I've been CTDing all the time now too. Just started like 10 minutes ago, and I can't log back in for minutes.

Check out the server status on eve-i. Looks like the server is melting down yet again!

Actually, the server is probably up. The nodes are flaking, though. The login screen keeps alternating between "Tranquility - OK 1342 users" and "Tranquility - Server Down".
With no countup ("500 seconds remaining") I would say the server is up but the internet connection to it is oscillating.

Guess its ok - can log in now. Must have been a dodgy node connection (listen to me getting all technical).

Server still shows as being down for me ?
I have played MMORPG previously so I know these things happen now and again but as it is my 1st day I am a bit concerned about it, does it happen often?
If any want to know, I play(ed) DAoC on both Euro and US servers and run my own guild on US servers for over a year which is still going strong.. (The United on Bedevere if any are familiar with it)
I'm using the downtime to read up on as much info as I can about EVE, but before my month is up would really like to know if these connection issues are a regular occurance? Really REALLY want this it be a long term project for me, (old man, Elite fan etc) but if these server issues really are a problem then it may have to be a case of waiting for something else
Sorry to sound so negative but it is an issue for new people I would think. I hope it is not the case!! In my 6 hours of having 3 hours so far have spent being unable to connect

Sadly they have been a regular occurance, anything from someone accidently pulling the plug to crashes, resets due to system stucks etc. Most of the time there is a warning this last one was no warning and still no communication on what happened. I guess they figure we will ignore it. JOBS - Got Moin?

These server 'issues' are NOT a big problem. Infact they are hardly any problem at all.
Since the recent server upgrades performance has been nothing short of sensational. I personally have had 1 disconnection (and that may have been my isp). I play very regularly, and am enjoying EVE thoroughly.
If you need to talk to any old hands at eve, mail me, or look up INCOM corp. in REBLIER system !

Draig,
these server breakdowns are not that common. There's been a few occurences lately, one notably which took a day to fix.
However, new hardware has been implemented which should a.o. reduce the frequency of server breakdowns.
In all, i find server stability ok. Compared to my previous experience with UO it is ajust a bit more unstable. But much of my connection/lag problems are due to my own pc (which is a bit underwpowered for Eve).
btw, i dont have any problems atm. _______________________________________________

Thx all, I'm feeling much more happy about the wait! Still can't get on found something about them upgrading UK stuff so maybe that is the issue.
I'm running a P4 2.4 ghz with 1024 memory and a 256MG Nvidia Gforce FX 5600 so hopefully I will be ok for PC hardware for about a week....but who knows

you *might* want to try closing and restarting the client from scratch (maybe) I dont think the little status display on it updates after the first time (course you could be hitting connect, which would manually connect and/or I could be talking out of my read end :P) . ----- Apologys for any rambling that may have just occurred.

Actually, thats a good point. you will need to restart the client to get an update on the server status.
Or, just try connecting again. It may work.

Edited by: Draig Coch on 22/10/2003 14:39:18 Edited by: Draig Coch on 22/10/2003 14:36:52 I know
anyone else in the UK who cant connect? I just don't know what else to do
I load up EVE (as above a few times in case not updating) and after the screen comes up it simply says the server is down, and the test sever also.
Have tried hitting connect and it won't let me...
Very frustrating was working ok earlier.
My internet connection works fine, have played another game and obviously posting here and getting emails...any ideas? Or should I simply wait until tomorrow/later?

odd, when the server booted me off I could still see the chaos server up (but this site was down?) but it was back up within about 10 mins ... if you cant see it down I'd think they have a router out .. but this site comes via the same place (and same DB server afaik) so I dont pretend to understand it :/
Anyways I'm in the UK here, as is the server (london in the cable and wireless building I understand) . ----- Apologys for any rambling that may have just occurred.

Well I'm still not up and running have sent the DX file over to support hope somone answers soon, not the best start for a 1st day for sure
Guess I get to see first hand how the support is now, another major consideration when paying for a monthly subscription which is why I left GOA (DAoC Europe) and went to the US servers.
Sorry for being negative but what a totally frustrating 1st day, doesn't bode well!!

Draig,
I played eq for 4 years so I'm used to mmorpgs too, imo Eve is as stable as eq was or is. Considering Eve is still pretty new these hardware teething problems are only to be expected, if they are still happening in 2 or 3 years time then it's time to worry (or just time to play something else if you're not already :P)
PS also an old time elite fan and loving this thing called eve :)
