Has there been any official answer on the famous problem where files are "corrupt" following and autopatch or full client download?
We have a corpmate, a long time player, that can't install the new version on his PC, because the installer reports files as "corrupt". yes, he used the CCP provided links. No go.
What causes this? What's the resolution?
I've seen many threads on this, and not one of the solutions proposed worked, and I haven't seen a dev response to it, either.
He's got all the prerequisites (XP Pro SP2), but for some reason, it just fails to install on his machine.
He has the latest patches, plenty of free space, his RAM is OK, not using a download manager, latest .Net framework, latest drivers, etc.
Anyone?

Has he tried to download and install the patch manually off this website?

I don't know, I'll check.

Yes, the full version of the client as well. -

Yeh I have Norton on my machine. I know many people hate it but I've never had any viruses or issues.
This maybe the first one.

Norton is more akin to malware than anything else specially the firewall, get rid of it (disabling the firewall does not solve problems, not sure about the AV). First few versions were good, but the last few iterations, EWW. If you need an antivirus, use NOD32.

Managed to get an install by using my old CD and patch from that.
However it bombs out on start virtually every time. A restart sometimes cures it and I can actually get a seesion running. As far as I'm concerned it worked before now its flaky. The new code isn't robust enough.

Im having exactly the same problem with installing EVE, when dragon code was released did a manual patch but got an error.
Then I uninstalled, downloaded the full client using getright (as suggested), but everytime it says the installer is corrupt or there has been an unexpected error.
I have the original copy of EVE, Gemini 934 I think it is... but there is no patch avaible... or is there?
I've been trying to install EVE for two days now.. the Nullsoft installer sucks big time.

Valan asked me to post this link for you. He says that's a patch that should be what you are looking for.

SOLUTION
For posterity: the solution was installing the version from the Eve CD (934), and applying the patch in my previous post. Thanks for all the help, we got our pilot back!!1 -

lol Andargor. Cheers for the input. Hope you're back in Nez.
I think a complete system rebuild and countless hours playing around with applications and settings would've been easier than finding my old EVE CD in the loft.

Possibly he downloaded it with an FTP client that defaults to ASCII transfers. That'll trash an EXE :)
