Hello. I have run 12-15 clients no problem in the past. Last time I was running this many clients my CPU usage hardly if ever went past 55%. I have recently started multi boxing again (and I am very well aware of the broadcasting changes) I have come to notice that after 2-3 hours, the system will lag so hard the mouse will start taking minutes to go from one end of the screen to the other. During this time CPU usage is 100% with occasional 1-5% that allows me to perform some tasks that are NOT the game. During this window the game is totality unresponsive, but the rest of the system responds as if nothing is wrong. This window lasts for about 5 seconds, with about 1 second is spent catching up with the command delays. During the super lag, the game refuses the CTRL+ALT+DEL command. Refuses to be closed.
I have tested this in my normal PC account, and my testing PC account. The normal is with all services active, all programs load up etc. Normal is normal. The testing account is like safemode, but not safe mode. Only the absolute minimum is loaded.
PC stats:
CPU: i7 3770k OC to 4.7GHz Mobo: Asus P8 Z77-V Le RAM: Kingston 16gb (2x8) G-Card: GeForce GTX 550 ti @ 950GHz OS: Win7 Home
Driver status: As far as I know, Up to date. checking as of this post to confirm that. |

Try killing the sound engine. Worked for me Killing the sound engine does seem to delay the issue, but only delays it. |

Update in attempting to find the issue.
CPU: goes to 100% during log in, drops to 10% while in station, goes to 60% while in space with 6 clients. 90% while in space with 10 accounts, and 95%-100% while in space with 12 accounts. This is with lowest possible settings and window size.
GPU: Memory usage (2gb max) usage never went past 68% with all 12 accounts.
Memory: 16gb max. Each client was only using ~650mb of memory per client in Dx11 (vs ~850-900 in dx9 Don't know why there is that much a difference tbh), had plenty of Ram to use after all the clients are running. have page file disabled.
HDD: Low usage during gameplay. Majority of usage is not game related.
CPU set up during testing: 4.2GHz, 1.1v, BCLK Freq: 103Mhzx41 =========== CPU: i7 3770k (4 cores 8 threads) Mobo: Asus P8 Z77-v le Memory: Kingston 16b (2x8 dual channeled) GPU: GeForce 550 ti @950Ghz 1075mV OS: Win7 Home Affinity set up: [Client] - [Core |Thread] 1 - [1|1] 2 - [1|2] 3 - [2|3] 4 - [2|4] 5 - [3|5] 6 - [3|6] 7 - [4|7] 8 - [4|8] 9 - [1|1+2] 10-[2|3+4] 11-[3|5+6] 12-[4|7+8] ===========
If CCP has any testing requests that I can do in order to find the cause of this sudden and sharp decrease in performance of the game, please let me know. I am more than willing to aid in finding the root cause. |

Update: Possible cause.
After several testing rounds it appears that what ever was added since the last major patch has caused Eve to no longer play nice when being ran on a logical core.
The issue is magnified when at an ice belt, large amount of drones (models loaded), large amount of ships (20+), loading station environment and space environments, POS's with effects ON (no noticeable effects when effects are off.), and possibly missiles (it was a spike and didn't last long)
Disabling sounds helps to a degree, but only delays the effect. ================================ Current testing being done: Seeing if the issue pops up when each client is set up like this; [Client:Core|Thread] 1:1|1+2 2:1|1+2 3:2|3+4 4:2|3+4 5:3|5+6 6:3|5+6 7:4|7+8 8:4|7+8 9:1+2|1+3 10:3+4|5+7 11: (Let Windows manage) 12: (Let Windows manage) |

Update: Confirmed, eve does not play nice when being ran on a logical core now.
When eve is being ran on a logical core, issues as mentioned in OP occurs. With the set up where each client is tied to a main thread (Threads 1,3,5,7) stability is seen and cpu temps are not as bad, cpu usage is 60% or lower, and minimal system lag.
If each client is tied to the logical threads (threads 2,4,6,8) then stability becomes a major issue, system lag is experienced, program lock ups is experienced, fps drops occur, and cpu temps skyrocket.

Thanks MicDeath Titan. That seems to solve the issues, although my cpu performance is worse than when attributing all cores to all clients.
Fix please CCP
Edit: Now that I think about it, with all cores on all clients, suppose I shouldn't even had any problem... weird? |
