why not making it possible to turn normal cargo pods into sec containers with a skill. so we can get rit of these noobs shooting our pods filled with ores in sec 1.0 systems. noobs or alts from veterans whatever but it happens and its a darn shame some people use it to annoy people or even just to screw up the game for other players. happened to me last week and i shot him destroyed his noob ship 3 times and went ctd then by the time i logged in again concord was all over me totally jammed and nothing i could do. connection was so bad i got ctd for 3 times i a row. doing petitions for 3 days already but ccp seems not to understand the problem. just making it possible to turn normal cargo pods into sec containers with use of a skill would salf this problem. or even make shooting at others cargo pods an act of agression that would salve it to. well anyway flame me for this or not but i dont see the satisfaction people can get into destroying others cargo pods. destroy my ship in battle and you want hear a word from me thats the risk of battle.
well you can start flame now i can take it

without a way to transfer ore directly into a industreal i see no reason why they were not ment for this.

the simple solution here is to not be so lazy and cheap. go out and buy the secure contasiners, set them up, and dump ore into them, thats what they are designed for, as when you JETTISON a can you are dumping it into space, like trash into a landfil. sure buying the containers to begin with and heaving them out to your mining op may be a chore, but its what they were designed for, so use them or take a risk of loosing your ore to lil ****s nuking them or stealing the ore.
the only downside is that solo miners willfind this harder as they will need more cans as the pickups wont be as frequent.
just my view,

You tried using secure container?
You can't set them up withing 5km of a rock.
Hell I mine closer then that because drones ignore any commands you give them and are therefore vulnerable to attack. Staying close means they spend less time travelling distance, and more time mining.
There are plenty of reasons we could go on about secure containers, and their size is another attribute.
Nice idea at one point, badly implemented in my opinion.
Hell why do they even take up the same size unassembled in your cargo hold? Surely they should be smaller to allow your industrial team to move lots of them to a system you are intending to mine for a while, rather then only a few and have to buy others near to that system? Packaged they should take up 1/3 to 1/5th the volume they do, but as packaged they don't work. When assembled they work, and are the size and capacity they should be.
Hell I have even asked for some dumping-ground equipment you could anchor that would do the same thing as current jettisoned cans or better to encourage people to use them.
And until you as a pirate come up with a better way of working whilst being bored out of your mind sustatining a factories mineral demands, please feel free to come up with some other answer then exploting cans. Give me some constructive mining focused answers please :)

huh? have i just been called a pirate?
if i read it wrong, i appologise, but to clear it up, im not a pirate or ore thief, in fact i rarely go near mining ops as i find nothing more dull. just thought id clear that up while i was checking through past posts. Laters

Only problem here is that you're exploiting jettison cans. Stop mining to them. End of problem.

You've already posted them all yourself, directly above this quote. What did you expect, a machine that you can click on "operate" and the go offline for a week while it mines directly to your station hangar?
Mining is WORK. You get paid for it, by selling off the ores. If you don't think the effort involved is worth the returns - here's a thought. DO SOMETHING ELSE.

i find this amuseing....people gripeing about exploiting jet cans when people like tank are exploiting jump in points and instavaporizeing people
priorities are a bit fuber, methinks

a) Standard containers track their owner. Only the creater can rename the container. If its truely trash? Why put it in a container? Its in a container so you or someone else can retrieve it.
So, useing a container to hold stuff to come back for can't be an exploit as that is what it is designed to do.
b) As for the skill sugestion, I'm agin it. I think BP's for secure containers should be available... but converting standard container doesn't make since. Secure containers a basicly large safes in space. A normal container was never designed in anyway to perform the same function. Uh, other then holding stuff that is.

Well that idea about Sec Containers Bp i like. Anyone has a cleu iff it will be introduced to the game.
BTW we were also using Sec Containers at that moment but they were filled with ores already. Our hauler had probs keeping up hauling for several miners at the same time. So dont call me cheap. Dont think people like the idea of putting belts full of Sec Containers creating major lag. Thats why I only put in a few.
