We've been seeing a few players reporting that they receive errors whilst playing, this is because they've ticked the option in Eve's settings to see those errors. To rid yourself of these errors press ESC when ingame and select the generic tab, there untick "show exception windows". After doing this you should not see these again.

How about fixing the issues and not telling players how to ignore them?

Why didn't I think of this solution? Now I've stupidly send a petition to notify CCP i'm having problems with these error-messages...

Exceptions are not the same as errors, an exception occurs when something isn't exactly where the client expects it to be for example sync issues on can's, they aren't anything to be worried about and you'll still see error windows should an actual error occur and chances are the client would crash after that point anyway ---

R you in politics? Go buy devs some Red Bull instead of leading the masses astray. Issues need fixing, this is not nation's health system we are talking about.

What a pile of steaming nonsense. Those are all bugs. If CCP spent half the time fixing real bugs as they do inventing new features to break, Eve would be a lot more playable. Sync issues... you mean like the report that I just now saw in the Help channel about a rat being nearby when popped but the wreck then appearing 54 km away? That's a bug, like many others that complicate play.
That's one of the reasons I just cancelled four paid accounts.

Zanpt... omg man! After every patch there is some time after CCP fixes new 'features' so they work as they should... this patch has some bugs, for some ppl real hard ones (like crashing etc) but I'm glad I can at last start playing with now toys than wait god knows how long before they fix all issues! And other thing - eve is too big for any team to be able to test it in all configuration and find all major bugs! This is just too big!
CCP u made great expansion! some bugs to fix but it's great anyway! My respect...

Well I get errors like: INVALID PACKET DESTINATION with some additional text when opening the Starmap (F10) and i don't get the starmap! <cynical>So disabling the error messages is going to make things work?</cynical>
I could be posting bugreports for a while, the Revelations patch is a disaster (for me atleast) sofar...

Maybe im alone here, but STFU! The people CCP have working on the 'new features' are NOT the people working on the bugs! I actually have a good idea of what these guys go through to keep everything running smooth so chill the f**k out and give them some credit! They do alot of work everyday to keep players like you(idiot whining players) happy, stop with the *****ing and start with the loving!

Edited by: Fullerton on 03/12/2006 19:24:19 Off topic but the day ccp fix just jita ill be Happy. or set auto pilot to go around the place even better remove the system.
i do agree with some players saying there should make the game more playable, instead of adding more content to increase more bugs instead of workin on the ploblems allready we have.

Whiners should be hanged. I've read so many of them moaning on help channel these days because of this lag and that bug... yet tonight the market and the gate-jumps are lightning-fast, but you wont hear any of them thanking ccp for this great upgrade of hardware or for that great content expansion.
Whiners are spoiled brats.
Here is this thread you guys are whining about the exception window, demanding that "issues be fixed". I won't even try to make it enter into your thick skull that all software has issues and that actually having the choice to have any exception displayed is a bonus, because it is so obviously lost on you and undeserved for your wimpiness that it's painful to watch.
You guys need to go out of your mom's wombs. Or maybe you need to stop crying for having gotten out of it. Whatever.

I Think that every programming nooblets out there whining about exceptions should go read that wikipedia entry. As a programmer i'd be very owrried if there wasent any exception in eve. Exceptions are perfectly normal and ARE NOT BUGS.
If you don't wanna see the exception handling, jsut disable the damn show exception option.

Exactly. Exceptions are normal and they happen all the time. Sometimes I am very worried. Eve is a great game. Every so often there is a problem but it is fixed asap. Somethings take longer than others but to complain about exceptions is beyond me.

Hm, depends on what the exception is....
Imagine a try/except block around some code accessing a pointer. Another thread has freed that pointer. You'll get an exception which you can live with if the pointer doesn't belong to anything vital or you'll have to gracefully shutdown if it is.

You're right that exceptions themselves are common and nothing to worry about. The windows you see in EVE, though, are unhandled exceptions, which are bad.
Now please don't label me as a CCP-basher, I'm just clearing something up.
