike and antimatter ammo depending on which range the npc frigs r. with these 4 125 babies u can lock 2 frigs and shoot with 2 guns at each frig, and they pop so fast that u`ll have probs to lock them fast enough ;)
drop the web for an eutectic cap recharger and u should have no probs to run the ab and rep 24/7 or at least long enough. if u fit a web u have to get closer then healthy, cause then the rats will web u too and that normally means ur in trouble. stay at range as long as possible. your guns will have no tracking problems with antimatter ammo.
another thing i never fit on my enjo is a eanmII. if the npcs do exp dmg then fit an active hadener. if not fit something more usefull like u said a cpr perhaps. always keep ur trans speed up and everthing should be fine.

T2 Ammo for mission running?
that's the least of its problems - sniping setup requiring range, no hardners, no cap sustaining capability. I think this poster was typing without thinking of the OPs original request...

The Enyo setup I used on lvl 3s for a long time worked well, frigs either insta-pop or don't last long and as long as you keep moving cruisers can't hit you.
Highs: 4 x 125mm II (antimatter ammo, can hit from 16km down to 0km) 1 x Named Standard Launcher
Meds: 1 x 1mn Ab II 1 x Web
Lows: 1 x Small Armour Rep II 1 x MagStab II 1 x CPR 1 x EANM II
Fun to fly and does the job -----------------

With either ship, as soon as you get webbed you're going to be crushed. Missioning isn't like ratting. But as long as you don't get webbed, you're fine. Blaster Enyo would be the best IMO. You don't want to have to wrangle your drones constantly.
Because I said so...

I alternate between my dommie and my ishkur for level threes. Ive never flown an enyo so I cant compare. But there are only two level three missions my ishkur cant handle (while there are a couple more its simply more time efficient to do in the dommie due to dps). With an Ishkur you have a higher base speed then an enyo and with a nano using one of my lows and good afterburner and navigation skills I find im quite fast enough to keep my distance from anything that can hurt me. 5 light drones let you quickly take out any Webbers and other frigates, as well as take out big groups of cruisers and battle cruisers from 50km away (slowly, but the job gets done) when the destroyers and frigates have been taken out and the remaining large ships in a group have been sufficiently reduced in numbers I can fly back and join my drones in tearing the remainder apart with blasters.
Yes as I said there are a couple of missions you cant really do in an ishkur, and there are a couple more it really just isnĘt time efficient to do. But despite not having flown an enyo, I suspect it would have as hard a time with those ones. I do have friends, who fly enyos, and from their accounts they are just as much fun and as capable as the ishkur but they donĘt seem to be any better either. Both are grate ships, go with what appeals to you most.

I love the Ishkur for lvl 3's. Mainly cause of the range it gives you. Try this:
Hi:
3x 125mm II 1x Small Nos
Mid:
1x 1mn AB II 2x Cap recharger(whatever works)
Low:
1x SAR II 1x EANM II 1x Energized Explosive Hardener II
Dronebay fitted with whatever drones your skills allow.
This setup has worked very nicely for me. The nos is somewhat useless because optimal with antimatter on the 125s is around 10km. You could maybe fit a drone augmentator up there for more range if it will fit. Nice thing about Ishkur is that it has the speed to run if it's getting flattened and your drones can pound away at the stuff following you up to 40km or more out. Saved my rear a couple times, especially in Massive Attack.
