I suppose the answer to that is numbers...I'd say the majority of people who play have good colour recognition and a minority don't, Instead of annoying the majority of people to help the minority why not just create a UI for people with the problem a.k.a colourblind mode or something similar.

Decided to try the New Eden Store for the first time today and get the new sexy Moros ship skin. After buying it and trying to paint my Moros I realized the Moros needs to be repackaged to be able to be skinned :(
Not fun at all with a T2 capital rig and two other capital rigs, thats like a 300+ million loss to repackage it. Why can't we paint assembled ships? At least add some information on the NES page telling us that we need repackaged ships to be able to use the skins. |

I can only second this, im a trader and switching windows all the time and i got a weird feeling after some time. On top of that every focus switch makes my FPS drop 50% until the animation ends.

Ok ccp, nice effort but still not quite there but I am sure you already are aware of that and upcoming patches/fixes will sort things out. So I will just list some peeves of mine as it stands right now. Its not many honest :D
1. The UI change is ok to a point, my concerns were only that the edging of the windows have white corners that really distract me when I go to look at another window for info, my eyes go to the white corner chevron/edge placement things. That in in itself seems to of been done because someone did not really finish or was not really happy with final outcome and needed some feeling of solidity in the windows feel.
My recommendation:
Make a certain portion of surrounding edge of the windows have a gradient at least, and tighten the edge fnally with a dark prominent line of the colour palette needed per profile or failing that black is suitable for everything. Remove the corner markers as mentioned above there is no need for them they serve no purpose and are distracting.
Adding gradient edging to the window will actually at least give the "ships console" feel that it has some depth and is part of your pod instead of flat boring overlay that when placed next to other windows blends into a mess with no defining ends of the windows themselves.
2. Check out the fps counter per click of channel tabs on one window combined when moving between chat rooms as it again is causing as it always has I think from the past fps spike drops ( this could be just teething issues with the new ui itself ) but it is more prominent since update today than it ever has been for me anyhow.
3. I would have to agree on the feeling of ships and bling effect of late, it has gone beyond ok to ludicrous now, come on admit it you know its crazy ;) The Amarr ships look like Cleopatra has risen from the dead and the buff and shine vehicle shop has gone overboard with enthusiasm to please her. Come on seriously? / goes for any other ship with reflective bright surfaces as well, lets get these space ships looking like ships that have endured countless space dust hits at least?
The map is awesome it might have some initial lag issues sometimes but probably because its in conjunction with the original map it seems to still be in use even when selecting beta map, maybe its too taxing having both available to the client in use? Other than that the whole aspect of it all is just great and well done :D Now just waiting on the probe scan into the system in that window on my other screen so I can watch in space whats going on still :D, can't wait!
Thats all, o/ |

New map is great but still needs some work. The heat mapping functionality of the old F10, while gross, worked. In the dev post about the new map, it looked to have at least better heat mapping than I am capable of finding (while still being inferior to the old F10), so maybe I just can't find that option (in the very simple UI).
This picture was taken for pilots in space last 30 minutes statistic. Tell me which systems actually have the most. Picture. The orange blip is Jita (go figure). Otherwise, all this heatmap does is give you a rough estimate of lowsec vs highsec.
As I said, the map is great but still far from a completed product. Keep up the good work.
EDIT: Please for the love of god let me change the level of blur on these windows.
DOUBLE EDIT: People actually complaining about buttons are ridiculous. The worst thing CCP has ever done in this regard is take the undock button from the bottom left and move it to the top right, and it took 80 minutes to get used to. |

I want the old icons back cause its trained in my head what they do and not these new age "elitest" type icons.. that's all the feedback you need to know.. now if you want to play the greyscale and dismiss my feedback more power to ya.. i'll just take my money onward to somewhere else that promises not to make my eyes bleed..
this needs to be OPT-IN.. like you're doing with the Star Map!.. is that enough feedback for you?? pay attention here.. folks are all complaining the visual thing is a problem are you going to deny that as well??

Will we ever see this ban lifted, IMO in many cases t3 ships are rarely in a better spot for 3/10-4/10 complexes than; Ishtars, Gilas, Stratios, VNI, and most HACs.
Years ago there were a lot of incidents of T3 being able to traipse right into a 4 of 10, tank all NPCs, pop the boss and run off. Every time some corp got kicked out of nullsec they would clean out every highsec 4 of 10 around. I even got banned from the exploration chat for bringing that up. (hit too many nerves).
So when gate restrictions were introduced, the only people complaining were the ones doing it. If you can run a T3 you don't "need" to be doing highsec 4/10s. Leave it for the noobs who need the experience.

History of last 3-4 years in "design":
* Microsoft makes the next OS flat and gay * Apple dumps skeuomorphism and makes every flat and crappy and inconsistent in their next iOS * The rest of the designers lack any imagination and just follow the two giants blindly * Google attempts to save face by making an "almost flat" design which "almost" works. * The rest of the designers are too dumb to make their own unique look and just make everything flat and boring. * CCP copies the trend and destroys EVE's UI into something almost unusable, by imitating technology from the 80's ( wasn't there a picture of an antique analogue oscilloscope in the dev blog ? )

They were things that were distinguishable somewhat by shape and somewhat by color. Now you removed the color and they're things only distinguishable by shape. Explain again how that's suppoed to help please.
Also regarding symbols having "no semantic meaning": They did. Obviously people managed to play the game and therefore had to get their meaning. You learned or knew that behind a certain symbol was a certain function. |

Yeah GÇö-áI had similar problems with market, fitting, and people/places. Even after four years of playing I had to pause to make sure I was hitting the right button, and failed more often than I'd prefer to admit.
