I'm having audio dropouts. Starts with random short dropouts, becomes more and more and then audio engine seems to stop completely. At first login after dt a client restart helped, but now I'm having the same issues again. Stopping and starting audio engine in options turns audio output on again, but after a while the dropouts come back. |

Could you please send bug reports from your client (F12) with details about this? Thank you in advance.

Couple of noticed glitches so far this morning.
1. Mining ice with others in that belt, the sound of ice being chewed apart would get amazingly Loud, back off, then Loud, echo-y, normal, etc. So the sound problem is in more than combat situations.
2. Had to put my ISK pennies back in my view, they've been reset to not showing over three accounts.
3. Wrecks/loot insists now on showing up in General Overview, not staying where it should in Loot. As I have not done any customization to default settings, not thinking it's on my end.
4. Wow, lense flare times five now! The last mini-expansion left me in visual agony from the cluster headaches and vertigo and it took fiddling with graphic settings to get playable for longer than 30 minutes again. CCP, you're going to run me off from the amount of pain killers I'll have to take to play if these shiny graphic details go up much more. There's bound to be a way to make the game look more updated without causing physical pain for those of us with bad vision/light sensitivity, glasses/contacts, etc? It's getting brutal. Pretty looking, but brutal.
5. Drones are being very touchy about docking in their hold or going out to do things. Damage is spot on, they're following orders once out. Just getting them to get in gear seems off at times.
6. My notification chime is going nuts. Why? The waves of socket closed hitting those I have marked as watch. There's a problem here, it has not gotten me yet but it's nailed dozens just in my lists, one poor player got disconnected 5 times in 3 minutes. No specific ISP, region, country... So I'm thinking odds are it's on the server end, not the players' side of a login.
That's it so far that I've personally experienced. Hope that gives more directions to work for the number crunchers.

I really can't recommend doing a manual launcher install, or anything aside from a full client re-install.
Unfortunately CCP policy forbids me to elaborate, though I have brought the issues to their attention before.
I'm sorry I can't change my recommendation either, because CCP's policies also prevent them from discussing the matter with me, so I will never know if it has been permanently resolved. |

You are free to make a public post about whatever issues you may have had with a manual launcher reinstall in the Issues, Workarounds, and Localization forum. I'm assuming your "CCP Policy" comment refers to the matter of sharing private communications with CCP employees, but that doesn't restrict you from explaining the nature of your problem or what steps you have attempted to resolve it.

CCP Sledgehammer wrote:I am well aware that we were already discussing it, but in a thread other than where the aforementioned query was raised. As with anything we do relating to graphics, we have to bear in mind that individuals will have different opinions on what looks good. We keep a close eye on feedback relating these features to assess if we need to change or remove them in light of considerable feedback, this lighting feature is no different, but it has to be out "in the wild" for some time for that feedback to accrue. I sat with the Art Director and other QA and assessed the feature again when concerns were raised in the other thread, we all liked the effect - personal opinions obviously. You folks continue to confuse art design with UI design.
If you were crafting passive entertainment (ie. a motion picture of television show), art direction is indeed all-important; but when you are making interactive software, UI design takes priority over art design.
Art design is a creative process and entirely subjective. There is no way to really judge what is good or bad; it is always a matter of personal opinion. You don't create art by committee.
UI design is engineering, not art, and there *are* good and bad UI design criteria. It is not simply a matter of your personal opinion vs. someone else's personal opinion. The UI needs to work effectively, for all users, which typically requires options for users to personalize the UI according to their needs & preferences. This has been proven over decades of software UI design and end-user reviews, on thousands upon thousands of software packages, incl. games.
As stated in the feedback already given in the forums, the lighting features are annoying to many players. This negatively impacts the effectiveness of the UI, and thus should be changed - at the very least with an option to turn them off.
Indeed, all such future features should be designed with an on/off switch. This would obviate the need to have this sort of debate/discussion again. |

It's not that simple. Adding a new checkbox requires: 1) Changes, possibly complicated in a particular case, to enable/disable the feature. 2) Planning software engineer time to modify the UI. (Note that even if it's a relatively simple task, simple tasks still require that the engineer mentally "switch gears," plus there's UI design time to figure out where to place the control.) 3) Localization to multiple languages and subsequent QA validation for the localization. 4) QA testing of functionality. 5) Time and attention to tracking the feature, time involved in integrating the related changes into the release branch. Finally, there are general UI design concerns about mixing performance-related graphics controls with those that are solely to address personal preference, issues with total availability of UI real estate, and making a complicated window more complicated. To make it into a release, a particular feature or change requires being prioritized against all other possible ways to spend our time, because the list of things we'd like to do in the future is enormously longer than what we can do in any release. Player feedback matters, but it's neither possible to please everyone, nor is it possible to make all the changes every player requests on the forums. As I recall, one of the major reasons for moving to the shorter release cycles was to avoid rushing things into the game which were not 100% tested and ready.
So, if it takes another release cycle, or two, or three, for a check box to added and tested, then there is no reason not to take the time to do it right. If it isn't seen as a priority, then don't release the feature - just leave it on Sisi for more longer-term feedback. |

That's rather unfortunate as shader and textures have an extremely noticeable effect on the games appearance while turning down lens flares would potentially improve performance while maintaining lovely visuals. Perhaps this could be addressed in a future patch? in other words, please give us the option to control it separately. :) Personally I have no trouble maintaining 60 fps lock as long as I don't do 2 things, 1. Don't turn on windows 7 aero transparency with window blur turned on, it wrecks frame rates. 2. Don't look at the sun, because other than making you go blind it also wrecks frame rates.
