EVE API
The Jumps API no longer shows jumps into wormhole space.
Does this mean Dotlan and Staticmapper will no longer show how active a system is? Wow, buried Dotlan Nerf for W-Space? |

This is a really big nerf to some common small-gang tactics using slow-down bubbles and splitting opposing forces.
A good dictor pilot used to be able to burn back to gate, drop a bubble and jump before the enemy ships could agress the bubble. That will no longer work, dictors will be even more flying coffins than before.
Is that intended? |

Dear CCP
The Naga as another hybrid platform?! Why?! We've already lost the destroyer and the tier 3 battleship to bloody guns; why the tier 3 BC as well? Caldari are about missiles; if you want hybrids cross-train Gallente. And if the Caldari REALLY need a hybrid platform, the Ferox is feeling rather under-loved (though that may change with the hybrid changes).
tl:dr Give the Naga back its torps; cruises as well would be nice (after they were removed from bombers).

1) Torp naga sucked. Range was too short, flight time invalidated DPS (other ships can get in several volleys before your first missiles hit). Cruise would have the same issues, but also would need to incur a penalty to match the tracking weakness of the other BCs.
2) top tier caldari ships are rail platforms (merlin, moa, naga, rokh) |

Tara Nighthawk wrote:Doe EVE still work with Linux? Hehe
Yes...and no.
This month is the first time in a long while that Eve has received a garbage rating on WineHQ. While Linux users sometimes can keep up a SISI installation to check out the Almighty Future(tm) this is a rating for TQ, not the patch to come. I however can personally vouch that both the test server and the current live server are affected.
- If you use the new shiny GNOME 3 with an nVidia card, it requires the nouveau driver. That driver can't handle Eve, TQ or SISI, and pretty much any other non-native game in wine for a lot of people.
- As the Linux channel in game will attest, Eve works under wine with the nVidia binary blob drivers very well. But your 'new hotness' touchpad desktop is probably horribly broken. (So sad, what a loss. /sarcasm)
So it is not so much about Eve changing and breaking as certain Linux desktops moving on and 'improving' their user experience. Some people have even rolled back one or two releases of their favorite distribution to avoid losing out valuable skill queue time.
For what it's worth, the biggest improvement "for Linux" in this patch is letting patching work on +1 Tb disks. Linux has long been able to build massive filesystems out of just about any random junk or overpowered storage part you can stick into your case. Or dangling off the side of it. Patch day sucked for Eve: having to force a filesystem bellow 2.2 Tb of freespace just to get a SISI or TQ patch to take. Or putting Eve into a WINEPREFIX that lived in a disk-in-a-file.
OT, though: un-nerfing the speed on the Dominix - slowest of the battleships - is something that has been coming since the work that killed nano-Ishtars and their speedy ilk. It's still a space brick, just a slightly speedier one. Gallente mission runners can rejoice. All hail the sclerotic nut sack of drone aweseomesauce. Now with racing stripes.
Poor Interbus. I can only expect cruiser roams to start poking holes in their structures where ever possible. NPC nullsec PI just got a whole lot more expensive.
Also, sad there is no fighter bonuses for carriers. So much for that elite Sanctum running. Well, there is the new BCs which do well at it. Just not as tastey to catch and kill in NPC crazy space.
Soo many changes, though. Keep up the good work CCP and soon you'll be nicknamed "Continuously Cool Patches." Not that anybody would ever call you something else . |

- Planetary Interaction: We have boosted the bandwidth of links to be

- Most starbase structures have had their anchor and unanchor timers reduced to 5 seconds and their online timers set to 3 seconds.
- Starbase turrets, launchers, electronic warfare batteries and hardeners have had their anchor and unanchor timers reduced to 5 seconds and their online timers have been normalized to 120 seconds.

One of the pos fuel changes was in regards to faction towers - mainly -
"Faction towers will have a 10% fuel use reduction for "tier 1" towers and a 20% fuel use reduction for "tier 2" towers (compared to their standard tower equivalents), taking them to 36/18/9 and 32/16/8 respectively for large/medium/small towers"
I may be missing something very obvious but what is a 'tier 1' tower and what is a 'tier 2' tower exactly?

