I have been having the same problem with CTD's. I have been in touch with the GMs about this and they have tried to offer the same advice which is posted here already.
I have tried everything on this forum and more and still cannot find the answer
I also tried windowed mode but was rather pi##ed off that I were paying for a game which I love, on a really nice monitor, at max settings and couldnt enjoy the full mode. However, I shall try to adapt to see if it works for a week or so. Although I CTD about once every 1-2 hours without fail I shall monitor it for a week.
I just wish the tech guys would look into this ASAP, otherwise I will have to leave EVE for good as I cannot risk CTD at a gate in low sec with a 100 Mill ship.

Ok, so I try playing this through windows mode which now for some reason gives me only 2 screen sizes available, so i go for the biggest on and its great coz i can push the window s bar up and out of sight basically giving me a normal screen. Problem....... We are still CTD, 12k people on server, 4 in local, no-one at the gate, approaching gate going into warp and gone........ PC had only been on like 20 minutes. I love the patch notes, saying that this will help with stability, HELLO! CAN WE HAVE SOME DEDICATION HERE THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED OR I WALK FOR ONE! and Im sure more will follow.

Within the first 30-40mins of playing after installing yesterdays patch I had 6 CDT, all whilst simply warping or flying to a gate in quiet systems. I have tried windowed mode, the pref.ini suggestions all to no avail. Disabling sound certainly made things more stable for me, but I like playing with sound. Before the patch I would get the occasional CDT. Now my rig certainly hasn't changed in the space of three days so make of that what you will....
My rig: AMD 64 X2 3800+ GF 7600GT Onboard Realtek AC'97 Sound
All mainboard, graphics card and sound drivers up to date
I'm going to try playing on my second PC which has a P4 and an old Soundblaster PCI card, and a similar graphics card...will let you know how I get on.
I have noticed however, that many of us experiencing these problems are using AMD64 dual core processors...anyone think this is relevant?

I have to join in the latest wave of complaints. Since the patch, I frequently have Eve crashing when jumping (it never did that before yesterday's patch and I haven#t changed my system). When I end the crashed program via task manager, I get an error message about "CCP Blue Framework" not responding, and whether I would like to send a bug report to microsoft.

Edited by: Kedrich on 28/09/2006 10:29:04 There is definitively something wrong with FEW last patches. It is clearly visible the increase in CTD with each single patch. This last one made EVE unpayable (almost) for me. I CTD each 15-20 minutes. Yes, all checked (drivers, temperature, settings, etc., etc.) Unless CCP does something promptly to that, many people will play docked skill changing only.

I was having constant CTDs, mostly when jumping between systems and when undocking from stations. I took someone's advice I read on these forums and switched to windowed mode and since then I have not had a single jump/undocking related CTD.
I have had a couple of flat out freezes where I have to end task since the dragon patch, but they are very infrequent.

This is getting really annoying now. I am having the same problems and have tried everything I can think of, (I'm quite tec' savy I have a degree in computing so am not daft)there is nothing overheating in my system all my drivers are up to date, have a new bios, cleaned out my case, tried playing windowed etc etc.
I have seen at least four threads on this in the last week, this is most definately a problem with Eve. Every body has different system configurations so it isnt an nvidia or ATI or sound card issue.
Come on devs at least let us know you are working on it the game is becoming unplayable for a lot of us.
If you are a player having the same problems please dont just read this thread ad your comments.

Originally by: Melanie Bell Okay people, calm down! Before taking apart your computer, consider this: if it were a hardware or driver problem, you would see random crashes (and reboots) using other heavy applications as well. Fact is, this only happens with EVE. So, the problem is with the EVE client and/or server.
I'm a new player myself and these random crashes are a major annoyance. I just hope the server people are trying to fix this, because this potentially could turn away paying customers.
If it was a problem with the EVE client, we'd all be posting here, but the entire player base isn't, so it's something on your end that's causing it, whether the issue be driver, hardware, or software related, however, I have no idea. ---

Any info is appreciated :)
have exactly the same. the crashes seem to come randomly. no scheme recognisable. it snot during undock/dock jump - its just anytime. it quietly terminates to desktop.
Exactly the same thing happens to me. Been going on at random ever since I started playing two months ago

That's true in part. It probably is hardware related, but not a general hardware fault that we are all experiencing, but some kind of incompatibility between our hardware and the EVE client. You can bet your life that the EVE dev team all use the same systems, and the code will be optimised using those systems. There just isn't the time or finance for them to starting putting random PCs together to see how the code runs under different configurations. The problem is finding what exactly we all have in common that might be causing this. On this note I would encourage everyone who posts here to list their system specs, and those who have already posted to come back and list theirs.

