Thanks for responding. I already pretty much assumed that every GM in the game would have the "ignore mode" engaged. I would if I were in that position myself.

Im curious just for the numbers of gm's employed for statistical reasons. It would take a little more work than I care to put into it to look all that up myself :P

In this one thread there has been more contribution posts from the devs and mods than all others combined in the past week at least.
Nice to know they still read the threads, but it also points out that the current state of the forums has regressed so badly that they are choosing to avoid rather than participate.
Thanks forum trolls.
I got an idea, ban forum trolls!

I think the devs actually should respond less and less, because these days people are so used to them replying that they are demanding it.
Also when the devs do reply to something, people ask more questions and then complain about those questions not being answered. I bet the devs could spend all day in these forums and still not satisfy everybody. Not to mention no work on the game would be done.
So yeah, I think dev replies should be unusual. They shouldnt feel forced to reply to stuff, and players shouldnt demand their replies either. They DO read the forums and have said so many times. But they cant be expected to reply to threads, because it only leads to more questions. Important questions are answered, but sometimes it takes a few days for various reasons.
Dev blogs is the way to go.

Well its their fault that they started replying in the first place.
I doubt CCP would have had such a loyal playerbase if it hadnt been for the two way communication.

Two way communication... thats one way to see it. I see it more like one side is demanding things and the other side is trying to answer some demands, but continually gets critizised for not replying enough. Not a very healthy form of communication, is it...
Yes, the players (including me) thinks ccp is fantastic, and thats also one of the reasons why I think its unfair to demand replies. If you really care about the devs, you dont want them to just fill your needs, do you?

Demanding replies is silly. However, that fact doesnt conflict with my original statment.

My needs? You mean like FIXING the game before they come up with rubbish features such as multi language support and new content while the game is fairly broken?
I would very much like them to fill my needs.
The new hardware were supposed to cure lag, it didnt-. Instead we have jump que to 'fix' the lag issue. seams like a cheap, half ass solution to me.

No, I mean your needs as in "demanding replies" in the forum. They are working on "fixing" the game constantly - they are devs. Them not replying in the forum doesnt mean they arent fixing/creating stuff. Surely you can see this.
I agree that there are tons of things to whine about... stuff people feel they dont need or want, or the devs focusing on the wrong things etc. So what would you have them do... reply to those threads? What good would it do? They wont change their objectives - its their game. They read the feedback and if they continue to go ahead with stuff, its their choice. No need to respond to every thread written by people who dont like the changes. Its just a waste of time for them.
Usually they respond in blogs instead, which is better because alot of people read the blogs. Its easy to miss a dev reply in a thread somewhere, specially if you are not a frequent visiter of the forums.

I've already stated that demanding this and that isnt the right way to do things havent I?

Ofcorse, but the way things are today it seams they are driving in the 5th gear, and they build the road as the go... if you know what I mean(dunno how to translate it correctly)

I know what you mean... but I think its actually us players that are uncertain of where the game is heading. Its not easy to get a picture of the future just from the blogs... Tux talks about reducing blobbing for example. None of us know how this will work out or affect the game. So it creates uncertainty...and we all like to imagine the worst case scenarios, dont we... :)
Im trying to just relax and enjoy the ride... even though I have a hard time staying out of ship balance threads. :p

Edited by: Sakura Nihil on 03/09/2006 10:05:15 By my count, we have approximately 53 GMs, assuming all the people with "GM" as their name's prefix are in fact GMs and not imposters (but by Wrangler's post, I doubt there are any imposters, eh ?).
Just for those of you wondering btw, that's nearly 2.7k players / GM, not counting multiple accounts ofc. Wonder why the petition system is backed up , just a statement.

Ohhh, ya think this thread has hit a nerve?
Well, as far as harrassing GM's, Bro, if your in the game I can hunt you down and blow you out of the sky. Assuming a level playing field. That is Eve. Messaging or spamming of any kind i'm sure is bannable, but if I ever see a GM in 0.0, or for that matter, If i can hunt you down using my locator agent, I am going to want that corpse. And if that gets me banned then I think i'll go back to Zelda . . .

If you want a list of GM's in Eve... simply run a charcter search under people and places for "GM " (with a space after it).
That will show a list of GM names for you.
Although it's pointless, and you'll get into a lot of trouble for trying to rip-off or mess with GMs in any way.

Actually what would be useful, would be if the Senior GMs were listed as such, so when we get completely contradictory responses from 2 different GMs, we know which one is more authoritative.

That wont give you an exact number, since there are more than 25 GMs and thats the limit for the character search. However that gives you a nice estimate. Judging from that I'd say there are about 50 GM's in the game. That is a reasonable number since the total CCP staff is 168, like they said in the blog. тттттттттттт VIP member of the [23]