Standard tower and large tower, what?
There are 2 diferent tiers of faction towers. Take for example the Sansha or the True Sansha versions of the Amarr towers. There is 2 tiers for all three sizes of towers. Each of the regular tower types, have 2 sets of faction types. |

It doesn't make sense to have no jumps but keep any other API info about a WH system.
Either keep the jumps in the API or remove NPC/Ship/Pod kills as well.
The magical counter either knows about the system or it doesn't. You can't have half and half. |

Thanks but still confused, in market they list small, medium and standard towers. No large listed? (Always heard of standard ones being called by players a 'large pos' but if that's what you mean you are saying the two different towers are the same one)?

Been asked quite a few times now, Devs answer many questions, but have yet to respond to this one. I for one, would love to see a response to the questions asked about this change.
Where did that come from, and why? Is it only jumps, or is it everything? Honestly, I would rather see nothing, as that just makes sense anyway, but as quoted above, if the magic all seeing counter can see anything in there, then it should see it all. |

Yes I have as that is what I assumed they were talking about - but which is which - in info list see nothing about tier numbers, although i do see a few slight numerical differences... is that the only way to tell? to look at every value and see which is slightly higher?

This change is just dumb. You should rather make it the exact opposite, sphere you launch doesnt prevent you from warping to make dictors more survivable.
Oh and reduce their sig radius.

Best Tag line I've seen in ages....
To address a couple other issues:
POS towers sm/med/large (yes large = standard) Faction towers Tier 1--------Tier 2 sansha------True sansha Blood---------Dark Blood Serpentis----Shadow Guristas------Dread Guristas Angel----------Domination ANYONE who has dealt with towers for more than 5 minutes pretty much knows this in their head, this info is for those who need to buy a clue, send donations to this toon
The change in the Drone Bay req. going up for super carriers even as their space drops and the req for titans going to zero makes complete sense from the MARKET side, this way the changes won't effect supply and demand too drastically
EVE API STEALTH CHANGE!! The Jumps API no longer shows jumps into wormhole space.
Still waiting for the rationale on this from the Devs... if the banking, contracts, and medical clone systems all work from W-space why can't I keep my intel on Jumps?? (was painful to remove L4 agents locating in W-space, but it washed out as a minor Buff) removing jump intel will certainly end up as a nerf.

Thanks for the clear list even if you felt the need to insult me while being helpful. Yes IF the only way to tell is 'the more exotic named is a higher tier' then it is now clear. Yet pretty lame and not consistent with items showing meta levels in description or having a unique icon like faction and t2 do. So I don't feel stupid and I do thank you for your assistance. |

2) top tier caldari ships are rail platforms (merlin, moa, naga, rokh)[/quote]
-Why is it a good thing that the top tier ship of the missile race is a gunboat? -Why were people expecting range on a torp boat; that's what cruises are for. -If torp damage is so bad for pvp, explain the bomber, which many people even fly without the bomb launcher. -If range and getting into it are issues, explain the Talos, which is intended as a facemelting blaster platform. -Larger missiles have the explosion velocity penalties to match the turret tracking issues when attacking small ships.
I flew the torp Naga on the test server and humiliated a few battleships, i just flew it like a blaster platform, but with racial damage torps.

Archetype 66 wrote:SURPRISE.... "Launching a warp disrupt probe should will give you aggression and prevent you from docking or jumping."
Code for this fix actually went in in early 2009, but the stat changes necessary to activate it "fell down the back of the sofa"; we found them again by accident last month and moved them into the Crucible release. We'll keep an eye on this and see where it ends up taking us balance-wise.
Archetype 66 wrote:SURPRISE 2 :

It's already the case on TQ that ships with jump portals active can't receive remote assistance. It's not already the case on TQ that this is actually listed on the module. This change fixes that missing information, but doesn't change the functionality. (It's interesting that people are getting outraged by this "nerf", though.) |
