let me be the first to say that everything in crucible is amazing and much needed in eve to refresh things. everything looked great and the feel of the game is great. i like the new ideas for the T3 BC's and all the other new content they put in game...BUT
i feel kinda cheated with the naga. we were told that it was going to be a hybrid and torp boat (its okay that its not cruise missile friendly) when they announced it, only to changed within days of the patch to be entirely a hybrid cannoneer. its great in that respect, and i just bought and currently fitting it right now (my gunnery skills arent amazing, but enough to fit most things for it) but considering most caldari pilots are trained for torps and missiles and to suddenly make our t3 entirely a hybrid ship is really disappointing. in the initial description from the devs about the ship being "Equally capable of fitting large torpedo launchers, large rail guns or even blasters, the Naga is easily the most flexible weapons platform of the four new battlecruisers..." (source: http://www.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=3059 not even a month ago) the damn ship doesnt even have any launcher hardpoints or even the capability of doing anything other than hybrid weapons making it the more damage dealing version of the talos.
anyone else feel betrayed by this? |

Have you tried a railnaga yet? By the content of your post, I assume you have not. Not to mention you are in an NPC corp, whilst the tier 3 bcs were designed for med-large deployments. Also, they are Tier 3, not T3, which is Tech 3. God wears-áRay Ban Aviators. |

OP, I had to endure reading your entire wall of text, only to find that there is nothing new in it that has not been said by countless other people in countless other threads.
This thread is pointless, adds nothing to the general discourse about the Ti3 ships, and therefore needs to be locked.

Nope.
The torp version was downright silly, and the Caldari need more hybrid ships anyway. Also, Mini-Rokh for those of us who will never fly battleships = win! GÇöGÇöGÇö GÇ£If you're not willing to fight for what you have in GëívGëí you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.GÇ¥ GÇö Karath Piki-á |

"Betrayed" is an overly emo, melodramatic turn of phrase for a weapons change in a video game, tbqh.
The Naga is fine as it is. It gives Caldari Pilots another Railgun Platform, and a reason to crosstrain skills outside of just missiles, like all the other races are somewhat required to do.
The Caldari already have an above-average excelelnt Missle Platform in the Battlecruiser group, the Drake. Now, hopefully, they have the excellent rail platform to go with it, and a doorway (with the fixed to hybrids) to a rebirth for the sext hull that is the Rohk.
In either case, just because the changes non-released ideas is in no form a "betrayal" of anything. This is an MMO, content is not finalized ever, much less finalaized in it's test-server form.
While it's fine that you may loathe the changes made, that does not constitute a betrayal in any definition of the term. |

I believe the change was made several days before patch release and widely discussed.

i do have a decent amount of gunnery and hybrid skills (as well as laser turret training) to fly the naga without much issue (but probably nowhere near as well as people who have a lot more time in game) and i think the ship itself is very good for the meta. but announcing that a ship is going to be a torp and hybrid boat and then just days before patch saying "oh your shiny new ship that was going to be very multi-functional only to be very similar to another brand new ship for another faction" is messed up. |

Within days? They changed it to hybrids weeks ago and there have been so many forum posts and dev updates.

They gave the Gallente 2 new hybrid ships, what does this have to do with Caldari?
The Gallente are the ones who should be pissed because one of thier hybrid ships requires Caldari Ship skills, that has to suck

This is just my opinion and some may or may not agree, my main combat toon is Caldari and most of his weapon skills are in throwing stuff out of launchers, he may have some early hybrid skills trained but they have not been touched in forever and a day, I personally do not want to wast the time to train hybrids, he is a missile boat pilot and will stay that way for the foreseeable future, so in my opinion the Naga is a useless Caldari ship better fit for other races. |

TWO big arguments FOR a Naga with Hybrids instead of Missiles: * Rohk vs Naga - the stable price difference between a Rokh and a Naga is HUGE (Naga will probably stabilize at around 45 mil, which is peanuts compared to a Rokh) and a Naga can theoretically deal up to 25% more damage than a Rokh at enhanced hybrid optimal range (where Drones don't really matter) * demand for a missile Naga - we already have the Drake that fills that role quite well, a Raven is not significantly more expensive than a Naga would be, and you always have either the Nighthawk or Tengu as more specialized options ; when (not if, WHEN) they eventually add a 4th tier battlecruiser, it can totally be a missileboat
A blaster naga with Void ammo is totally devastating at decent enough ranges, and a rail Naga has insane range with somewhat decent and insta-hitting damage.
All in all, the Naga looks quite good on paper. I seriously doubt an 8 torpedo/cruise, no drones, +5% kinetic damage Naga would look ANYWHERE that good. And no, you would not be getting a -5% rof bonus, that would be way too overpowered ; without it, you barely get close to matching the Raven DPS output at long range. You could make it a 7-launcher -5% rof thing, but then you'd just be getting a cheaper CNR. Ok, there are reasons to like that, but... meh... the gun Naga is a more welcome addition in a much needed gap in the Caldari gunboat lineup.
AND FOR [INSERT_DEITY_NAME]'S SAKE, how many other Caldari gunboats with max gun counts AND a range bonus AND A DAMAGE BONUS do you have so far ?!?
You just got a 10% buff in volley damage for rails, and now you got a dirt cheap gunboat with Rokh range and UP TO +37.5% LONG-RANGE damage compared to the pre-patch Rokh !!! Seriously. WHAT. THE. FRAK. ARE. YOU. WHINING. ABOUT. QUESTION. MARK. It's a freaking cheap mobile field gun. http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Contributor_name:Akita_T#Contributions_link_collection |