Well I played 5hrs solid on my second PC last night. Full install the latest patch. All my cache copied across too. System specs are P4, 1GB RAM, old Soundbalster PCI, nVidia AGP graphics (can't quite remember the model at the moment). All drivers up to date.
Will try the main rig again over the weekend to see what happens....there has to be something we're missing

Edited by: Kedrich on 29/09/2006 11:18:01 Well, i got an idea about those crashes... It looks to me like it does that because of *.dat files in /cache/settings folder. They are your characters settings. Something gets wrong with them if you were playing this game for some extended time, be it because of patches implementation or original client problem. If you reinstall EVE and copy settings, you still crash. If you reinstall eve and do NOT copy settings, chances are you will get rid of crashes. You will loose your settings ofcourse and will have to remake all overview, bookies folders and such.
P.S. I really wish CCP says at least a damn word about this...

It is NOT a hardware problem. I've got a new rig and everything is working dandy. I'm using some heavy apps here (video encoding and compiling) that really stress this system, and if there was any problem in my hardware it would show up. I'm also able to play other games without a problem.
So yes, the problem is the EVE client. There is (are) probably some bug(s) that are triggered by certain setups, be it hardware or software. So I agree with what Jeretomi says. But it's still a bug in the EVE client that needs to be fixed.
My setup: AMD Athlon64 X2 4200+ processor MSI K9N SLI Platinum motherboard with nForce 570 chip onboard 7.1 channel Realtek ALC883 High Definition audio onboard nVidia Gigabit LAN Ethernet 2x 1GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2/800 RAM nVidia 7900GT video card

OK, thanks for adding your details people. Now, with the two new system specs added, two things stick out like a sore thumb....Athlon 64 X2 CPU and onboard Realtek audio, both of which are the same for my rig. My second PC in a P4 and uses an old Soundblaster PCI card...played for 5 hrs solid last night. Disabling the sound in EVE helped a little on my problem rig, but it still eventually CDTd. I've bought myself a new Creative Audigy PCI card and I'll try that later this weekend and get back to you.

What I indend doing is disabling the onboard sound at BIOS level, removing the Realtek drivers as best I can and only then install the new Creative card...it can't be any worse...surely.

Oh by the way, I think I can speek for all of us when I say, we are not interested if your system works perfectly and allways has done we want to know how many people are having the same problems as us and if there is a link between us... thank you.

I dont have heat problems. I have been getting infrequent CTD's and game freezing. CTD normally happens when i run one client only but is not limited to that. Freezing occurs at log in freezes on authenticate or when loading in or out of stations. Has happened in complex. I have had Multiple freezes running 2 clients just normally. Like i have stated freeze tend to be at trasitions but CTD's seem random. I believe all my drivers are uptodate i just built the system 3 weeks before dragon and it ran beautifully. Whatever fixs are in process or idea that CCp dev team has please let us know. If i get another CTD i will send in the bugreport. I have been getting these CTD's since the last patch. I have an Athlon X2 3800+ and having been running windowed since I built it (6 mnths ago) due to crashes in full screen at that time.
MEMORY LEAK - if I open task manager while EVE is running I find that ExeFile.exe is chewing memory, 8 to 16K a second, is anyone else noticing this? Will setup logserver and and submit a bug report but I was just wondering if this is the same problem.

Ok i have had crashes since the previous patch also,.........i have submitted a Bug report, but i have had over 300 Crashes mainly from jump gates and when looking into peoples bio/info. I have had no feedback or reply from CCP? This problem IS EVe side , as i have done 3 days of changing drivers , re-install, no sound , with sound different resolution etc....etc.... Please, Please someone Tell CCP we have a major problem , as all corp mates , and other players just dont give a monkeys toss, and say stupid things like try turning sound off, or re install drivers etc. Done all i can to get this game running properley.........just fed up now....this is the worst i have known Eve in nearly 3 years of playing. CCP you will loose alot of folks like me unless you sort out this issue. Stuff paying money to you for a game that dosent work properley!!
